    Being from Cape May I take for granted all the unique things and events that happened in the town, very cool to get a game based in the area. All of the text on the cards and the buildings shown are all real events or places, my church is one of the 2 that were shown. Hopefully there's an event card that is the flooding of South Cape May, which is now under water!

    I think I have a reason now to design blueprints for cities thanks to this game. Even the game could be a good display of a city on a coffee table with those cute houses on it, meeples walking around the city, and the board being the ground for the city.

    I'm surprised I don't hear about this game more. To me, it is the perfect "level up" from Monopoly and so, so, so much fun. It's got property acquisition but with neat twists and turns.

    This game looks gorgeous! Seems to have a bit of a Cthulhu Mythos type of game feel to it. The event cards, the movement around the board, the ocean being so close... maybe Dagon awaits in the waves ready to strike this resort town at any moment!

      @QuestLink Před 2 lety +2

      i'll say something a little provoking here, but wouldn't this apply to many other games? "less is more" is a philosophy that i wish i could see more often in the board game market...or maybe it's just me who can't find anybody willing to play games more complex than monopoly or risk *sigh*

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  Před 2 lety +2

      @@QuestLink Yeah, I think it depends on a person's particular situation, sometimes "more" is more. For me, it varies from group to group. Sometimes I'm looking for something with less complexity, and other times I enjoy all the extra things to factor in and consider.

    • @danpsou
      @danpsou Před 2 lety +2

      @@QuestLink I agree that a lot of these games become a lot harder to get to the table to those of us who usually (or always) play with people who are not board game enthusiasts.
      In my case, I can get a couple of plays a year of something a little more involved.
      But mostly I have to keep renewing my party game collection to get some variety, because those are the ones I can get to play more often.
      That said, I'm personally very enticed by these mid-weight games with lots of varied cards etc. I just know I won't get to play them often at this point in life 😉

  • @teejleague3838
    @teejleague3838 Před 2 lety

    We got this game for Christmas and it is SO FUN...and so full of both strategy and surprises! I thought I was doing awesome because I was accumulating radical wealth throughout the game, but then, at the end, because offices don't count for that part, and because my husband had built more landmarks than me, HE won! Can you believe it?!? XD Anyway, it was not only an super fun game to play, but those buildings are A-MA-ZING!!!! Even the little tokens of the cottages and stores...if you turn them over, they show the opposite side of the buildings. That's a really nice touch. Somebody has really thought about balancing the elements of this game, and the design of it as well.
    The game has a great feel of whimsy, but the historical element is fascinating and anchors it into history. I had no IDEA so many things had happened to Cape May, nor would I have ever even considered that something like the World Fair would've hurt the tourism of Cape May for a while. Awesome game.

    Hey Rodney! Love this game so far. Quick question: I have a bonus card that reads “have at least 6 buildings adjacent to or across the street from a church”. The back of the rule packet shows the STREET spaces that are adjacent to the churches, but I’m unclear on what counts as across the street building spaces or adjacent to building spaces. Thanks for the great video!
