  • I was so tired of my petrol weed whacker...
    What with the smell from the petrol, fumes, the noise, the maintenance, the cost of petrol etc etc.
    Living in an off grid solar house the logical solution was an electric weed whacker. I am really happy with it, it has worked amazingly so far with none of the headaches (literally) of a petrol weed whacker!
    Trying some click bait technique on this video with modified thumbnail and such. see if i get much traffic.
    We are building a passive solar homestead and planning a big permaculture food forest, mandala veggi garden, swimming pond and much more!

      im very happy with it and i use it a lot more than my petrol one. When i see something that needs mowing, i just whip it out plug the battery in and get to mowing. No mess, no petrol, no fumes, no fafing about with it to start it up. just plug and play ;)

    A friend recommended the FSA90 although I haven't seen it in action so came on YT to look - looks just what I need. Really need a cordless with power and this looks just the job. Cheers for posting this up.

    Just bought one and the second time I used it the metal cord guide came off! So had to take it back to the store to be repaired!

    When I listened to your petrol vs. solar calculations ate the begining of the video I knew you were one of us... a peak-oil aware permacultor! :-D I got one question: is that fennel what you are weeding around minute 6? We are interested in having a battery-powered machine in our own permaculture project in Galicia, but we are not sure about the appropiate model we should use (I mean if FSA 90 can cut grown up fennel it would be OK for our kind of vegetation). Thanks. (BTW: I tried to find an email or contact form at your site but I couldn't find one).

      Holaaaaa!
      Yes that is fennel. It cuts through it very easily and I have a whole field full of the stuff. I am extremely happy with this machine

    Hola!

Si te puedo responder a alguna pregunta mas no dudes. saludos!

    Nice stuff!
    I went with the Stihl HSA56 hedge trimmer to do the exact same type of work and it works out great as well, obviously not as ergonomic but I'm still young and can always mount it to a dolly as a sickle bar mower.
    Where exactly are you? It looks just like the Portugese Algarve.

      Hi,
      thanks man. yeah Stihl have a great range of battery operated tools. Im done with petrol ;)
      Im in Mallorca, Spain.. so similar to some areas of Portugal

    if your petrol trimmer burns atank of fuel in 35 mins itsgot something wrong with it. I can do a whole yard I mow(large size about 3/4 the entire block) on afull tank of fuel

    • @Mandalaman
      @Mandalaman  Před 6 lety +1

      or maybe it just has a small tank...
      its irrelevant now anyway, the electric strimmer works much better. Its a lot more practical, makes less noise, has no petrol fumes, no maintenance, etc and costs me 0 to run.
      thanks for your comment.

      southaussiegarbo 2054 I tried one of these out for a shop on a demo, instead of my usual fs 360, the shop was like "yeh it's amazing" I used it for 3 minutes and put it down and went back to the 360, the lipo strimmer is heavy, uncomfortable and crap for power! And the unit is more expensive than a brand new fs360

    • @jamesedwards6589
      @jamesedwards6589 Před 6 lety

      Mandala man the electric strimmer is crap sorry, but get a sthil fs 360 everything you need is in the box, no worries about buying extras,.

      If it has a small tank then your calculations were wrong in more than one way. There is no need to be disingenuous about your reasoning. More pratical: yes. Less noise: yes. No petrol fumes: yes, but its not a problem. No maintenance: well, gas trimmers dont require much.
