Thank you for this video and showing different fabrics! You’re right that their videos make it look like magic. I was considering this product but hesitant bc 1) the price, and 2) the Amazon reviews are basically like yours: 4.0/5⭐️ “it works so-so”. I’m needing something that is going to deep-clean, within my budget. I don’t mind having to use a couple different products, but I want to make sure the end result is going to be worth the work and cost of course. Thanks again for this realistic demo, it’s going to heavily factor into whatever I end up deciding to buy ❤
You are very welcome! I am still glad I have it, but not an all in one solution, but this in combination with my cheaper vacuum cleaner does a good job. A really expensive and powerful vacuum like a dyson is a more all-in-one solution. But even then sometimes vacuums just won't work, and a tool like this will help, it is just not as good as they make it seem, haha, that is marketing for you!
I just got mine today and it scared me at first because it sticks! I was afraid it might tear the fabric and so I didn’t put force into it at first. Maybe why he didn’t do that in this video but after playing with mine a bit I realized it wasn’t going to do that if I just went for it and really raked it. The teeth are fine enough that once it gets a little hair on it it’s good to go and you can just press it down and rake on. Entirely different experience from there, it got every last bit of hair up! It’s amazing, I actually think I’m going to go ahead and invest in a few more different ones.
Glad you tried it! Yes it sticks that is how it pulls up the hair/fur. I did use force in the video, but you have to be careful with the fabric. I even mention that when I was doing the chair with the brown fabric, have to be much more gentle with that kind of fabric as opposed to the yellow canvas chair or the carpet stairs. It is definitely a decent little tool!
Interesting to see your experience because I have been curious about the product. It went about like I would have expected--things always look great in a promo but not so much in reality. I live with cats so I feel your pain with the fur mess, so here's some advice from a crazy old cat lady. There is a cheaper and easier way to deal with furry surfaces: rubber gloves and old towels. To clean up, put on a clean dry rubber glove and run your hand over the fabric--really works! Then put down old towels anywhere you know the kitties are gonna be nestling--cats love the texture of the fabric and you can wash the towels when they get furry or if, heaven forbid, they barf up a furball (cats are just gonna cat). And, just one more thing, if the cats will tolerate it give them a gentle brushing every day. My cat Frank thinks brushing is the best--he needs it; I swear I remove a whole cat's worth of fur every week and I can't imagine where it all comes from. Bless you for taking care of your brother's fur babies!
Thank you! Those are all great tips. I actually have a cat of my own as well, but she doesn't like my brother's cats so she stays outside. She also has very short fur and is an indoor/outdoor cat, so she doesn't even use the litter box indoors and usually only naps on one specific "cat couch" that I have. My brother and his family get to AZ next week, so I will be returning their cats to them then, phew! haha.
The canvas chair needs to have the fabric taught to get a better result. The cat was watching a new friend form😂. The commercial I saw they were putting some muscle behind their brushing, but watching him, it still works so it might be worth the money. Commercials are always 'like magic', always figure in real live about 75% of what they show. Thanks for your review.
I use these all the time, they work great. I'm probably a little more aggressive than you were, although I've never let cat and dog fur get that out of hand in our home. 2 larger Savannah cats, and a Labrador Retriever who sheds like mad multiple times a year.
That is awesome that you have Savannah cats!! I am a jealous!! haha. And yes it does work better when you are more aggressive which I have been doing since the video.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt the boys are a lot of work, at 9 and 10 years old they need 2-3 hours of play time interaction a day, and are mischievous home wreckers. No pictures on the wall, no plants, no paper products left out overnight and they still will find something to disassemble, break or tear up. They break into child proofed drawers and cabinets, open doors, use the ice and water dispenser on the fridge if you forget to use the child lock and they check the basement door daily to see if you forgot to lock it. We love them to death, but let’s just say they’re lucky they’re cute.
I have a spin-off version of this. It works wonderfully! I think in this video, you may have used the tool too gingerly. I use mine on the rug and cat towers, but really get in there! Once you're used to how it works (depending on the fabric), you can use it in a scrubbing motion, and it pulls up even more cat/dog hair.
Yeah it definitely depends on the type of fabric. That chair that with the brown fabric is just too fragile for it. It works very well on my yellow canvas chair and the carpet.
I use a fur slicker. Cleans the lounge chair, carpet and cat tree. And doesn’t cost $$$. . I get same results on canvas too, but before I toss into laundry I do get most of the fur off so not to clog filter on machine. The fabric on that green chair is not delicate. Go after that fur like No tomorrow than finish with vacuum
Yeah, try using a bit more vigor and make sure to use a 45 degree angle on the carpet, see if it does a better job. I still like the thing and use it, but again not the magic they make it seem in the marketing videos lol
@@inthekitchenwithmatt My favorite is Miracle Care Pets little red rubber curry brush. It's got densely packed little rubber fingers/nubs--different length on the two sides. It's meant to be a cat groomer. I use circular motion to quickly get heavy fur off and then one direction straight strokes to get the lighter stuff that's left. Use it on my couch, cat tree, dog (and cat) bed. Happy catting around.
I am a little higher than that, probably a 6 or 7, I have been since trying it on other fabrics and such, and it seems to do a decent job. But still not magic! lol
Awesome! I would start gently on your car seats and then firmer in inconspicuous areas just to make sure it doesn't ruin the seat. Good luck!@@michaelkopyscianski2312
Possibly! I have used it quite a bit since the video it still doesn't work like it shows in those advertisements. And I have tried it every which way possible
You can just as well, maybe even better than if you put duct tape with the sticky side up wrap it around your hand and press it on the cat hair and it sticks to the tape better than any hair removal that's been invented.
I use tape all the time haha, but it doesn't work well on carpet, only the top surface, tape doesn't dig into the carpet. Tape works wonders on clothes which is what I use it mostly for, packing tape though, not duct tape.
I got mine in the mail and tried it today but it doesn’t do anything at all doesn’t work. I don’t understand how everyone else is having success but mine doesn’t work at all?
Probably so, although those are expensive. This is ideal if you have some small places to clean up. Or stubborn places that a vacuum won't get the fur.
I've used something similar, but when i put too much pressure, i guess, the block that has the zipper like portion came out because it was just glued on. Is this particular kind just glued on, or different?
It entirely depends on your vacuum if you have a really expensive vacuum it will probably work fine. Mine is a very cheap one and doesn't work well. Especially when the cat fur has been pressed down into the carpet from being walked on etc.
The vacuum is fantastic for loose hair, but the way some hairs actually work there way quite tightly and intricately into the fabric weave, then something like this is superior... the hair "sticks" to rubber(and silicone) just enough to pull the hairs out of the weave.
People could do what they really SHOULD have been doing all along. Brush your pets!!! Regular grooming is the healthiest method of eliminating loose old hair at source. Don't people GROOM their pets anymore? How lazy and dumb are we? fThat's just goog health care for them and common sense which is no longer COMMON obviously!
Even with grooming them it is impossible to get all the fur. Pets lay around everywhere, and the fur just falls out regardless how much you groom them. This isn't about that though, you kinda missed the point of the video, it is simply a review of that tool and see if it works as described.
Yeah, Matt; no offense but I think I'll give this one a miss; not that I have cats, I'm deathly afraid of all cats, tho I think they're beautiful creatures; I only have dogs, and I find the hand vacuum gets rid of any pet hair real good on furniture, and a really good vac for the floors is all one needs; far better than that piece of plastic. lol. But hey, I did give your video a like, but only 'cos I like you, not the piece of er... garbage, for want of a more demure expression, that you wasted your money on. Sowwy, just wasn't impressed by the product. :)
I think they're referring to the way the (blades?) Work. One way, they pull opposite and don't pick up as much hair. But flip it, and it gets everything.

Try and see if it will do better getting wet. I have one and I have to use water for it to work.
Will do, although it isn't supposed to wet according to the instructions.
I think it’s operator error… I’m sure if you not only put more pressure and use quick small strokes, it would work better.

Like dipping it into water and then scraping the the fur off
Interesing idea

Try using a bit more force and make sure to keep it at a 45 degree angle. That may help.
You’re better off just buying a good vacuum like a Sebo or Lindhaus
Probably so, although those are expensive. This is ideal if you have some small places to clean up. Or stubborn places that a vacuum won't get the fur.

I don't know, I have only used this one. Not sure how it compares to others. And the "gold zipper" part hasn't fallen off for me.
Would be nice to see how a vacuum works compared to the tool

How much, if any, does all the fur and lint stick to the tool?
It actually doesn't stick too badly to the tool, and it is easy to clean it off. But mostly it just clumps it up as you drag it.

No it came from the 5 cats in my house for 3 months, 4 I was cat sitting for my brother and 1 was mine.
