I've cried to this song quite often. My mother still struggles with addiction, swings back and forth between sobriety and ridiculous, emotionally taxing binges for a few months. I appreciate Eminem for using his art as therapy, and as a means to communicate his feelings, so many of us know we're not alone because of it.

Yeah, you can definitely feel that in the song. And the power of forgiveness -- wow. Its an amazing song. So deep.
I think 'Cleaning Out My Closest' is one of his best songs - it's his story & it needed to be told. It was part of his journey to be generous enough to pen 'Headlights' for his mother, but also for himself.
Eminem was ironic when he said he guessed his father had trouble keeping up with every adress. Heard Eminem's mother had somewhat regular contact with his father. Never spoke to eminem though. And Eminem sent him letters that was always returned unopened. Later in life when Em had made it big, his father randomly appeared in TV interview, where he plrtrayed himself like a proud dad and brought baby pictures of Em. Next I'd suggest the song "Leaving Heaven" that Eminem made after his father's passing in 2019
This video brought me to tears it shows a lot of growth and maturity for Marsha to write this
I love that you are starting of with these really personal songs - they let you know who he is outside of the more "fun songs". If you search for "a little shady " on youtube, you will see his daughter as she is now. She has a podcast, and has had both of her sisters, and her uncle (Em's brother, Nathan) on the show😊

I was thinking, all these tough songs you've been going through you should have some fun ones. One that popped in my head right away was "My Dad's Gone Crazy" off his 3rd major release "The Eminem Show". Not only was it a fun song but he also featured his daughter Hailie and made her the youngest R&B chart entrant ever at only 6 years old and some change in the Guinness World Records.
The line where he is talking about owning a collection of maps and following his kids to the edge of the atlas, is him referring to an article his father had published in a news paper where he basically made the excuse that he didn't know where Debbi had moved to with him and how to get in touch with them.
If I'm not mistaken, this video was released on Mothers Day.

Nate Ruess is never ever recognized by anyone on this song, it's so funny 😅 He's the lead vocalist for a band named "Fun" that was quite famous for a short while some years back. Like a one hit wonder type of deal. Their most famous song was called "We are young". Everybody knows it, and his voice is really unmistakable. I always knew it was him. Lyrics go like this:

I understand how it is with life and relationships. Plenty of sorry, forgiveness, though also good things like hello and thank you. Just have to remember to keep doing our best despite the struggles or circumstances. Even if our best isn't ideal.

Eminem’s music really helped me get through my childhood. My father left when I was 2 so it was just me and my mother for years. Then she remarried and I got put on a back burner. This song resonates even more though because I was put in a psych ward on a Christmas Eve. And now at 35 years old, my mother and I have a very healthy relationship. We’re both in a better place and we can communicate beautifully. I really cherish the music Eminem was able to offer the world for people like me during that entire era.
He has more songs about his Mom other than " Cleaning out my Closet " .... Please get to his song that is aptly named " My Mom " .... It is done a little bit more in jest , and is almost comical .... But there's a lot of truth behind it , and a lot to do with him becoming a drug addict because of her ... Btw , I just started watching your reactions , and I already know that you have a Uniquely Beautiful Soul ❤️🌏🌄 .... have you ever seen the show Biorhythm? they have a pretty cool episode on Eminem. it aired in the 90s so this was very early in his career lol but it goes in about his childhood

Yes I think that Em getting off the drugs and going to counselling really helped him understand why his Mother did what she did. Headlights it’s one of My Fav Songs from Em. I can’t help but Cry listening to Headlights as I Lost My Mum and hearing Em say he forgives and and still Loves his Mum after everything she did to him is so Beautiful. I love your reactions so far, I binged all of them in a day lo, but I think we should take a detour from the sad stuff and give your heart a break lol. I'd also like to see somore more newer eminem reactions, I know some want you to do the old stuff first but since you were with someone who was an eminem fan you already know the sound. First on the list I recommend the SEQUEL to Stan. It's from new Eminem and was on the Marshal Mathers LP 2, it's still a bit of a heavy song but I think you should react to it while Stan is still fresh in your mind. Then something more motivating and upbeat like "Till I Collapse" or Survival
