I’m always the one giving advice I build r1s so it’s nice to get some back for a change
Looks so good when someone else is doing it ,even possible…
awesome video! Thanks for making
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
New to the channel love the video's grtz from the Netherlands
Thanks for watching! 🤟
Great video. Just curious; given that things were still in spec, did it 'need' a rebuild or did you do it being proactive? If it needed it; did you know because it was loosing power or what? Again, thanks for a nice video.
Thanks for the video! Bike looks great too. Where did you find those graphics? Hard to find any that don’t look like trash
Thanks! The bike actually came with them, I believe they were custom made!

Ayyee, Thanks for watching!
Garage look familiar??😆
Nice video👍🏼 did you ever changed something on this motor before? Or did it survive the 20000 miles without any motor problems
20,000 miles no motor work no motor problems! Just oil changes!
@@KGRowlo can you tell how much motor hours are that 20k miles?

is it necessary to remove rockers or they can stay when removing head ?
Hi buddy , quick question about top end rebuild , is really necessary remove the rocket valve or can be remove just the can and leave all head together with the rocket ?
Thanks
No you can keep all that in, I just removed because i was changing out the valve shims!
@@KGRowlo thanks !!
What counter sprocket and rear sprocket are you running? I’m running 14/45 for duel sport mostly dirt 4th to 5th is short,5th to 6th is pretty tall.I’m not sure what I can run my 17’ up to without overtaxing the motor,so on the highway I don’t push it past 60 or so.
I’m running the same sprocket sizes💪I’ve had my bike topped out at around 115mph and held it for hours at 70-80mph
@@KGRowlo right on Man good to know now I’m thinking 65-70 should be ok for the bike then.Mines got 30hrs and has had three 4 oil changes..got the bike with 24 hrs,guy I bought it from had it in a storage unit for three years.Had a clogged injector, figured that out after I went ahead and changed it,after I found the bike to have good fuel pressure, but still wouldn’t start, that was the fix, came with a vortex ecu! Anyway, good to know that the rebuild myth has been debunked in my head officially now and that I can ride the hell out of this thing without anxiety for a good long while.. thanks for this video man!
Hey man where did you get a rebuild kit? Or do you have to purchase the cylinder gaskets seperately oem sites?
i bought a vertex kit and bought the piston and head gasket kit separate!
What’s up bro great video, I just picked up a 2012 because I’m rebuilding my r1 motor, this thing smokes like a bitch and burns a half quart of oil every tank of gas. I’m gonna do a complete rebuild, was your bike down on power at all? I know I have the 6 speed tranny and I feel like the gears are extremely short I’ve tried various combos and nothing is making me happy with the 17inch sm wheels. Any advice ?
Not down on power at all, the 6 speeds on the ktm makes almost every gear feel the same except 6th! im runing 45 tooth sprocket on 17" sumos and i love the way they feel
Hi, how much did you spend on parts?
Like $3-$400
Nice! What year?
2017
About how long it take you to do everything? And about how much you end up paying for everything?
took me 2 days worked on it 2-3 hours a day, and it cost me like $350-$400
Thanks man appreciate the video you still have the bike ?
Yeah i still have the bike!
What special tools were needed?
Nothing special but your brain and a torque wrench@@jeremycallender7641
how many hours? engine never been opened?
600 hours, engine was never opened before this.
@@KGRowlo Wow, mine is about to hit 600 hours in 4 hours, engine also never opened and still pull strong, don't smoke or take much oil.
