It surprises me that Busch gardens did so much with so little space! And I think it somehow pays off in the end!
Thank Intamin and their high-speed switch track. The coaster laps the course twice.
It is still a joke compared to the original darkastle ride...is it really too much to ask that Busch Gardens have ONE dark ride that holds up modern standards? 😢
I think this is a good family coaster nothing outstanding but the effects and theming are really good, the space they had was very small so I commemorate them for taking a risk and building this and finally, every park needs something like this.
This will get packed on hot summer days for a way to cool off
@@EmberMcLain87 That is a good point and I agree it was a very smart decision for them to build this!!!
I agree, I think the anticipation was worth it
Don’t you mean congratulate?
looks very underwhelming
It’s a good indoor coaster, I’m just sad we had to lose DarKastle for it. The park needs a good dark ride
Darkastle was far better than this looks
Verboten?
@@duaneg9874 that’s a rollercoaster
@@think.culture Darkastle was excellent. I was very sad that it was closed.
Darkastel🎢😎 was much better
Wow I’ll be honest the theming and effects are much better than I was expecting
I mean, same company and park that had the theming idea for verbolten. Which is good and bad news because darkoaster is going to fall into disrepair in 5 years like verbolten did
@@breaksquad1236 hmm yeah I guess I didn’t think about that. I was mainly thinking about how pantheon was so bland in theming and I sort of expected this to be similar haha
@@demodex9653 oh ye They did pantheon dirty lol 😂
It looks TERRIBLE in person.
WOW! Okay that looks better than I was anticipating. Looks like a pretty good family coaster to me. It also has a longer ride time than I was expecting.
This was my 11 year olds first actual coaster, it's a better one than most people think when they first see it, you do two runs through the track, with a total of 4 hard and fast accelerations and the carts are unique in the way you sit and ride, this one and Verboten are great starter thrill coasters for little thrill seekers, if you can get them to like verbolten next, which has a 89' drop, the smallest in the park, you can pretty much get them on any other coaster after provided you can get them past going upside down, loch Ness monster would be the next one for a kid with it's 138' drop and two interlocking loops, after that, they can pretty much take anything the park has to offer
I'd never ridden a straddle type roller coaster before! Restrained only by a lap bar, with nothing against my back and holding onto the handles, the first launch really put the fear in me! Felt like if I lost my grip on the handlebars, I'd go flying! Short coaster, but the four accelerations and not knowing when they would happen made it a thrilling ride for me!
What’s funny is, when DarKastle opened in 2005, everyone including 13 year old me thought the ride would be like THIS. A roller coaster compacted into a frozen castle. A lot were actually disappointed that it was a dark RIDE like Spider-Man at Universal. Over time though, the fandom built up. So I’m happy we have DarKoaster now. I get the nostalgia I want at 30 with the cool storytelling, and something quick and fun between more intense like Griffon or Pantheon.
What's the new story?
@@Neku628It’s pretty confusing because it’s only told via spaced out props, but I think Ludwig (the wolf king dude who owned and haunted the castle in DarKastle) has disappeared and so a ghost hunting team has set up equipment inside of the castle (almost Ghostbusters-esque) but then there’s a huge arctic blizzard that traps them inside (so there’s ski props everywhere and storm detection equipment/storm radar displays), so the vehicle you’re on is like a snow mobile jet ski and the guests are told to “Brave the storm” or something.
It’s not completely clear though; with DarKastle there was a pre-show room that showed a video explaining the story super well, whereas there isn’t anything like that this time around.
Still a lot of fun, I think many just anticipated more of a clear story, given the intricate tale of DarKastle.
Damn that’s better than I thought. Reminds me a lot of revenge of the mummy
That’s what i was thinking when i rode it
Those storm clouds looked really cool
I knew you guys wouldn’t miss out on this coaster, especially because I’ve seen both of you in a Sharp productions video covering the same thing!
This looks better than Tron and it didn’t take five years and a half a billion dollars with broken reserve ride time system 👍🏻👍🏻
Ikr?
we went on during member preview day, and i was disappointed since i was expecting more and some of the effects were down. but, ive had a change of heard seeing all the effects up.
I am glad they made this ride so all the kids can clog the lines and I can ride the better coasters.
😂this comment aged well. Darkoaster was terrible and the longest line we were in.
@@navyplumberboy8274 haha! Sorry you had to wait for a crappy ride! They spent a lot of money on it too.
@@Dr80ew geez. Perfectly good building wasted.
I was so pumped for you to make this
This is such a step up for America in terms of theming for props up to them
Good to see the effects on for the opening, on my preview ride, only half of those effects were operating
Might need to revisit old Bush gardens next year on my vacation. Looks fun.
is "old busch gardens" what people refer to my home park as? 😭😭
@@Cyder probably should have said good old bush gardens. between that and kings dominion i miss living in a state with 2 parks as my home parks. now i gotta travel 3 hours north for carowinds, 9 west for kentucky kingdom, or 6-7 south for six flags over georgia.
Looks awesome !
Screamed my ass off on this ride 😂😂
I went on that ride my friend's mom told us that it's not going to be scary and not going to be too big because it's indoor but when I went on it it was fast and very fun I loved it it was probably my favorite ride
This coaster looks cool.
The ride needs some fog to mask the building's walls. We're supposed to be in an immersive theme of a storm.
I think use of fog would really go a long way to better sell the theme. From on ride you can see the walls and track better than this POV shows.
Since they didn't go all out and make this a Disney level themed attraction (which was always a farfetched idea to begin with) I think it would be really cool if they just made minor thematic improvements to this ride on a yearly basis. They just add one or two effects per year to let it slowly evolve. I think that 5-6 years in it could look really cool without breaking the budget in a single year or requiring excessive downtime. Plus, if DarKoaster was always changing it would inherently generate a certain level of enduring interest in the ride because people would always want to come back and see the latest updates.
So excited to see this sneak peak
I’m going to BGW today, cant wait to ride it!
The end with PortAventura World in the background 🤩 You know that on June 17th they release Uncharted the enigma of Penitence. It's an indoor coaster by Intamin, a multi-dimensional coaster. It looks really good.
I'm really looking forward to ride this 😊
I still miss the dark ride.
I went on this with my daughter it was amazing I totally recommend 👍🏼
Hopefully we get a pov of your alls reactions !
The soundtrack is sooo good tho!
When I went last year most people getting off were complaining that it wasn't good or was boring. Even as a big coaster fan I thought it was a fun ride
This is the perfect buffer to get children to brave up and ride verbolten.
Can’t wait for your Wildcats revenge video!!!!
Is the roller coaster portion similar to Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios Orlando? I think mummy is probably faster though…
does it go faster the second time around the course?
My 6’ 3” nephew was too tall to ride it, so we didn’t ride yesterday. Good to see what it actually looks like inside.
Dang I’m the same height and I wouldn’t be able to ride it :(
@@Lagooncoastersfan my boyfriend is 6’4” and we rode it today. I WISH they had turned us away the coaster was HORRIBLE compared to the original Darkastle. Such a disappointment.
@@squirrelfruit7052Would you like lose your head if you were like 6’7 and riding this
Saw the outside in April 23, nice to see it up and running. Can't wait to ride it next time.
I have a season pass for BGW and I still haven't been on this ride because the wait is always at like 190 minutes 😂
When I went, I thought that it would just be a haunted house ride, so I didn’t ride it. But now that I saw this, I completely regret not riding this.
Its look great another winner for this great park, i wish they could open battle of Emile fire in Ireland or replace it. The park needs another indoor attraction. Busch Gardens is now open year around yet the park is in Virginia which has coolmonths like Dec, Jan, Feb. More indoor attractions, is a must. Plus they need to open more shows or change the shows in England and Ireland.
I can't tell whats going on in there but it looks fun.
Taylor I was going to go to the opening today but my mom has to work so we couldn’t go but I will get around to checking it out eventually at least I can see what it’s like before I ride
Why were there two bright lights illuminating the front of the train? They seemed to wash out all of the themed effects.
They weren't there when I rode, I think those may have been other riders
For 36mph and only one strap thing, this is more family friendly than i expected
Now the Germany land has 2 (atleast semi) indoor launch coasters with a spooky theme lol
In Sharp Productions POV of DarKoaster you can see Taylor and Sarah in the front row at the 1 minute twenty-two seconds mark😂
I’m surprised this roller coaster wasn’t that scary at all and is sort of like the autobahn ride in the German area.
On the darkoaster i was scared i would let go of the handels and hurt my neck that almost happened because the launches are a bit intense and hard to hold back and there were no headrest 10/10 the ride was amazing and it was smooth
Didn't get to ride due to an extremely long line and Fast Queue didn’t make sense to ride in the dark. What's BGW affinity for Dark themes. What's the difference between the Darkcoaster and Verbolten?
All rides are based on said area lore, religion, mythology, etc etc. this one isn’t as intense as verbolten imo. But yeah that’s pretty much why a lot of dark or creature/paranormal themed rides are made. Oh also folklore
DarKoaster is a huge step down in terms of intensity, aimed for kids. It's meant to be more of a replacement for the family ride DarKastle than an actual new rollercoaster for the park
I’m around 6’3 and may or may not be able to ride
Did it have drops?
Standing in this atrocious line as I’m posting this comment.
The beer in the German village is amazing by the way.
I heard the story was expanded upon. What are the new additions to the previous story? Ludwig's mom helped us escape from the castle and Ludwig last time.
Yet again another launch coaster at this park.
Rode it today. Pretty cool but not at all worth the hour and a half wait in line haha. Pantheon is dope.
Theming looks better than Avengers Flight Force at least!
It seems like a version of Revenge of the Mummy that DOESNT kinda suck! Like the best parts of the Orlando version of Mummy mixed with RockenRollerCoaster
Does it give airtime or is it just going fast?
Neither
Neither
It’s a lot slower than it looks but it looks really cool
Same height requirement as Verbolten and Verbolten is the better ride; also it's just around the corner. Only good for those a little afraid of coasters I guess (they'll probably still be a bit scared since its dark but definitely less thrilling than Verbolten). Would've been better if slighty shorter kids could ride (46" like Invader maybe) given the intensity. Not worth more than 10 min wait especially if Verbolten is operable. I may be a little salty since I waited over two hours for it lol.
I waited 3 hours for this to malfunction plus the wait doesn’t even seem like it was worth it for the ride.
I remember at the end of the ride when we hit the brake run and went into the mouth I yelled "That's cannibalism!"
I went yesterday I was half way through the line and then the rude had something break made me so mad
seems like it only turns to the left
I think is gonna happen in empire of the penguin with this coaster but I prefer dark rides
In the same park as Verbolten this feels a little redundant and looks a lot like that rides indoor moment
Since I’m the first to comment can you take me to Busch Gardens, Williamsburg tomorrow?
That’s a darkoaster alright
No way they already finished building this
Does anyone know how intense the stomach feeling on this is?
its not
The effects weren’t good for the wait but if it was just straight up black it would be better in my opinion
I waited for 3 hours for this a few months ago and it was not worth it 😭😭
I will NEVER forget what Busch gardens has taken from us. This ride was SO BAD and half of the “theming” and decorations looked like they were from spirit Halloween I’m not even joking. If you’ve ridden the original you would know what Busch Gardens and Intamin are capable of doing in this space and you too would be as disappointed as I am.
Anyone here want to ride Verbolten?
It's 2023. The effects are B movie from 1983 tier.
This ride itself was fun but I miss the whole 3D spooky story to it. All it had was some spirit Halloween decorations inside and the whole snowmobile aspect made no sense
A fun and great themed ride, but not worth the wait of an hour and thirty minutes
Where's Dracula
But why jet skis
Ghosts gotta have fun too.
I wouldn’t wait more than 20 minutes for this coaster. They missed the mark on this one.
Boo! Bring back the 3D ride (for those of us who can’t ride launch coasters)!😢
The lines were 2 hours for this. It's fun but not nearly worth 2 hours. No drops just 2 launches and some flashes. Elmo's coaster goes harder than this ride. For any nor familiar with busch gardens I suggest riding invader, it has the same vibe but feels more like a coaster. Just a little more jerky, but it is fully wooden
Roller coaster was just created to early in my opinion. They could habe used a lot of the outside of the tower. Anyways, i think that with a little more thought, the coaster would be much better looking and easier to create. If you ask me my opinion whether the coaster is under or overrated, i’d have to say that the coaster is very overrated. It’s a family coaster, but it’s not Verbolten. That’s all i’ll say.
Darkoaster>Tron Lightcycle
Great idea, terrible execution. So much potential for theming and audio, but much like Pantheon, they fell far from their old theming standards.
SEAS set the bar really low with Pantheon and Emperor, and their minimal presentation. I'm pleasantly surprised. This is a step up - beyond Six Flags and easily up to Cedar Fair standards. That last screen effect is pretty impressive.
It's already an upgrade from Verbolten's embarrassment of a show building, but there's still room for improvement.
Just got off the ride. It’s okay at best, and for them to replace DarkCastle for this still amazes me, cause for an indoor ride no coaster it was a thousand times better. This ride is mid.
That purple light looks annoying to sit behind
It was just for the media preview, it’s not there normally.
not gonna lie the 2 other cameras really distracted me to the point i really couldnt watch the video.
Primordial is a lot better then darkoaster in my opinion
Rode this yesterday, all y’all praising the theming wait till you ride it. It all feels cheap and forced. Time to drop King Ludwig and the “history” of his storyline and do something better. While on the ride it’s all very cheap and not immersive at all. Feels forced. The coaster itself is fine and for the space and the switch track, it’s great. But the theming is awful and if you feel differently I’m sorry to tell you, your wrong.
I 100% agree. Absolutely does not hold up to the other world class coasters in the park. They definitely need some more theming in the ride. I had pictured DarKastle but a rollercoaster and it felt like a launch coaster version of Grover's Alpine Express in the dark.
Bingo. It’s not dark enough and you come by the loading station on the 2nd lap and can see DIRECTLY INTO IT
Though a bit different sounds like Orlando,FL Journey to Atlantis 1st started it had a theme but now theme is completely gone everything that happens feels useless other than getting wet
3 hour wait time today… not worth it at all
That’s it? Disappointed!
This ride is not worth, it the lines are horrible! The ride is very short and it’s got flashing lights! My friend threw up after! The ride also breaks down often, and the lines last up to 4 hours! Before me and my friend got on it broke down 5x! The employees were also disrespectful. This ride is bad, I do not recommend it!
This is extremely pathetic and sad. The ride is cheap and lousy.
In this one your are supposed to “escape a blizzard” or something in the story. Which makes no sense.
In the old ride when you escaped you were flying. So why do you have snowmobiles in this ride if you can fly? It doesn’t make sense.
They should of made the ride where you returned to the castle to defeat the king.
Cause in the old one you had to escape him.
No it’s actually really cool
This ride doesn't seem worth it at all. Seems so boring.
Uncreative with boring theming, I can’t believe Busch gardens wanted to do this and was passionate about it??? INTAMIN definitely wasn’t
That bulk discount from intamin does wonders. Wait until you see whats coming next. 👀
Haha Intamins were built to be themed!
Keep crying thoosie
Honestly... this ride sucked and it felt cheap. Tv screens scattered in random places. Like a kinder gartner made it.
This is awful. The original ride was a million times better, it had great sound effects, great visuals, everything. This is a mess.
I want to come see you
this ride was so mid i waited 2 hours and everyone on my cart sat there like 🧍♀️the whole time
