I would go with a zf for straight line performance. the BTR has a really tall first gear that hurts your times and as for Manuel I wouldn’t go for one the zf is just faster
BTR's can take a beating with a shift kit and trans cooler.

I reckon you should have tried to turbo the old sohc motor...head studs, new gasket and it would be sweet. They handle boost just fine. But can't go wrong with a barra.
looking forward to following this as I have a XH Panel van and am. wanting to put a barra in it also.

The flash tuners didn’t come out till ‘05. Before then, you had to run piggybacks, like Unichip and Xede! The Blackoak (ba ecu) was very hard to crack in the early days.

I have the exact same car. Got some scratching pm the paint tho, i've tried finding places that can colour match the paint (paint code is matching white for some reason W4)

dont put a stock barra turbo manifold they sound terrible, chuck a bit of money and get a 6boost car will sound mad

Yea the mighty Barra in the e-series falcon I want to barra swap my e-series but a n/a barra not a gassy or turbo
I've seen a Barra 182 EF Wagon before, pretty cool, I'd do the same thing except if the E-series is an XR model, because back then, at least to me the XR6's made sense, the newer ones not so much since they had the same power as an XT

If you're serious about chasing a 10, from those 3 options... ZF is your only realistic option. BTR's are shiiiiiiiiit & manual, although awesome on the street. They're a real pain in the arse for any consistancy on the strip, and regrettably also generally slower thanks to the human factor.

Nothing at all wrong with s Btr. The early ones were better then B series boxes and trans cooled and with a few goodies can take 400 kw. Best thing about them.is abuilt Btr will cost 3 -4 g..zf a lot more

It’s just insane to swap it. There is Turbo kits for the original engine. To be honest I think Barra swapping everything is getting really really boring.

E series have a completely different suspension setup in the front so you won't be able to run any newer model falcon big brakes
After some real world testing, we found that the btr is a better gearbox for a higher a horsepower car in a straight line, the zf will make a slow car feel fast because it changes gear more but if you're running a decent amount of power, you'll benefit from a shift kit and high stall in a btr rather than the zf
That's not true what so ever.. FG K frame goes into E series quite easily.
BTR's are far from good with decent power, I have 420kw to the wheels and the BTR's don't last long at all. With 2 massive tranny coolers a shift kit and 3000rpm stall. They are junk. Go straight to a th400

@@alpharaptor7510 there is a good reason so many people do barra swaps, they work very well and make good power for little money in the grand scheme of things, personally i dont think it's worth building the intech, alot easier and cheaper to gas barra swap it for the power goal

@@alpharaptor7510 yea but i dont asume rex has money to build an intech because for his power goal, he would have to build the bottom end of an intech to handle 400kw and it's not cheap to build a motor, where as buying a gas barra motor, you dont have to touch the bottom end. I get it's been done alot but there is a good reason for it, theyre cheap reliable motors that are very capable.

Yeah barra swap is overkill when the sohc is such a capable motor......I would personally rebuild the SOHC and purchase a turbo kit. But his got help with the swap which is probably why his doing the swap.
