    Wow! Hit on another good topic. The social and emotional isolation of hearing loss is huge and a topic that isn't addressed as much as it should be. Thank you for excellent video.
    Antidotally speaking, I'll admit I'm a "high-functioning introvert". :-) As I (and more importantly my family and I) have accepted my hearing loss; we've identified some of the things you touched on today. For example, there were many summer nights when we'd have neighborhood gatherings that I'd leave when it got dark. I'd always make an excuse - watch the kids, had to work, etc. The issue came down to the fact I couldn't hear well even with hearing aids and reading lips in the dark is taxing not that I was being as many though shy or anti-social which was the neighbors expectation.

    Can you explain in another video what the difference between fitting ranges are for some hearing aids?

    It’s a good point I that I did not know about.
    But Phonak is way too expensive in my country.

    I have widex evoke 330 hearing aids. They work well. However I have great difficulty sometimes with people wearing masks.i can read lips but they are covered with a mask. I'll bet I am not the only one. What can I do to help myself understand better in some of these tough situations, like going to the pharmacy?

      You can increased compression to boost soft-level speech or use a remote microphone.

    I’ve heard several people mention the link between hearing loss and falling. I’m curious, do researchers think the main factor is environmental awareness or does hearing loss impact the vestibular system too? I know SNHL impacts the cochlea and/or VII cranial nerve, but does it ever also impact the vestibular system and cause balance issues? Just curious :) thank you

    • @DrCliffAuD
      @DrCliffAuD  Před 3 lety

      Not unless the SNHL is also a symptom of a specific condition.

    Hi, just a quick question, can sleeping on one side always,
    Mess up hearing... I also used hearing aids, and my best side has become my worst and my worst ear has improved, we moved to another house, and I sleep toward the window in my right side.. before, I usually slept on my left side..
    Let me know if u came across something like that, thanks..,

      Sleeping on a particular side will not make your hearing worse or better.

    How does hearing loss in the Deaf Community relate to Dementia, this would mean that Deaf people have a higher incidence of Dementia, which doesn’t seem to be true, what research is being done in the Deaf Community, meaning people who use ASL or Auslan, I live in Australia

    My suggestion to presenter is to slow down his speaking just a little bit. He talks too fast for those with hearing loss to grasp it all. What he is saying IS important but too fast to catch it all.
