- For the first time in 25 years, ex-Chicago original drummer Danny Seraphine reunited with current Chicago lineup of the four original remaining members Robert Lamm (vocals/keyboards), Lee Loughnane (trumpet), James Pankow (trombone) and Walter Parazaider (saxophone) along with Jason Scheff (bass/vocals), Keith Howland (guitar) and Lou Pardini (keyboards). The reunion took place on the Rock Hall Barclay Center stage.
Chicago musical group performed their 1972 hit Saturday In The Park (Chicago V) followed by 1970 classic 25 or 6 to 4 from Chicago II (3:45) at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on April 8, 2016, broadcast on HBO.
Chicago was inducted 50 years after group formation in 1967. Original bassist/vocalist Peter Cetera (did not participate) and Terry Kath (postmortem) were also inducted. Bill Champlin was Chicago vocalist/keyboardist from 1981 to 2009 but was not inducted. - Hudba
Robert Lamm one of the most under rated singers/musicians of all time...He has aged well
David Pearl--Lamm looks great.
not only Robert Lamm but the entire Chicago Band is terribly underrated but it doesn't matter anymore 😉😉a super intense and creative and fantastic rockband in any case..
Saw them in Oct. They were fantastic! Robert still looks good!
He may be underrated as a solo artist, but Chicago is DEFINITELY NOT underrated. They've gotten their props over the years. You know who's really underrated??? Terry Kath....check out their 1970 Tanglewood concert some time and you'll see why
Danny is not only a high-level drummer but, His drum parts are written into the song arrangements. Stunning.
Killer music by a killer band. This is real music with real talent.
I've seen them at least 30 times. Always a great show!
A bunch of old men up there kicking some serious ass, putting today's generation to shame! This is how it's done kids!
The coolest old men ever!!
Not that hard to do. Today's "musicians" just don't compare. And not only to Chicago. I've scene a number of them preform Beatles tunes and I cringe at how bad it sounds. Thank god I haven't heard them butcher Chicago.
@@richardgreenleaf3259 I saw a local Beatles tribute band once, they were so bad that I felt embarrassed for them. And they were a tribute band, they weren't just some band trying to pull off a Beatles song, so that made it even worse.
@@magneto7930 You know, I was about to retract my statement for tribute bands, but I think I'll have to revise it. The retraction was because tribute bands are more D-listers in the music world and I was more thinking of the A-listers, the big names of today. But I should revise it to say some tribute bands aren't bad but I have heard the big names butchering the Beatles. More comment about some tribute bands not being bad was because you reminded me that I saw a Beatles tribute band a little over ten years ago and they weren't bad versus what your experince was. They weren't the Beatles, but they weren't butchering like I've seen A-listers do.
@@richardgreenleaf3259 oh yes, I agree. On the contrary, I've definitely seen some good ones out there. 1964 is a band that I've seen more than once and I thought they were great. The Fab Four is another great tribute band. I haven't had the pleasure of seeing them but their videos are all over CZcams and they do a great job.
This is what happens when a band is lead by the brass section.... Awesomeness!!!!
Truth...
Great to see Danny Seraphine perform with his Chicago buddies again.
I saw this epic band in the early 70’s. It was one of the best concerts ever. 3 solid hours of beautiful music.
One guy we also should not forget is the late great Laudir Oliveira whose tremendous percussion skills added so much to Chicago's songs. RIP to both him and the great Terry Kath.
Yes indeed.
Glad Danny got back with the boys
OMG, I waZ looking for a comment about Mr Seraphine!!! After the bad history regarding hiZ termination from the band, I didn't think he'd play with them again (it really messed up hiZ life for awhile...read hiZ Modern Drummer interview in July 2006 issue), but I'm thrilled that he did!!! 👍🥁🥁
How does Robert Lamm look and sound that good in his 70’s?
Wow, I had not seen this performance which included the original drummer (the best)! Keith is such a talented guitarist....and classy too, paying respect to the original solo and guitarist Terry Kath. And Jason.....amazing vocals. What a great band, and great performance.
That standing ovation at the end, you could tell the crowd didn't give it just because of all the years for which it had been earned. They really really liked what they just heard, affirming this band can still rock!
Absolutely!
How sweet seeing Danny play those drums.
Got that right. Just awesome. Feel bad for the guy but we all make our own beds , I guess.
This band's not Chicago without Danny on the kit.
@@coltranestephens9268 Nor Peter nor Terry
very
it was his band..he started it
listen to this live at tanglewood in 1970 when Terry Kath played in my oppinion one of the greatest solos ever.
Terry was so on fire that gig in 1970...band introduced by none other than Bill Graham! Amazin gig by any band...other is Talk Talk...1986...MontreuxJazzFestival...mind blowing and Mark Hollis' performance...for the ages...
There is no other Terry Kath, even Hendrix knew it. He always delivered that edgy rock Chicago we’ll never forget.
Chicago Transit Authority they will always be, love these guys, what a band.
They still kick ass and Robert Lamm just doesn't age.
Einer Schnudfuddy ...yes just as gorgeous as ever!
Right?
Botox and hair color are doing their job!
He's beautiful and a great singer! Love for Jason too 💜
Einer Schnudfuddy He doesn’t need to care what time it is.
Danny Seraphine is a fantastic drummer. Some of that earlier work with Chicago was absolutely off the chain
I even heard an interview with Buddy Rich and he said that he liked Danny's drumming. That's like getting praise from God for being great at your instrument.
I feel like they are a sports team rather than a band...one with amazing starters and an amazing bench.
I absolutely love "Chicago" pre-"Chicago-18". Peter Cetara was just the man that completed those guys. I still miss Terry Kath. What an awesome guitar player!! Gone way too soon!! Those guys were great!!!
He WAS the BEST. Even Jimi said he was better than him
Cetara wrecked the band, took them away from their rock roots and replaced them with soft ballads - hideous. The band was never the same without Terry and Danny.
are we forgetting Guitarists Donnie Dacus and Chris Pinnick?
@@Buckeye777 cry whatever you want, but Those Pop Stuff saved them to Obscurity!
Miss him terribly! Cetera took over and turned the band into a complete trainwreck!
5 years or 50 years, they rock with sheer excellence. Love Chicago and always will. Keep on Rockin dudes!!!❤
These songs are on my 'cruising' list when I'm doing some high speeds down the highway!!
Danny brings that Chicago feel right back to the band! Love this version of the song!
One of the greatest set of guitar rifts of all time...created by Terry Kath. 👍
Indeed it is!
I just saw this again and it reminds me how are you? I love this band since I first heard them in my freshman year of high school in 1971. I know I’m dating myself but in the 70s we had the best rock bands, and singers. And 25 or 6 to 4 yes songs. We use this with our precision drill team in high school on the football field at halftime and I can still remember the precision margin we did to this fast paced song. The stadium was full and the crowds loved it. I remember seeing my mom and dad on their feet dancing to the music. Thank you Chicago for all of the great music you’ve given us. I have seen you twice with earth, wind and fire. Great concert. I’m going to see you guys with earth, wind, and fire next August.❤❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎸🎸🎸🎸🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊
Lamm is soooo underrated
I was thrilled to see them inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Listen up, kids. This is music worth listening to.
William Herschel Chicago was my very first concert. The year was 1974 if I can remember 😉
TRC 123 wait, what?
William Herschel absolutely William Herscel
Robert Lamm and Terry Kath you can tell worked so hard together. Realizing Terry has gone. They had a groove that made Chicago always a very special band. Danny as well they practiced timing timing and more timing. They are my favorite of all time.
I miss quality music...a toned down lady gaga (touring as she looked in a star is born) would be good...she is a solid musician...but, note for note, you cant beat Chicago...geez how many bands today have the skill to pull off "fanfare for the common man" the way emmerson, lake and palmer could?
When I was little in the early 70's I heard an interview with Jimmy Pankow on what's the key to being a great musicians like the one in Chicago - " practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice and when you think you're done - practice, practice , practice, practice . . . ."
Richard Bona, musician/composer par excellence, said the same thing in an interview (found on Utube) about the major jazz musos like Metheny, Zawinul, etc...the key to their musical mastery...practice practice practice and then practice...
Love seeing Danny here! He is amazing. Love them all. But I’m a die hard Kath fan. I love Robert Lamm. His talent is off the wall! The horn section - ❤️❤️❤️
Kath was the man.
Just saw them in concert in Baltimore tonight, they were outstanding ❤
I first saw them in 1971 at Purdue. The Chicago Transit Authority! Great then and now!
I’m 73 years now and love the evolution of the music and the band!! 🥵
Ah the Chicago of my childhood, gone forever,,
Bad asses then bad asses now ! love love love , Lamm and the horn section and and whole band rocks ! ❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰
Celestial Soul--I have loved the horn section since high school. The singers sound exactly the same as they did in the 1970s.
Now this is quality music! So glad I got to grow up listening to this!
I was there that night - The place shook. It was unbelievable.
It was pretty awesome to see Danny Seraphine on drums with the guys again.
This group is comprised of not just rock stars, these men are true musicians and dedicated to their craft! For over 50 years they have given so much. It's about time that they were properly acknowledged by the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame! Bobby Lamm, please, never stop singing, writing and playing the piano/keyboards. I feel that you are somehow the structure of the band. You all sound amazing. All I can say is thank you for over 50 years of making incredible music. I hope that you know how many lives you have touched!
without question one of the most musically gifted bands of all time. listen up millennials this is what you call real music.R.I.P.Terry Kath.
Agree
I agree 100%
One pf the greatest bands of all time.Their rock and roll Hall of Fame induction was well overdue.Great performance.
So nice to see Danny playing with the band.
Yes indeed! He was such an significant part of the group for many years.
Those old songs don’t sound like Chicago without him.
Danny makes the band!
@@kevinblanchard9064 when he was invited he said he would if he could bring his guys. It's Chicago that was inducted, not Peter, so he didn't end up doing it.
@@kevinblanchard9064 pretty much just his ego, same reason he left the band
Unbelievable performance by one of the greatest bands of all time. Should have been inducted decades ago.
They sound their best when Seraphine is on the drums. No doubt about it.
Damn!! That's a super bunch of talent!...
Looking for Terry in those videos, omg he was the best!! Great to see Danny back if only for the night. He was truly appreciative. Rip Terry, we will never forget you!!
Terry Kath. RIP. ❤️
DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER, MY GOD.
I remember when this aired in 2016 im 28 now so a bit younger but I rewmbered hearing 25 or 6 to 4 all the time growing up in the south. I’ve literally never forgotten their performance. So amazing at their ages to still sing and play so good! Love it.
My all time favorite band 🍻
Very cool, I was born 40 miles south Chicago, so I grew up with them. Now I'm getting into them more bcz I was into heavy rock/metal and the hard stuff back then, but I love the CTA album the best. It's just a personal favorite of mine, I have good memories with it. Did you see Terry Kath's daughter's tribute video of him? It's so lovely.
@@ChicagoBeaver agree, but haven’t seen the tribute vid yet
Jesus! That audience ROAR and standing O at the end sent CHILLS
"all over my body" he-he. no pun intended.
How does Robert Lamm look and sound so good in his 70’s.
He feeds on the blood of the innocent
There is only one Terry Kath, but Chicago still sounds good.
RIP Terry Kath.
Was unfortunately
@@barbarawinsor8401 😢
Just saw them in concert at the Forum and they were great! POWERHOUSE! Such talent.
Still good ? I’m seeing them in July
@@pierce2652 Saw them last night in Houston. Still extremely talented! Brought back so many memories. Young and old need to experience Chicago.
@@pierce2652 Trust me, they don't sound that great anymore. I hope the tickets were cheap
Oh you mean the tribute band called Chicago? 🤣
@@pierce2652 Still Really Great. Just saw them in the fall.
That guitar solo at 6:30 with the horns behind it was amazing, well deserved award!
Not as good as Terry Kath...
@@CharlesEzakichi So? Terry's dead. They have an amazing guitarist, best since Kath...
Absolutely nothing like the correct guitar lead for that part. I guess if you're incapable of duplicating the master, you play some other stuff that's nothing like it...
Best music to grow up with
I was in high school when Chicago came out - and they were very popular in my school. I got their albums. It was quite a time. It was the first horn band that captured my attention.
What can you say - great band.
I was in high school during that time too! My brother had several rock bands that played at the school dances. They had a horn section and they did some Chicago songs! Great times!
Danny and Terry made this band so much better.
Danny still has it at 70... better than today’s young “artists” by a landslide. Jason Scheff filled in nicely for Peter as well.
Saturday in the park has a good sound that I like I listen to the music every night
These are such great musical arrangements not just jamming just a great big band of the modern age of their time and forever
Wow untill now I still heard this great music by Chicago. I heard this when i was 15 years old and now at 64 still heard this great song💝💝💝
So happy to see Danny playing with the guys!
Never tired of this tune.
Still missing Terry dearly till this day. Today's line-up is almost unrecognisable & so's their musical directions.
Top class musicians... the best of the best 👏
Love this! Keith Howland is a monster!!
Robert Lamb led the way with Chicago they are all amazing musicians that know how to blend as one
Dave, Robert's last name is slightly misspelled here; s/b "Lamm".
Happy 75th Birthday Robert Lamm
Prayers and Best wishes to co-founder and now former Saxophonist Walter Parazaider as he battles Alzheimer’s…..
This is awesome. These dudes still have it after all these years. I have been a fan from the Beginning. Thank GOd for this music . They make my life complete. Long live this music.
Robert Lamm a true leader and genius! Plus, I’m Italian and birthday.in the 4th of July!
About damn time Chicago!!!!!!
Love Chicago - Terry Kath, Robert Lamm, James Pankow, Peter Cetera and on and on...
Chicago: America's band 🇺🇲 And Terry Kath 🎸👑
Robert Lamm, one of the greatest musicians of all time...
Chicago one of the great bands of all time
Every time I hear the opening piano I get sad at what could have been of terry hadn’t died and Peter left
See the difference? Danny doesn't need a million toms and Cymbols to play. Danny will always be the backbone of Chicago.
Super well said Now, I love guys like Alex Van Halen with a full set, but it sure doesn't make you a better drummer. Look what a little known short ass drummer from Liverpool did with a small Ludwig 4 piece. He opened every fucking closed door there was.
I thought he was out of sync and terrible.
he was playing with tris imboden too, nice touch
@@beckes1 I've been playing for 36 years. The drummer might have been the original guy but he did sound a bit off (playing too many fills, not playing in the verses... it's not a jazz number, it's a rock number) but then again, Heart did when they played Crazy On You.
Drummers kicks ass
25 or 6 2 4 is one of my all time favorits. What a song..
Just saw them two nights ago with Jeff Coffey and they were fantastic! anyone being critical is just looking for something to fuss about! Best 2 hours spent in long time! IT WAS GREAT AND FUN AND HOUSE WAS ON THEIR FEET!!!
I saw them as well with Jeff and they dug deep into Chicago II...I loved the show but now he and Tris are gone...it's over now!
That is a huge dose of pure awesome on that stage...
Well deserved Hall of Fame!
Came for the Yes, Stayed for Chicago. Thanks!
These guys were having an absolute ball doing this show. What a great band!!!
all I can say is its about god dam time, one of the all time greatest band, RIP Terry Kath
This is music youngsters, never gets old!
One of the most highlighted performances of all hall fame years
think this the last time these guys played together in public
I seen this song done live 25 or 6to 4 classic
This was probably the best set of musicians in the band’s history.
Not even close
@@captainsmoothy2337 Terry Kath, need I say more!
Terry Kath and Peter Citera
June 28 2022 can’t wait THANK YOU JAKE! ❤️
Had a connection who knows some of the band through my husband... first row seats in Miami in 2001 and met them all backstage... was so nervous to meet them but they are just as approachable, friendly and sweet as they are amazingly talented. Best concert and memory ever! 🤩😍💕
Never get tired of these songs!
It's a privilege to see and hear great musicians play and really enjoying performing
Sound great Robert vocals are ☺☝️👌👍😁

Great . Everlasting music. Could only have happened to a group like this in a country like this.
Loved seing JASON singing live💖💖💖💖 i missed him.

Love this! Robert is still a cutie pie! Nice to see video of them back in the 70's. Priceless.
Yes they are!
Yes he is!!
Danny puts the groove back in.
50 years on--- feeling stronger everyday !!
It still pisses me off that ABBA got in the HOF before Chicago.
then it probably pisses you off more that the Sex Pistols got their before Chicago.
The R&R HOF is a BS organization anyway, for many reasons. How else do you think some of the act’s were inducted? Some of their selections are head scratching, especially when others are more deserved by simple longevity and production of great music. Hey, but that’s the way the world is when it’s run by douche bags. I don’t need any organization to tell me who is “Hall of Fame” worthy acts or not, or validate who I like or not, anyway. If I did I’d be listening to a lot more ABBA and Sex Pistols, rather than Chicago.
