Midway Trailer - Directed by Jack Smight and starring Charlton Heston, Henry Fonda, James Coburn, Glenn Ford, Hal Holbrook. The 1942 battles of the Coral Sea and Midway island are retold through the points of view of both sides. When an audacious US air raid reaches Japan itself, Combined Fleet commander Isoroku Yamamoto orders seaborne invasions of Port Moresby in the southwestern Pacific and of Midway Island near Hawaii, invasions that Yamamoto hopes will smoke out the US Pacific Fleet for destruction before the full might of US war production can kick in.
Universal - 1976 - Krátké a kreslené filmy
"What makes me different?"
"Pearl Harbor I guess!"
My favorite comeback of the whole movie.👍
This is so much better then the remake.
Who's here after the 2019 Midway movie announcement?
I'm here after the trailer. My guess this will still be the best Midway Movie.
MEEEEEE lol
... ahaha... yep...!!!
i did Sir'..... but this old skool movie were much better than 2019 midway.... the only good from 2019 midway are just CGI
Just watched both trailers. Hesston and Fonda get you at least one star on a rating. It was called drama for a reason.
This 1976 Midway surpassed the 2019 in respect to every category from excellent screenplay, dialogue, and authentic battle film clips.
Ok
you’re tripping.
@@bayyoud tripping in what way? My appologies I tend to be analytical from time to time.
Everything in the remake was green screen and cgi plus it looks Soo generic. This by the trailer alone looks so much more interesting.
Imo it goes to show how uninteresting modern Hollywood really truly is!!!!
2019.
I still prefer this movie, than the one recently... you know?
@Colonel Of the 82nd Airborne Hey, you call me when you come to Japan. I'll buy you whole loads of alchols and will keep annoying you all night long bragging and whimpering about the history my family had.
If anyone decides to watch this film, watch 'Tora Tora Tora', 1970 and 'Bridge to the Sun', 1961 before. Excellent way to set up a mood!
Unfortunately, "Midway" was a bit of a cheat. I did not have a problem with the real World War Two footage that the filmmakers used, even though it was 'colorized' rather clumsily; but I had a BIG PROBLEM with the plethora of action footage lifted directly from "Tora, Tora Tora"; which, in my opinion, was a far better movie. This was Universal pictures simply cutting corners during this era, in much the same way they did with "Airport 1975" and "Earthquake". The movie was also greatly harmed by the pathetic, totally unrealistic subplot involving Edward Albert and his 'love' for the so-called Japanese-American girl. My Uncle was a Navy officer, and he informed me that if a Navy officer in 1942 tried to get a woman like this transferred to the United States, he would be court martialed!
@@philiphatfield5666 It does make for a good Father's Day film though. I love the Father Son dynamic rather than the romantic subplot.
Midway (1976) was awesome WW2 flim and is my all-time Action WW2 flim that I watch it on AMC Channel.
great movies with best actors!!!!!!!.......
All the actors were far too old in this crap movie.
I disagree
I need to bleach the CGI nonsense of the new movie's trailer from my eyes with this.
yeah considering the fact the only "effects" they used in this one are REAL war footage of planes being shot down!!
Ok
This movie is a 1000 times better than the cgi monstrosity that is Midway(2019).
Naw
@@lillemon7024 Figures. You don't even speak English.
Idk, the 2019 is pretty damn outstanding
Better than 2019 Midway
Definitely will be the only real midway movie 💯
Nope, 2019 is better.
This is great because it has Toshiro Mifune as Admiral Yamamoto
This was an awesome movie
Sorry but if you disregard the dated Special effects, the 1976 movie Modway is actually BETTER than the 2019 Midway Movie ( the older movie had better acting , better dialogue, and more emotional impact AND despite the made up characters, showed more of the actual combat where Army and marines got involved in the fight too)
2019.
I'm here for the new but did see this original version when it came out in theaters...
Una buena película y un EXCELENTE reparto. ¡Por favor señores! Cómo olvidarla.
donde puedo verla en español o subtitulada ????'
DAYUM! I never knew there was a version prior to the new one!
Oh Jesus...
Yeah, a better version.
No awful CGI, model warships, actual explosives. And good cast of actors instead of those C rate ones
Looks better than the 2019 remake with it's fake looking CGI.
😸
new cg lol
@@user-hk3vu4mh4q You said it.
Ok
No, it doesn’t.
Midway (1976) is a good but not great movie. But it is 22 times as good as the 2019 version.
Who's here after being disappointed with the 2019 Midway?
Yup
How did they get away with using sequences from Tora Tora Tora 🤣
The new Midway film's use of CGI is SO much better. F6F Hellcats and Essex class carriers are a real detraction to this.
The new film also didn't have to change historical names, and like in the other new Midway film Dauntless air group commander Miles Browning is not spared.
There should have been better, cursory CGI scenes of the Midway-based USAAF and USMC air attacks, and unlike the old film the new film omitted the fighter combat ... and fighter commander Jimmy Thach's Thach Weave defensive tactic ... completely.
There should be a Director's Cut with the necessary additional scenes.
Hi ! Well it's 6th Nov., 2019 & I heard about the 2019 Movie "YESTERDAY !! " I saw this FANTASTIC MOVIE in the Somerset Theater in Ottawa, ON, I recall it to be in the summer of 1976, just before I turned 15 years old ! I was very interested in WW2, as to me all WW1 stuff seemed so silly, as the cameras of that time played the "stuff before the talkies ! ( groan !) Still, I'd never heard much about Midway, and to make it even more cool, some local war model club had set up "under glass (makes it better)" models of all of the planes in the movie, AND...(Homer Simpson drool noise RIGHT HERE) large models of tghe U.S. & Japanese carriers. ADD to that "SENSE-Surround "(spelling ?) well it was one of the most amazing events I ever went to. Like...if say, Pink Floyd meets The Smithsonian Museum's sponsoring of George Lucas's "An Actual Thing That Really Has Or Ever Will Happen", a Spike Lee Joint. So yes, my opinion was "favorable".
I suppose that cartoon movies have their place, fun is great, yes "I am PRO-FUN !! I don't care who knows ! lol !!" But to watch what real people did with the most sophisticated technology in the world at their time, brings up a concern to me. That is I wonder if nowdays if even something like "changing the course of human history, in far fewer minutes than these movies run, if it is possible to still be able to "WOW !"{ those who have never seen or even heard of this. There are a lot of war films, a lot of battles, but there has never been event like the balltle of Midway, and when you think about it, in the 1970's what an amazing job they did w/o CGI,etc. I imagine there were concerns in 1976 that Midway could be a huge flop. I don't know if it did well or not. Can you make money with historical recreations anymore ? Man I hope so! Maybe some day expand on "Enemies At The Gate", with a Hitler vs. Stalin movie, "KURSK" perhaps? Until then, I hope that you & "the right company" will go & watch BOTH the new & old "MIDWAY" movies. Just perhaps, Aqua--Pants Square Bob, can wait a little while ! (lol !!)
YAWN Zzzzzzzzzz
The hell
The most star studded geezer fest in the history of war movies!
Mitchum never went full geezer.
Those geezers did a great job of bringing history or some version of it. alive.
Geezerfest....what a descriptive term ha ha .!
Saw this in a threater called Universal cinema hehehehe
Tom Selleck and Eric Estrada are in this movie playing pilots
Tom Selleck did not play a pilot but in the land forces of the island.
This movie would be so much better if they didn't reuse so much stock footage from Tora Tora Tora.
The Clube Man Richard fleischer was angry with Universal using it.
I think Tom Selleck was also in this.
Yes he was, so was Eric Estrada lol!!!!!!!!!!
@@eddierodrgz77 and the late Pat Morita too.
Half of the males in Hollywood was in this picture.
Nagumo was a fool!
The old midway movie was 1000 time better than the new one!
that cros over
AF was the Japanese codeword for Midway Island
RW:saw it myself ,not a bad movie atall.
Midway 1976 is better than Midway 2019
I love just see all my old heroes in this movie and is just missing John Wayne great movie I like the new one as well but not the CGI computer crap
I always like the Japanese woman from this preview.
the ad is midway
Some of this is from Tora Tora Tora
Funny. If you close your eyes, it's like hearing American fighting against American.
One of the very best World War II movies made in the 1970's. Midway is much better than that overhyped movie Patton. Of all of the movies in the 1970's about World War II, Patton was the most overhyped one of all of them and the very least paid attention to were the Class of 44 where the Summer of 42 left off, the Summer of 42, MacArthur & Midway were & are the least paid attention to World War II movies made in the 1970's.
1:24 Dad...
Thats a good historical point.
🍓5!!! 😉👍
Stock footage and fake Japanese planes so real.
Because there were a lot of flyable Japanese planes left over after WWII
Stock footage is literally real
The only people who like 1976 is a 34 yo dude like my 40 yo mom likes the new one better than the old one
Yo mahn. 🥴
"Saving Private Ryan" grinds every other war movie into the dust.
Plenty of mistakes in that film too...The only part worth watching is the beach assault.. "Band of Brothers" grinds this into the dust for accuracy and realism...
And yet neither have dogfights and are therefore inferior to this.
Definitely not Cross Of Iron, The Thin Red Line or Stalingrad
@@iangoldstraw6002 agreed, B.O.B. was excellent... Along with Stalingrad (1993), Generation War, Black Hawk Down, and The Thin Red Line.
Don't forget to mention: The Pacific Series, Flags of our fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima.
never seen so many mistakes in a war movie.Torpedo bombers with no torpedo.same with dive bombers Garths Dauntless turns into a F9F when crashing.
Heheheh, you noticed that too. The irony is that the F9F crash which occurred in 1951 was on the USS Midway.
The next Battle of Midway will be Taiwan.
