Yet another video thats a good reminder for people to NOT buy digital only consoles. You cannot trust these corps to allow access to things forever.
Thankfully xbox has a plan to keep games in their ecosystem, you can play the most popular xbox and 360 games on the series X, something Nintendo and Sony dosen't seem to care.
Or just switch to PC so consoles stop existing and everything is ported to PC.

You don’t actually own it forever. You’re just own a license to use it. In theory, the game publishers can take away that license anytime they want to. If you’re account was to get banned, there goes all your digital games. You have to start a new profile and buy them all over again. Plus, digital games are susceptible to store closures as we’ve seen in the last 5 years. While you may keep the games you bought, there will still be thousands of games you’ll never get to play.
In the email Microsoft said that you can still download your games.
And people complained about piracy 🤷♂️

The end of an era, folks. Even though this is undoubtedly disappointing, you can't deny, an 18-year run with the Xbox 360 marketplace is very impressive! It's great that they kept it around for as long as they did and hopefully this fires up people to really take advantage of it and get whatever else (if anything) they'd like to buy on there before it's gone for good!

I would be really, like 100 percent impressed, if they kept it up forever. Like how I can keep all of my physical games forever. So therefore, I am not impressed lol.

The end of Xbox 360's store is the only one that I feel truly at peace with.
The console and its Marketplace are nearly 20 years old now and not only do we have an entire year to make peace with things and buy everything we want to, but we'll also still be able to buy the Backwards Compatible 360 software on Xbox One and load it on the 360 after the shutdown.
To me, the 360 has always been and will always be the GOAT.
Also, almost everything that's on the Marketplace is already preserved and can be put on an Xbox 360 with a JTAG.

Xbox, thanks for 19 years of service (when July 2024 hits). It was awesome scrolling through the demos, playing indies and arcade games and raging at the more mature games as a kid. Oh will the store be missed :(

Interesting fact too about the Xbox 360 for those who may not know: The internal clock/calendar on the console also only goes up to the year 2025 apparently which is only two more years from now since the Xbox 360 won't go past 2025 for some reason, and that's also going to be the same exact year when Microsoft will be ending support for Windows 10 as well.
Is that because the programmers at the time thought the 360 would only be relevant or used by people up to that year?

Microsoft should have probably released a system update or something though for the Xbox 360 that would allow the internal calendar and clock system to go even past the year 2025, especially considering that 2025 is only two more years from now already which will come up pretty quick since it'll be here before we all know it. There may even be some people with Xbox 360 consoles that will still be playing even beyond the year 2025 and I still have a working Xbox 360 myself so far too.

It would have been nice if Microsoft would have released a system update though or something for the Xbox 360 that could let the internal clock/calendar extend even past the year 2025 since there may still be some people still playing on their Xbox 360 consoles even after 2025.

The Xbox 360 and the PS3 (and every console before that) are the last consoles I actually enjoyed and miss as I always played with my brothers and cousins on these consoles and now we all just kinda moved on and don't play together at all 😢
That is sad to hear. Wish they kept the store alive for longer. There are lots of people who still play Xbox 360 and still enjoy the games
Watching this on August 17th 2023, This Console and store were my childhood, I was 10 years old when I started playing xbox 2014 and now I'm 19 years old, I remember getting on and getting so many party invites from my friends excitedly ready to play Minecraft or COD. I remember buying BO2 on the store when I was 11 and hearing the adults cuss me out with my friends, don't be sad that it's ended my friends be happy we got to experience it, kids these days WILL never experience what we had to hear, the friends we Made, the friends that were States or country's away, they will never know how it felt to get a 4 peice or will never know the true feeling of gaming.... RIP Xbox store and 360.

August 17th 2023. I remember looking at all the games on the marketplace when I was younger being jealous because I couldn’t afford all of them so I mainly played demos and indie games because they were so cheap. The sound of the bing browser when you search something is so nostalgic to me because I used to hear it all the time back then. The Xbox 360 marketplace era will never be forgotten and will always be a massive part of my (our) childhoods .
Agreed on making games cheaper. The prices are largely ridiculous. One thing I'd really like to see is like-for-like price comparisons on the 360 vs Xbox One/Series on all back compat games. Someone needs to shine a light on the large discrepancy.
Outside of sales, I’m almost positive whatever the price is on 360 is what the price is on XB1/Series X.
@@MSUHitman Interesting. Since I don't currently own an XOne/Series I have no way of verifying. So old COD games still go for $30 on the current digital marketplace when one can get them used for under $5?
@@UToobin75Exactly, this is why buying physical is almost always a better deal. Digital prices just don’t go down, no matter how old a game gets. This is one reason I think people that buy digital-only console are clowns.

It was a great run. I remember going to the Xbox 360 Marketplace for the first time around 2013-2014 when I got another Xbox 360 console at my grandma and grandpa's house and scrolling through all of the games and everything. I remember downloading a bunch of demos from the marketplace and downloading free avatar items, gamerpics, and the stuff.
I even bought a lot of games, DLC, and avatar items from the marketplace as well.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end eventually.
Thanks for reminding me to "download" the leftover demos available on Xbox 360.

The modding scene on the 360 is pretty huge and has been for awhile, but as soon as this happens next year I can see a whole new surge of people getting into it just like when the 3ds shop closed.
3:57 - Yeah, FIFA 19 was indeed on the 360, but 17 was the last one before the 360/PS3 versions became "legacy editions" - basically, it's just the same game as the previous year with a roster update. (And career mode, for example, hasn't changed since 15 on 360)

I remember when the first Xbox came out I was really envious of some of the games they had. Even more once Xbox Live came around. Of course
I had a ps2 and I only knew of one friend that had one. I ended getting a 360 years later and when I finally got live god I would spend all night on that thing. Playing halo. GTA probably the most and man that was such a great time.!! Had a blast during that timeframe.
The 360 was awesome and to the this day Xbox will always be my main console no matter what.
this really shows how successful the 360 really was. the original xbox's servers were shut down in 2010 only 9 years after its release while the 360 is still going 17 years later. not for much longer but its still cool

I remember the Skate 2 demo was a big deal. My friend told me that there was a way to get out of bounds of the demo area. We youtubed it, tried it, and it actually worked. Your demo was limited to 1 hr, but we thought we were so cool for being able to explore the whole map.
I really hope they don't go through with this. Hopefully they'll get enough backlash or something to stop them.
Summer of 2012 I pre-ordered need for speed most wanted and black ops 2. I came in the store every week and paid $10 to GameStop until I paid off my games. I didn’t get my 360 until Black Friday. So many good memories. I remember the days of saving up all my money right before the new map packs came out as well. Those were simpler times.
Jacob, here's a few ideas for things you could try which would be easy to do and might resolve a few of the problems, you've encountered. These could also prove useful experiments too. With a couple of the different model types you purchased recently you could wipe and factory reset the consoles and then set them up again as if you are a new purchaser. With a brand new 'test' account for each console you could try the things as if for the first time again. By doing this you will have a 'virgin' experience and might be able to achieve some of the things you currently cannot do. I mention this because on a few of the screens you visited delete game came up; meaning you may already have the game installed, or maybe have data for it under that user profile. It MIGHT allow you to download some of the demos and get some of the other things working on a machine (and account) which DOESN'T have any data or any possible leftovers - or things which might be stopping you from doing some of the things you are trying in this video, etc?
It's just a thought, but it would be like completely clearing out the store cache which COULD be the issue with some of the downloaded items - and it might even refresh the order of games available etc. An alternative could also be to try sorting the available items by cost (or whatever) instead of by popularity or whichever it is at present. (Release date maybe? I'd assume that some of the issues faced are because there's no update data - or because of the 'back data' registered on the console(s)/accounts you've tried with). You can always reset and remove the accounts and restore the consoles again at a later date. You may also find different results with different console versions (or system updates) Perhaps some things simply won't work with the particular revision(s) you have been using?
Sorry the comment is a bit long, it's just a thought or two which might/might not work.

@kasrakh86 I was able to maintain it by only play it 2 hours a day (I was still hooked to my ps2) and I had it in a very open part of my tv set at the time and told my step-dad to remove the metal grading behind the fans for better airflow

I remember me and my brothers getting an Xbox 360 christmas 2011. My first game on it was some SpongeBob Kinect game, and I really enjoyed it. My older brother got Skyrim on it and I would just watch him play it all the time.
And I remember just scrolling through that avatar shop looking at all the unique animations. Insane to think I was only 10 or 11 at the time.
They still have avatars on Xbox series s/x but they even have “original Xbox avatars” where you can customize your 360 avatar
L.A Noire was such a great game. Highly recommend playing it on PC. Sadly the two developers that made it didn't get along, and will probably never see a 2nd one.

Hearing you talk about playing fallout 3 for the first time reminds me of when I did. My friends xbox 360 was dropped and only displayed black and white so the first time I played fallout 3 it was in black in white. Really made the game seem so much different
It’s not too bad. Most people already bought the games that they wanted from 2 generations ago and you can still play all the backwards compatible ones on Xbox one or series x. Be kind of weird if people are still buying stuff on a console that stopped producing games 10 years ago especially when you can still go out and buy the disc

The end of truly one of the the golden ages of gaming, I remember playing Blitz 2 with my dad on countless nights, losing to my mom on guitar hero, with a controller, and playing Minecraft and terraria with the boys and cod zombies with my dad, the countless nights I had nightmares from zombies. No other gaming system will ever compare to the mornings before school and the late nights we gamers stayed up playing our 360. The call of duty mtn dew mlg moments on modern warfare 2, the stampylongnose Minecraft tutorial world, beating ocram in terraria. The greatest memories I have in my life are from this legendary console. Thank you dad, and thank you Microsoft, for the greatest childhood I could’ve ever had.

The two things that I’ll miss the most are the Avatars & Gamerpics. I remember being blown away as a kid when I first got my Xbox seeing these two. We had avatars on the PS3 but it was nowhere near as cool as it was on Xbox. Gamer pics are definitely nostalgic too. It just won’t be the same

After the store goes down you will not be able to buy anything. However you will be able to download all of your digital content still like games and DLC and avatar content. Movies however will not be downloadable on 360. However the movies you bought on the Xbox 360 will be available on your Microsoft account purchase page.
Watching this on August 17th 2023. I remember playing Forza Motorsport and Horizon 1&2 on it when I was a kid and it is the best console ever! Makes me sad that Microsoft is sunsetting the 360. 😢

The 360 version of Red Dead Redemption looks phenomenal on the XBOX One X. It was one of those XBOX One X Enhanced games and it still looks great on that system. So it's funny it's just now on the PS4 and Switch.
Is there any reason why you do not use Ethernet cables for these videos? Some of the earlier PS3 models and Xbox 360 models do not feature built in WiFi. For example in this video you're using the Xbox WiFi adapter. Having Ethernet would eliminate this. Thanks for the content!

Even though its a year away, its so sad to see that its coming to an end. Im glad i started playing my old 360 a week ago, currently playing througn GTA 5, never really finished that game due to school and stuff. Hoping to play some CoD Bo1 too, i want to try high rounding in zombies!

@@JokerX350 The reason they had wanted to shut down the ps3/Vita stores was because of the old payment system in place. I think the cost of up keeping legacy platforms that accept credit cards is costly.
I really like the way it's set up now where you top off your wallet from the ps app or Ps4/Ps5 console and then go and make your purchases through the ps3 console. Much better than not having it online.
I wonder if there was a different reason why Microsoft decided to sunset the store.

Not that anybody asked, but I still have ALL of the games I ever purchased from Stream, despite multiple Windows reinstallations. And, yes, some titles were also on the 360. The hardest part is the difficulty in backing up saves, especially games that are poorly documented.
I recently had a 360 and once you start downloading anything the UI gets really buggy. Wifi speeds are terrible too.

Nostalgia is hitting really hard for you guys, copping with your last childhood is going to be ruff. Granted I have every 360 game i owned on my series x so i have zero use for a 360 but i understand that to many especially the generation under mine the end to the 360 is the literal end to there child memories even though that is not truly the case. I have similar Nostalgia for supper Nintendo, play station, and 64 so i get it lol.
My best memory is when 3 of my 360's bricked , one after another. Also , fighting with Game Crazy for them to replace one of them.
Im pretty sure if you buy 360 games on an Xbox One/Series X they'd be downloadable on the 360. I bought an Indiana Jones game on my 360 and it copied over to the Series X.
I got a notification from the Xbox app talking about it, and I hate how Microsoft are shutting down all the servers. Playstation decided to keep the PS3 servers up because they know people still use the servers.
Trials on the 360 was and will always be, an iconic gaming experience on the console.

I have so many questions about the xbox 360 store closing. Once it closes, can you re-download purchases from your xbox 360? Can you buy the xbox 360 arcade games from the xbox one/series x store? What games can you buy that you can’t buy on the xbox one/series x store?

Unfortunately this was coming since the shift is towards having less physical and more digital, which means less power and ownership for everyone. It hit me when I found out my TV has Xbox inside of it (App).

@@wolfman210 I mean physical as, eventually physical will be a thing of the past and digital will be the new physical. I get what you mean about print runs. But overall I say digital not just for games, but everything we know in general, movies, EV’s and payment systems like credit / debit will be digital (some places/ platforms already).

Yes the amount of time the game is printed is shorter, but the games stick around afterward. Hard drive space is limited, meaning that there games you’ll just have to accept with never playing again. Meanwhile most people could theoretically fit the entire Xbox collection in their home.
Just look at the after market for any other game console. I can still find and purchase ps2 games. Yes some is more rare than others. But with so much of the Xbox library being digital only, a lot of games will never be obtainable at all.
You do have an avatar on Xbox series consoles. Because I change my 360 avatar alot it's called an app called Xbox 360 avatar editor

Back in feb when they took away a handful of 360 games from marketplace, they were probably dipping their toes in the water to see how the community would backlash. Since there wasn't any uproar, now it's full steam ahead.

Wow, they’re actually gonna shut it down. I’m surprised it lasted this long. I haven’t played my Xbox in such a long time but it is really sad to see it go since my childhood memories will always have Xbox 360. I could go back and play my Xbox again, but I don’t need to since I already lived it. Besides the way today’s video games are today, it just won’t be the same as it was when I had it in childhood.

I played a lot of demos Scott Pilgrim, some guitar hero ones, do recall escape to Africa from Madagascar lol

Man, i remember loading up halo 3 and 4 for the first time.
Scrolling through the demos, loading up gears of war 2-3. That was great. 360 shouldn't be shutdown, it held a generation for 20 years.
Another thing i remember was playing my first multiplayer match in halo 4 with my dad. It was double teams or something, and we got our asses kicked. We were not good at shooters during that time. Far from it.
It was still fun. The 360 will be missed. It held half of my childhood. But as the saying goes "All good things must come to a end"

just kinda crazy how we are watching the best things that could happen turn into ruins, we all look at this stuff in such glory, and its just all in shambles. its like walking to your childhood home torn down irreparable
I don’t think they should shut down the store since there are still games that you can’t buy digitally on back compat due to regional problems also you can’t even get the physical versions of some of them either. At least not without paying an absorbent price.
Quick question, is it the store in the console or along with the website and newer consoles
Wow ,this was my brother main console and I was on the tail end of the 360, I love the 360 and gonna buy some stuff before it's gone , mainly sega titles and other stuff like dlcs and stuff , mabye stuff will go on sale but Thanks 360
its a very good thing we got the internet, tho we need to find a way to downloadf roms from pc and know how to download it onto a xbox 360 without it being jtaged

You saying how all of those digital purchases we made are going to be gone for good after the shutdown is EXACTLY why I still get physical copies of all of my games. Because if the network decides to shut things down all of your games are no more. Wasted money.
