    Finally, a video filmed by someone with some video skills! I am so tired of watching the narrator open and close every small cabinet door on the boat and focus for what seems like an eternity on the toilet seat.

    This is a fantastic boat. Ticks all the boxes for me. Good Looking. Sails like a rocket. Great saloon design. Sufficient living space. Real dedicated forward looking nav station. And finally, real helms positions that both provides vision and protection when needed.

    Nice 'fast' looking boat with good Engineering & easy maintenance/engine accessibility. However I really feel it brings into focus the debate on speed v comfort. Boat has very skinny hulls for a 52 footer, means wind speed boat probably and smooth ocean ride. However narrow hulls, narrow doorways, not even a semi walk around berth, probably only sleep 5 due to the size of port forward berth. As most will spend estimated 75%+ time on the hook v passage making, I want a bit more comfort, especially as I get older. Not sure if any manufacturer has got the balance right yet within a reasonable price point. Ultra comfortable boats like Lagoon & FP are a bit slow & for anything other than the odd passage IMHO. But then that's what lots of cruisers do - just the odd passage to a new cruising area, then just lots of short trips & anchoring, so I guess it depends what you need the boat for.

    It looks like a great boat, indeed. Nevertheless, in my humble opinion, and from what I can see from the video, the galley is exageratingly oversized, compared to the seatee, taking too much living space. But this is only my opinion.

    Definitely a boat that puts performance way above comfort. Some people prefer speed.... but a 51ft catamaran for circumnavigating around the world does not need speed, it requires chil- lax-ing. This is more suited for the filthy rich who just wants to bomb around the Caribbean for a few weeks then back to the office. There is a market for all . You will not see this vessel in some secluded Anchorage in Tahiti /New Zealand /Alaska..thats for sure.

    Daggerboards? Nope, not interested. Thats good for coastal cruising or in a lake, wouldn't want it for bluewater cruisin...

    • @heeeresjohnny7503
      @heeeresjohnny7503 Před 5 lety +2

      @David D Daggerboards are long planks or boards, attached on each side of the boat, that can be raised or lowered into the water, and their main purpose is to give the boat increased performance, especially when going upwind. The problem is that they are generally quite long, anywhere from 7 to 12 feet long. There are 2 problems with this. The first is that it could catch or run into ocean debris while sailing, and in worst case scenario, damage the boat and even sink it. For me the performance gain versus the safety level is not worth it. Sometimes, sailors forget that the boards have been lowered and run aground.

    • @heeeresjohnny7503
      @heeeresjohnny7503 Před 5 lety +4

      @Chrisamaran Of course, I mentioned the performance part. But that "gain" will only be around 20% of the time and it is rarely more than 1-3 knots, at least from what I've seen and heard. Whereas with mini-keels, other benefits include sitting on the ground when the tide goes out, and it acts as a "bumper", for the props and rudder when navigating shallow waters.

      @dharwood2727 Před 4 lety +4

      Take a closer look at the elevation view @ 10:44. the saildrives are well above the bottom of the hulls. There's your "bumper." Also, with the daggerboards and rudders fully retracted the boat has a minimum draft of 2'-1". No stubbed keel Cat is going to give you that kind of access over reefs or into atolls. Seawind's wind power chart indicates she'll efficiently sail 36 degrees off the wind. (with the daggerboards down) Those are monohull numbers.
      i vote yes on the daggerboards. Plus, just because their there doesn't mean you have to use them.
