    OMG my horrorstory 🤯
    Update on the Young Living allergy story: my mother-in-law is starting to question the power of oils because of health issues she has been having which the oils didn't help with at all. Surgery did the trick though. So give a rep enough time I guess

    The essential oil smell thing reminds me of how smokers don't notice they stink of cigarettes. I don't smoke, both my parents do. I live in a different country now so whenever they send me a package it smells like cigarettes and I'm like "yep, smells like home" lol. My mom was surprised how it still smells of cigarettes even though she kept it in a room where they don't smoke before sending it. They don't realize their entire home and clothes and everything smells like it because they're so used to it. I'm pretty sure I also smelled like cigarettes back when I lived there even though I've never had a single cigarette and I couldn't smell it on myself either.

      @desireemclaughlin1455 Před 5 měsíci +51

      Totally off topic, but this comment reminds me of a I had a boss who was meeting a guy she’d been talking to on a dating app. She’s a smoker but she said on her profile that she wasn’t. I should mention he was in Texas and we were in Alaska, and he was flying all the way to AK to meet this woman. So she goes and picks him up, and of course she smells like cigarettes. He ended up staying the weekend but told her that if he’d known she smoked he wouldn’t have even gotten on the flight. She was stunned because she used air fresheners and smoked with her car window down and thought he’d never notice. 🤦🏼‍♀️

    • @lizzybeary
      @lizzybeary Před 5 měsíci +38

      Not only is it olfactory fatigue, but smoking destroys the olfactory nerves and taste buds so it's a cumulative effect.

      @Akira_of_the_Fae Před 5 měsíci +26

      It seeps into every corner of the house, into the fabric and the walls themselves. Thats why resellers have to specify if its from a non smoking home, because it can reek forever

    • @hannahcave4403
      @hannahcave4403 Před 5 měsíci +15

      The smell permeates a home and can move in the air ducts. They would need to tape up the vents and put an air purifier in there and it would probably still smell of cigarettes.

    • @BewareTheLilyOfTheValley
      @BewareTheLilyOfTheValley Před 5 měsíci +21

      @@hannahcave4403 Yep. My brother and I roomed together for five years. My bedroom was above the kitchen, so when he smoked, it still entered my room. I often had to close my room vent to help lessen (but never fully eliminate) the smell.
      Smokers always think that spraying and whatnot eliminates it, and it just doesn't. It stinks and clings to everything and I hate it so much. It was a large part in why I finally had enough and needed my own space. I unfortunately need to share my car right now with my mom, who is also a smoker, but I work from home most days so I'm not in the vehicle as much. I'm waiting until she gets her own before I go to town with cleaning my car. But I still step out of it smelling like her smoke (both cigarettes and weed) 😣

    After the Mary Kay run in, I was asked by an Arbonne hun if I would like to WORK with her. I made a post about how difficult it was finding a job/getting one bc of said reasons. She sent me a voice message saying she found my post and felt like she had to reach out and that I could easily do it. The disabled community are highly sought out.
    Usually, the hun would do one of these two things. They would target the person who has a disability or go to a parent (typically a mother) who has a disabled child and try to get them to do the marketing based off their child needs etc.
    One of the most common medical diagnosis I have seen targeted myself are people with ADHD or Autism. Especially if it's an oil based MLM. I watch many Anti-MLM channels that talks about this. The huns behavior absolutely disgusts me. They have no knowledge of said issues or seem to genuinely care.

      My local Facebook groups are seeing a LOT of posts from huns looking to "hire" people to help them answer e-mails or return phone calls and such. They target stay at home moms and disabled people specifically, and if you respond they try to talk you into joining their company. If you ask if they are MLM / Network Marketing / etc., they block you.

      I don't think the company is around anymore because I looked a few months ago and can't find them anywhere, except for people illegally selling their jewelry on websites like Ebay, but I have Spina Bifida and a "friend's" (we no longer speak) mother almost roped me into Premier Jewelry! I had my party in the corner of a Panera and literally NOBODY came! I was pissed then, but I'm so grateful now because let's say because of my disability people pitied me and always bought stuff so I was actually able to afford an apartment of my own. Once that MLM went under I would've ended up right back in a situation where I was living with (abusive) family. It would've hurt more to actually escape and end up back where I started than to not really know what I'm missing!

We tried quite a few products, but ultimately only liked the laundry detergent and a few body products. I was disappointed and cancelled our membership because I couldn’t spend $80+ monthly just on laundry detergent. It would create a stockpile quickly. Canceling was easy though. Print a page, sign and date, take a screenshot and email to customer care. They responded quickly and our membership was cancelled with no more charges. Occasionally I get an email from them inviting us back, but I just delete it. If the monthly purchase wasn’t a requirement, we would still purchase things here and there

    Pregnancy has the common effect of having lower overall immunity. A lot is taken by the baby, even if you use supplements. Because of this, a lot of women become allergic to a lot of things during that period, sometimes even reacting on/off to some things. For example, my sister became allergic to gluten, sugar, milk and tbh everything inbetween. It's because it's an autoimmune allergic reaction, not a specific allergy.

    Organic compounds are significantly more likely to cause allergic reactions than inorganic compounds. The idea that someone can't understand how someone could have an allergic reaction to a "natural" compound is baffling to me.

    • @demo2823
      @demo2823 Před 5 měsíci

      Plastic is organic but not natural. Rock is inorganic but natural. I don't think natural is divided into organic and inorganic. It's more organic in the grocery store sense- non genetically modified simple whole heirloom ingredients, and then the opposite is lab made, factory produced or genetically modified, depending on the item. But of course, even that kind of organic is not by default 'good.' Snake venom is organic natural.

    Oh my gosh, I've been diffusing Young Living lavender oil, as I watch. It's years and years old. I found it in the depths of my decluttering stash. A lady I met years ago talked me into joining YL, but I wasn't into it! Recently, my apartment has started to smell like something has died. Turns out, my HVAC system is the stinky culprit.
    So, in the meantime, I've decided to bust out my unused diffuser and old YL lavender essential oil to try and help with the smell. Now, everything just smells like a lavender dead animal, and my chest and eyes are burning. So glad I watched this, because I'm sure the oils are making me feel badly. Love your content, Hannah! Essential oils are EXTREMELY prone to cause allergic reactions. It’s almost common knowledge that they are highly likely to be irritated for skin.
    Just because it’s natural, does not mean it’s healthy for your skin.
    I don’t blame the mother, I don’t think the doctor had to say stuff like that to her, rather educate her as doctors are supposed to.

Thankfully I switched and was able to recover from the hives eventually, but it was absolutely the birth that changed things. The same clothes I wore pre-birth caused awful hives wherever they touched. It took some time to find a detergent that didn’t make it happen, but finally did. All this to say, I completely validate first hand that birth can change your body in crazy weird ways!

    The way MLMers hide behind terms like “affiliate marketing” is infuriating. Just this morning, I saw a post from a SAHM mom in my mil spouse group ask for ideas to make some supplemental income. One woman commented that she was in “affiliate marketing” and said to DM her. I looked at her page and she’s a Nuskin rep. I called it out. Later, I saw yet another Nuskin rep on the same post saying she had a “remote job that paid very well.” My blood boiled. I have seen way too many mil spouses preyed on by MLMs.
