      ...and how many of them all stars? Unfortunately, the genie is out of the bottle with NIL, transfer portal and one and done. Player empowerment is coming with its own set of consequences in that players aren't focusing on fundamentals, defense and development, just their athleticism and that's why fan interest is dwindling. The NBA product is suffering because of that as well

    • @gg70000
      @gg70000 Před měsícem

      @@UR_Right24 I think you are missing my point. The Big East programs will only find it harder and harder to compete with the power 4 or 3 schools in the future because they lack the kind of revenue that football delivers to those programs. The UConn athletic department, as successful as they are in both men's and women's D1 basketball, is in financial dire straits. Believe me, if Hurley senses that he will have a harder time competing with SEC, Big 10 and Big 12 programs because of smaller NIL resources, etc., he will eventually move. I don't think it will necessarily be about lining his own pockets. It will be about maintaining a competitive edge. Sadly, the Big East will eventually become a 2nd tier conference in basketball. Kids today could care less about the storied history of the Big East. They will gravitate to the programs with the most NIL resources and financial upsides. It's sad.

Static from donors aka superfans with money and unchecked privileges or the AD or both are my best guess. Why wouldn't you want to be coach of the Cowboys...? The big difference between New England and Kentucky is in NE we are a big fan of pro sports, what else does Kentucky have to watch? I guess horse racing. If your wife is from NJ and you want it stay married I would say no to Kentucky. I know it’s got some beautiful areas but there is definitely a massive cultural difference. If he stays in UConn he will make plenty of money and have access to lots of great recruits. The Northeast is all about basketball.

    • @gg70000
      @gg70000 Před měsícem

      I think you are correct for the most part as far as the roles that regional differences and family roots may play in keeping Hurley tethered to UConn in the short term. However, I believe Hurley will make a move eventually if UConn remains in the Big East. Conference realignment and resource allocation will be of paramount importance because the Big East schools will find it harder and harder to compete with the power 4 or 3 conference schools - however conference realignment shakes out in the future - without football money. If Hurley can't secure the resources necessary to stay competitive with SEC, Big 10, Big 12 and ACC programs, he will move in a heartbeat. I say this as a life-long New Englander and UConn basketball fan and, believe me, it pains me to say so.
