- A day after severe storms, Woodville neighbors are still out of power and struggling to recover from debris damage. Kenya Cardonne checks in with them to see how they're making ends meet.
These are my neighbors, three miles from my house. That’s my grocery store. When I saw my tall, thin pine trees in my front yard blow almost sideways, I ran for the bathroom. We didn’t get much damage but were without power for several days. Praying for those that sustained damage.
My sister lives near the Capital City Country Club. All of the trees in her neighborhood are down. Every tree at her home was uprooted and a power pole fell on her driveway. Among her neighbors is an elderly couple in wheelchairs who had a tree fell on their house, knocking down their living room ceiling and trapping the couple inside. Emergency vehicles could not get into the neighborhood for several hours because the streets were blocked by fallen trees. My sister has no power and was told it could be up to a week before it is restored.
Yes, it looks like a terrible mess. I can't imagine how hard it is to live there with all that damage and with no power. That one man couldn't even get a tarp, but he needs to ask his friends to come and help him. But roofs are unsafe and unstable, so you have to be careful. Any kind of tarps would be better than none.
@@yellowbird5411. Most of those homes that were damaged do have tarps on them now. Woodville is slowly getting back to business. This is a few miles from me, so I see the progress each day. We did not even get a tornado watch. At about 6:49 that morning, we got a tornado warning, stating “there is a tornado on the ground”! It came out of nowhere.
@@gulfbaby230 Not getting a warning - no one can protect against that!
They'll be there from dusk till dawn? I think she meant dawn till dusk.
