    Simply incredible, the Range Rover arrived from Portugal absolutely immaculate, and they have managed to destroy a real classic in such a short time.
    Absolutely condemnable and regrettable.

      If the car could speak it'd tell you to 'shut it' . he's done a great job with this 4x4, all the issues he disliked have been catered for and it's now practical, stylish and i want one exactly like it. maybe in a different colour.

      If the car could talk, it would say "save me from these abnormalities".
      And if you think that it's a good job to destroy a true classic, I see what you know about classics.
      Here in Europe we call guys like you a real "ducks".
      Anyway ... pearls to pigs.

    There are tons of cheap Range Rovers for sale, including the V8 that you could have bought and change.
    Instead you piked up an imaculate example in a condition that its hard to find and destroyed it.

      That is why I started with a $1000 83 model needing a full restoration and a 98 Disco to do mine. Always amazes me when people do this t the beautiful rare cars instead of starting with a basket case! Our rare ones are being beautifully restored to original condition.

    I'm in the UK and there are plenty of companies that mod all Range Rover cars Kingsley, overfinch... Name but two. I like the seats and the dash pod looks great. I really don't understand taking the rear seats out. If you need space they fold via a truly massive handle on the back rest! I would keep it standard looking body wise. I don't think the shape has been bettered yet...

    Tbh, although I don't hate the interior, I don't think it was the right choice for this particular car. I would happily put a similar interior into my '94 Range Rover, simply because it's not a pristine classic, whereas yours was too nice. I think it's slightly ruined by the new interior, and certainly by the new wheels. personally, I would have either left it as it was or reupholstered the seats with leather in a similar colour to the original interior and kept the rostyle wheels, just polish them up a bit.

    Jesus, if its urs u can do with it what you want. Also the really good examples are not hard to find, they are just hard to pay. Its not like he shattered a one off chinese vase. Also where he lives he is (some may argue rightly-so) not allowed to drive a 30 year old Dragon breathing turbodiesel, I think he did a good job in only modernising the interior parts and leavin the outside as-is. Thats after all the main characteristic of this classic. I would not have done it by myself but im sure it was a fun challenge

    Put a 3.9 V8 in there or a Landrover TD5 or maybe a 4.6 V8 Ranger Rover unit.
    The engine was the Only thing that needed changing.
    That 2dr bodyshell is worth a lot of money in the UK. except for left hand drive. ( Lhd hits the value in Uk )
    Drive a Landrover Discovery TD5. Bmw designed 5 cyl 2,5 diesel. SUPERB Motor.!
    The VM italian marine engine was very No Go in its day in the UK. 200 tdi was much better.
    The best mod you can do is fit the 5 speed chain drive transmission from a later old style Rangey = much smoother manual gear changes and no transmission ' Clunk' as you change. ( that play was there when they were new ! it's how they were NOT age and wear. ) ( Diff Clunk )
    Suspension ? = Leave it as it is meant to be.
    Yes without the later anti roll bars the body rolls all over on bends but all 4 tyres are Glued to the ground it will not fall over unless you go WAY ! WAY far too fast on a bend. they handle much better than the air suspension cars in last yrs of production ( soft dash models )
    All the fun of a Rangey is the Roaring V8 3.9 efi. with a 5 speed manual try one of those !
    that just will put a BIG Smile on your face ! everytime you drive it !

    Okay, it looks great. Spare tires are good things to have, obviously you will call a wrecker. I doubt you will be laying on the road plugging and refilling your tire, just a guess; as skilled as the work is your people do, you could have made a way for a spare to fit. It does not have back doors so the seat moving to allow people into the back is ridiculous, so no back seat works in your application. the engine should stay the vehicle doesn't need more power it isn't safe enough to handle 400 + horsepower. I like the colors for the interior. Very good overall. though I personally would have left it alone except for the center console upgrade. Range rover always under engineered this aspect. The millions of them have the cubby area falling apart. great job. put a LS7 in a different range rover.

    It's illegal in the UK not to carry a spare tyre. I'm quite astonished that there isn't a similar law in the US. Besides, exactly what would you do if you had a flat in the middle of nowhere!

    • @Mike7O7O
      @Mike7O7O Před 6 lety

      ludocrat This cannot be true. Many cars only have reinflation kits, one of mine included. I live in UK ;)

    • @Ingens_Scherz
      @Ingens_Scherz Před 6 lety

      It seems I do actually need to check the law before I start pontificating about it. I just did check the law - not because I didn't believe you but because when I read your comment I strongly suspected that you must be right and that somehow I'd just made a total arse of myself - and, of course, a quick "Google" revealed that you are, of course, dead on and no one is required to carry a spare tyre in the UK. They've never been on the MOT list so maybe I should have taken that as a clue! Apparently, if you do carry a spare, then it has to be legal. I suppose that since once upon a time all cars came with a full sized one, it's possible a lot of us just assumed that it was a legal thing.
      I'm still a bit staggered though. Not so much because something I'd clung to (and misinformed many others with, including my own children) for decades turned out to be total nonsense, but because of the years and years of pointless anxiety I realise I've wasted on something I probably heard from a school chum when I was 16 and which has occasionally cost me quite a lot!
      I am grateful to you for putting me right and in such a nice way. I'm a bit embarrassed - and this is my humble apology :) I'm buying a reinflation kit first thing tomorrow and starting a new life!

    Absolutely loved what you did, especially the interior, loose that old VM Motori TDI (bag of hammers) and try maybe the new Cummins ISF 2.8 for a bit more punch and reliability. LS3 would be awesome of course but that's so overdone these days it would be refreshing to see something different for a change. Interested to see what you do with the suspension and brakes as well!
