Balaur Arms Itailian Longsword | Feels and cuts like a lightsaber | Medieval Sword Review

- Balaur Arms is a brand from Kult of Athena and is releasing sharp, battle-ready European AND Japanese style swords for a bargain. This is incredible as while the Japanese katana market has had enough time (and interest) to develop affordable, durable, and aesthetically pleasing swords for a low price, the European market has not. LK Chen and Kult of Athena seem to be addressing this space in the market with their Balaur Arms line of European swords. Based on our testing, their Italian Longsword is light, sharp, durable, and comes with a scabbard for under $400.00 (as of 4/22/24). Swords like these may be what get more practitioners into cutting and/or collecting.

Had a friend who picked up a munitions grade version a while ago for cheap. The thing is absolutely amazing for the price ($200 ish when he bought it) cuts beautifully, and is fairly durable as well. Any balaur arms Swords will be good and cheap from my experience
Glad to hear your experience was similar. It really is a good sword
Very nice review! Thank you for showing this beautiful sword. I have my eyes on the German Longsword, but it's still back ordered in the store and i'm from Germany and with taxes and shipping i'll pay around $600. Still in the price range of other swords with that quality available from smiths in East Europe.
Great review Kai, and awesome swordsmanship as always! I have been playing with the BA Knight Templar and telling everyone who will listen about what a steal it is in terms of quality for the price it is offered at. Glad to see the 15th Century Italian Longsword is tracking the same way so far. Hope to test it out some day. Cheers!
Thank you so much! That's actually a sword we were looking at as well. I just watched your comparison video on it really cool stuff
I’m considering getting my first sword and this one is looking like a very strong contender. The standard grade is currently back ordered, but munition grade is in stock and a good bit cheaper. As someone who has never ordered any swords from KultofAthena or anywhere else, would there be a noticeable dropoff in quality by getting the munitions grade? I don’t want a wall hanger but I also wouldn’t be very bothered by a minor leather or stitching flaw. My main concern is a good blade.
You will love the munitions grade, then! Technically, that is what we received. It will certainly not be a wall hanger. The polish may just not be as nice as the standard grade, is all. The blade and fittings should all be the same.
@@ludusferocia8696 I appreciate your insight on it!
