Adut Akech is one of, if not, the top models in the world. She is from South Sudan, but was forced to moved to Kenya and then Australia due to her and her family's status as refugees. She began as a model during Melbourne Fashion Week and was eventually an exclusive for Saint Laurent's Spring 2017 collection. Since then she has covered Vogue, Elle, Dazed & Confused, L'Officiel, and i-D just to name a few. And she has walked for Valentino, Chanel, Versace, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford, & Prada. She has become friends with legends like Naomi Campbell & Edward Enninful in the process too. So I wanted to react to the video because I find it so interesting to see what models wear on their off time. Like Kaia Gerber & Ashley Graham before her, Adut displays her own personal style in a way that is simple, yet shows a strong execution, especially when it comes to colorblocking.

Narcis[C]o? Really?? C'mon, buddy! You can do better than that. It's Spanish for Narcissus. It's not supposed to rhyme with Francisco.
She’s so incredibly beautiful!!! When I think of a “model” she instantly comes to mind. Also, her legs?????? Insane!!!

Adut is from South Sudan! She's a Sudanese queen, love seeing dark skin models paving the way for the next generation like Naomi and Grace did!
I was just wondering where she was from..thanks for the info!! 👍👍What a beauty!! ❤️❤️
Note: She did eventually move to Australia though, but her origin is South Sudan.
@@okayno8798 and most of her family is in Nairobi, Kenya
She is also from Australia.
@@CatMoca her being from Australia doesn't mean that she is not from s sudan, 🇸🇸 she is a full proud, partrotic s sudanese girl who is changing the narrative about her country 🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸

Dilemma of my fucking life istg
Australia as a whole, generally doesn't do fashion. I felt so uncomfortable wearing clothes I'd bought in Japan, in Australia. Australian fashion is somewhere between dressing for comfort, or dressing to feel sexy.
Edit: an exception for our fashion capital, Melbourne ;)
That's true, I very very rarely see any sort of out there or avant-garde looks in Brisbane, and smaller towns just have everyone in thongs and denim shorts, all from the same 5 or so fast fashion stores that are copy pasted into every mall. Even op shops are all h&m now :( I try to go out of my way to give compliments to people I see wearing something unique or different.
@@Ruby-xk8kn When you said thongs, I thought you meant the underwear but then I realized you meant slippers/sandals lmao
@@ellax325 haha I always forget thongs mean underwear to Americans! We call the underwear g-strings
Dion lee, P.A.M, Christopher esber? Where are you shopping?
Really? Because I remember staying in melbourne and thinking how fashionable especially the east asian community was, which makes up a quarter of the population.
I find it so funny that an industry has sprung up to create wires for wireless headphones 🤣 Find a niche and fill it!!
Didnt apple make something similar. The wireless trend is so dumb anyway. Like I get it but I dont get it.

Adut has modeled for Zara on various campaigns, so it makes a lot of sense that she wear them regularly as well:)
Y
Adut*
Adut doesn't live in Aus (but she comes back often to see her family). Australia is very humid in some parts in summer (tropical north) and dry in others. It is literally a huge country (a continent). This outfit you would not wear in summer in Australia except if you lived in Melbourne where the weather is so changeable. But you wouldn't wear it in the hotter humid places because of the boots and blazer. But def would wear in Melbourne. Australian's in summer in many places are very casual (thongs - the footwear type everywhere). But Melbourne and Sydney are a bit less casual and a bit more fashunnn. Hope that helps :) love the video Luke and love Adut!!
Absolutely Melbourne vibes! I mean, it would make sense to manage the horrible inside to outside transitions. You need the little jacket for freezing inside with the air con.
I get big Melbourne vibes too, she's from South Australia though so I dunno what that's about lol. Maybe Melbourne fashion week?
Rip Tasmania. Always forgotten 😔🤘🏻 Not that we’re a fashion capitol, but we basically have Melbourne weather
I got me some Zara jeans a couple of months ago too. Literally never found any decent jeans that fit me properly in my life but weirdly enough I found about 5 different cuts that fit me beautifully these past 2 seasons lmao. Either Zara has changed smth or my body has changed Idk.
girl me too.. zara has definitely changed, i love their jeans
Does their denim still have that smell?
@@CZA27 No it didn't have any smell for me. Anyways I literally wash every clothing item I buy the minute I get home, I'm pretty obsessed with that I can't relax until I've done it lol.
Where are y'all from? Zara in germany has still crazy small sizes. I feel like a huge monster when I try on clothing there.
Zara is legit with their campaigns.... I believe they are cast by Ashley Brokaw, who does shows like Prada and Louis Vuitton (the shows that are most known for launching new models). And i believe its styled by Karl Templar and shot by Steven Meisel. So Zara goes harder than most luxury brands. And Zara also hires most of the top models even to just shoot heir e-commerce.
And I dont think a brand as big as Zara needs to send clothes or sponsor anybody
all this is very true. many of zara’s major campaigns are photographed by meisel, sorrenti, directed by fabien baron… cast by the top casting directors in the world. it’s been their thing for a long time to mimic high end luxury brands at a more affordable price point
Doesn't Zara pay their models alot? I remember reading that either Zara or H&M pay way more than most brands for a campaign.
@@mckenziehart6228 yeah all the savings from forced and child labour gotta go somewhere right? 🥴 The world is sick.
@@alice73333 do yall ever have sources for the child labor you're going on about
I love how she doesn't shy away from color! The pops of color really add a lot of fun to her looks.
Australian here. Aus fashion is usually either amazing (you've got your zimmerman, your finders keepers etc) or terrible. In summer though it's super hot and humid in the north and drier in the south. The key is to try and have no more than one layer of fabric touching your skin at any time. Strappy crop tops are a big yes cos you're not dealing with armpit sweat (gross I know) and dresses are a MUST. Please do an Australian brand fashion review, they're killing the game and inspiring a LOT of US fashion atm.
There is also some deadly up and coming Aboriginal designers
Christine centenera (fashion director at vogue au) best embodies Australian chic
Actually Adut still works for Zara, she has been in the SS collection of this year
This was my favourite 7 days 7 looks! As an Aussie, she’s nailed that summer girl look, coastal heat is humid, where as if you move central Australia the heat becomes dry- either way she’s ready hahaha.
I think her style is exactly my type! It feels so simple but futuristic and fashionable! Not boring at all🥰 also practical👍
Any time Vogue posts one of those I get so excited thinking about how you might review it 😂😂
I used to be with the same agency as Adut years ago when she first started modelling, we worked and casted together plenty and now she’s THAT girl I can’t 😭😭 I pray my day will come
What Luke said about Zara is actually true. I read a case study on Zara from Harvard, and it stated that they have their stores in high end place or near luxury brand to appeal more luxurious even tho they aren't
Happy to watch this while organising my wardrobe for uni 😭
LMFAOO mee😭

omg your reaction when you found out the off white dress was ribbed is amazing, i am crying
I don't even care what she wears, the way she talks about clothing and accessories is so refreshing and you can just tell she is genuinely excited to wear those designers and appreciates the pieces.
lol I just watched this like 20 minutes and thought, “When will he make a video about her?” LOVE
Models usually go for comfort in their styles away from the runway and usually know what really suits them because they wear various looks and high heels often on runways, she definitely would slay a sexy look either way , Am really digging her overall style comfortable pop of color, fresh, young, trendy crisp yet not exactly in your face fashion ( not that there is anything wrong with statement pieces ) it just depends on what type of fashion statements you are going for in the end of the day. She is super gorgeous so am sure her figure can make a garbage bag look trendy i'd overall give her style sense 7/10 comfortably not that i have any professional say in the matter.
“Valentino sent that bag to me...” I MEAAAAN-
it’s winter in australia right now, so i think the blazer is more appropriate cause it’s not summer
omf its been bloody freezing lately...
That blazer would not cut it for winter where I live (NSW Tablelands). You'd freeze your arse off.
@@celinahatton2653 true probably meant more blazers just in general but you'd need a bit underneath
When she talked about her issues with jeans, I could relate so much, as I am also a tall girl, so if it fits at the waist its way too short, and if it’s the right length it’s way too big at the waist! And I’m sure that short people have the opposite problem. It’s like clothing brands thing that height and sizes works like dragging the corner of a picture in Microsoft word.
Luke could have just said the jenners and hadids while discussing how she come from a humble background xD
I was the one who left a million comments requesting this 🤠
i appreciate your service!

The climate in Australia varies dramatically depending on where you are and what season it is. I wouldn’t be surprised to see someone wearing Adut’s summer outfit in the warmer months, maybe not at peak summer heat though (40 degrees c).

I’m from Australia and it is hella casual. In Melbourne you see 50% of people walking around in black jeans/leggings and a Kathmandu jacket and in rural Queensland it’s shorts, tanks and plaid. At least in my experience.

Very nice style. She's in the top three of legit great personal style ... love it
As an Australian the summer climate can be incredibly varied from north Queensland being incredibly humid to the west being super dry but all over it gets pretty hot in summer, but where she is from Adelaide is more mild, the outfit is quite fashion forward for adeliade but she would definitely fit into Melbourne or Sydney. Also some of the big australian brands that encapsulate the fashion are dion lee, with jean, sir. the label and bec and bridge
that black dress at the end is everything 🔥🔥🔥
Finalllyyy!!!Adut is a queen periodddtttt 👑👑👑👑👑🔥🔥❤️
While I hate neon colours, she really works it. 👍 I like her confidence.

THIS IS WHAT WE NEEDED
Summer in Australia is different depending on what state you're in. In the north it's tropical and humid. In the southern states it tends to be a dry heat and is a little cooler (though temperatures of 35 C/ 95 F are typical). You probably wouldn't wear a blazer, but people often wear clothes that aren't weather appropriate for fashion (think jeans, leather boots etc.)
to answer your question about summer in australia, outfits kinda depend on where you are. australia is a huge place! some places are pretty what you would call normal temperature but other places are able to kill you purely with heat. i believe she lived in adelaide which i have not been to but im pretty sure that outfit would work there on a cooler summer day. the blazer does seem a bit think to wear everyday though. as for the rest of it, you see people dressed like that all the time here especially in summer. in hotter places like perth and sydney a lot of people dont bother wearing shirts. i think seeing anyone with a blazer is pretty uncommon except for in workplaces, we are a pretty laid back nation generally.
Great video!
Adut is such an inspiration for my (frustrated) dream of ever becoming a model, too bad there aren't any model agencies in my city:( I wish I could be one someday
you're beautiful i believe in you 😘
@@hayleyb467 thank you so much, beauty
YEAH same. Modelling companies in the area I live are fake....
The real ones are in Chicago, Miami, New York and L.A.

Im from Melbourne, Australia and the weather is so changeable, that we layer trenches over summer dresses because it might actually suddenly rain. I don't know where she is from, but Melbourne has a very distinct fashion scene, and I personally love it. Sydney has a much more marketplace look I've found, and it's tropical up north and arid in the middle, so people tend to dress accordingly. One thing we do wear is surfer looks all summer round, it's very beachy.
