    I also have the JBL PRX715-XLF's and the JBL PRX712's and think they are a great mobile wedding DJ setup. Lighter, look good, build better than QSC and wayyy cheaper in price than any QSC.

    Two 15's will out perform a single 18. Most single 18s are heavy and take two people to carry and move around especially if there are steps. It's best to not setup the subs on poles on both sides of the DJ. If you do this you will get dead spots for bass on the dancefloor. Put a single sub or couple both subs in front of the dancefloor for a nice even sound without dead areas on the dancefloor.
    I do agree with what he is saying about 18 inch subs being better. The choice of going with 15s should be based on you having a lack of space in your vehicle or a lack of a roadie to help you move your big subs. For hip hop I like to run four 18 subs with two tops. Two double 18 subs would also be good.

      No, it depends on what box they are. But if we are talking about 2 715 vs 1 718. The 715 will outperform the 18 in the 50-80hz range. Below, the 18 will win

    Thanks for honest review! I play in a 70's classic rock band and I'm thinking of getting this to expand the sound system. Have you ever used them to live mix a band? If so how did they perform.

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  Před 8 lety +1

      +Greg Biolsi I used it for live sound once for the company I work for as a monitor for a drummer. The drummer loved it and said it was porbably the best sounding sub he had ever heard. This sub does a great job of replicating kick bass found in most bands.

    Great video man. I recently got myself some of these speakers, but how do you take them off stand mode once it happens? It happened to me and i played a track but it didn't play and it stayed in standby

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  Před 7 lety

      +Victor Arias they automatically switch between standby and live mode. You have to be sending a decent signal to the subwoofers. Check the signial light on the back next time when your playing your track and they dont jump off standby. The signal light must be green for them to go live.

      Yeah, I have (2) Behringer B1200d for now, mainly because I couldn't find anything light enough to move around. They are less than 45 lbs. but I live your review and agreed, 18s will give you the best but I have no desire to haul 18s. Just to much, and I haven't done 300+ gigs yet. I have been doing 75 to 150 so far. I also agree with coupling the speakers but it's so convenient to use the sticks.

    Hi Rick, nice vdeo on this sub. Ive had my eye on this sub for a few years now and finally picked one up 2 days ago. I havent taken it out yet in a big room and was only able to test it in my kitchen. I love the size and weight and also seems to be built well. Can the clip light flash for a while without it shutting down?

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  Před 7 lety

      +DJ-RALPHY yes sir. I run mine normally with the limit lite bouncing to the beat. Its perfectly normal and fine to have your clip/limit ligjg flash/bouce to the beat. Check out my how to set up powered speakers video for more detail on that

    • @DJRALPHY4U
      @DJRALPHY4U Před 7 lety

      DJ Rick Web Thanks for the reply Rick. My name is DJ Ralphy from Chicago. I was a little concerned whem I seen the limit light come on. Im planning on getting a second sub soon. I have to say it even looks sexy. they almost match my EV ELX112P. How do you know when you have reached a full limit point?

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  Před 7 lety

      +DJ-RALPHY the limit light indicates the max amp power is pushing. The safe max is a limit light flashing on the bass hits basically. Or in other terms bouncing to the same beat you would be tapping you foot to the bpm. Any time the light stays on solid for more then 2 seconds I would say back off the gain. To be honest JBL put a lot of backup into these subs and speakers. I was at an outdoor hot gig and one of the 15 subs shut off on me at some point. Checked the other it was pushing way to hard. Sub shut its self off to protect it. Next day work just like new again.
