Was at a seminar with Mig and someone brought up repainting old kits and Mig's response was to leave your old kits and use them as examples of your progress in the hobby. I've repainted a couple old kits feel I'd always rather just start something new - unless it's fixing damage that may have occurred.

Another idea is winter camo. Many times they used white wash or whatever white ish paint the had laying around and brushed and rolled it on in the cold so it flaked off real easy. Little hairspray, shipping fluid, or just a light touch with the airbrush can get great winter results.

This was a great tutorial Hank. I have a couple of old kits that live on ‘the shelf of shame’, and which could really do with a makeover, and this video has prompted me to cease my disdain of these kits, and try and give them a new life. The amount of accessories and upgrades for these kits that are available now, might mean they could escape from their ignominious past, and take their place on the ‘good shelf’. Also love the laid back music on this one mate.
You have a great channel Hank, and your build and tutorial videos have helped me, along with all of your subscribers, to enjoy our hobby more. Keep them coming my friend, and greetings from Australia 🇦🇺!

I usually just give my refurbished models away to a surprised kid at our annual model show at the Seattle Museum of Flight. It's fun to see their eyes light up with a model they weren't expecting. Nice refurbishment -- a great way to try a new finishing technique before you experiment on your latest work of art.
Wheel rule of thumb: For soft ground fit mud to tire treads and leave wheels fairly clean; for hard surface/asphalt dirty the wheel and leave the tread fairly clean. (Did those Tamiya wheels not have nylon retainers?)

1:22 Ammo's Dunkelgelb seems to be more "green" than the Vallejo model Air version which is more of a "bone" colour despite them having the same RAL code. Either way, it is a very useful colour to have even if you are painting more modern AFV kits.

Super tutorial. VMS has a stripper that works quite well, I'm still experimenting its best to soak the model however bottles are small liquid quantities, but reusable if you want to strip. The over spray is obviously easier and quicker. Do you control your pressure on air brush? Thanks for sharing.

I wish my old kits was saveable and transformation able they are so raggity from sitting on a self and not in display cases like all my most recent builds from last 5 years. Most of the ones that was on shelf and not display boxes or my huge glass display cabinet cause I was a kid and teen and didn't think of dust ruining them and falling off shelf ECT lol. I have maybe 4 out of the 50 models that have gotten ruined from l age and dust from when I was a kid and very young teen. I stopped model building at age 14 and just started again as an adult 5 years ago at age of 26 and now in smart enough to put them in a single display case or in the display cabinet. But thanks for the tips I should be able to rebuild most of them now using some of the tips and techniques you used in this video. I'll just reglue everything that's broken off and then repaint the whole model as one and not take it all apart and rebuild like that cause then I risk destroying pieces for no reason thanks.

Love your videos. I always try to catch them when they come out. I have a question for you. When you were painting the brown with the airbrush, was there a foam around the edges or a ring of another color paint in the bowl? It might be my eyes or the way the lights hit it. it just looked kinda funny. Of course if it is paint, what color was it?
