Andy Scott is a legend!
Metal Sweet !
Great performance! I'm comming back to The Sweet after 30 years. Listening to this is thrilling.
Same here!
Love it! No complaints here. If it sounds great, it’s ok to say so. Thank you Andy Scott for continuing the spirit, the heart, and signature musical entertainment of Sweet going here.
This is brilliant. The way those backing vocals are all blending together is the best I've ever heard. Coke can routine is awesome as was that drum solo.
Flipping eck!
Respect boys!
A proper band performance with no frills, Brilliant!
Andy Scott!
Heavy Metal Sweet! VIVA Andy Scott !
Right 👍🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥
The best incarnation of Andy Scott´s Sweet!!!!
Brian Connely Best vocal Ever.....R.I.P.
This is Mal McNulty.
@@HeavyMetalNerd He also replaced Noddy Holder on Slade
Yes... Brian is deeply missed.
Never seen this before, awesome performance of this classic song.
Wow ....... absolutely fantastic ☆☆☆☆☆☆!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Sweet.... nice Greetings from Berlin to you from Retrobulle
I am a purist.
I love the original lineup. I respect the progression of the band, but for me, the magic is in that original lineup, always.
LOVE the sound, LOVE the ALL OVER THE STAGE "drum solo" !! been a fan since the early 70's and we just can't have that except the recordings & some videos, AND AS FAR AS i CAN SEE & HEAR, this is one helluva performance! \m/ \m/ Long Live SWEET (even IF it's just one original member!)
This era of Sweet was not my older sister's version. This was the borderline heavy metal Sweet that I really liked. I cannot dispute so many of you here that "this isn't Sweet" or "no Brian, no Mick, no Steve, no Sweet" attitude, but at this point, Brian was no longer able to perform coherently, Steve had moved to the U.S., and Mick had recently left. Andy was smart for turning to a hard rock sound for the band, as the musical climate had blown the lighter rock sound Sweet had been known for out of favor with the general public. McNulty had been playing with the band for some time, had the hard rock vocal chops, and he was a huge step over Adam Ant/Peter Gabriel lovechild Paul Mario Day. This sure wasn't "classic" Sweet, but it was Sweet who changed with the times. Peace, John
Very well put!!!
@@metalmanchild1454 much appreciated, Scott. About every week or so I still watch the classic lineup doing Fox, Hellraiser, and the other big hits, but these videos rock so damn much 🤘
You obviously haven't heard Sweet live in the 70s then. They were quite Hard Rock.
@@alfredoperri6158 no I didn't, it was poor planning on my parents part. If they had gotten a little busier about 5 or 6 years sooner I might have had the opportunity LOL
@@johnhutchison9782 The album this was from, "Sweet F.A.", was basically early metal.
F******g excellent !! Equal to the best of Deep Purple. What a song and what a tight band. Andy is very impressive with that guitar. A real pleasure )))
Just popped up this.
F***ing good job lads. 👍
Heavy metal pioneers!!! 🤟🤟🤟 set me free song Pioneer of speed metal subgenre.!!
KICK ASS tune from Sweet. ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!
I realize this is not the original Sweet I grew up with but it's the true spirit of Sweet and a terrific tribute to my hero's that brought this kind of take no prisoners to the scene with Desolation Boulevard. I think the former and deceased members would approve.
WOW, this is actually pretty good ..........
Great Performance !
a pleasure tohearthis version. Andy Scott played in sweet doing this song in 1973 alongwithsreve preistmick Tucker and Brian connelly
Wish Mick was still behind the drums in this lineup. Love the 'A" album.
This is incredibly good
Immer wieder Hammerhart! Der Sänger hätte bleiben sollen!
Awesome version!
Out of all the off shoots using the name, this sounds best. The guitarist's high harmony really made the Sweet sound. I miss the phase shifter on guitar solo.
GREAT SONG !!!
Increíble, es una canción too old and The sound is fresh and very new
Does anybody else feel like Andy is doing his best "Nigel Tufnell impersonates Andy Scott" impersonation here?
Regardless, I love this version of the song!
Mal McNulty !!!!!!!!!fucking awesome
Really like thís version!
Great Scott.
Bonham and Tucker are my favorite drummers
beyond Brilliant ...
That guitar/synthesizer harmony is pre Iron Maiden in style.
Helloween

GREAT
Incredible….
Great cover.
This song could be a great Deep Purple/Rainbow tune for sure!!
Saxon didn't do a bad cover, but the original is hard to top.
Eli Orozco it is;) listen to flight of the rat by deep purple ;)
Saxon's version was the first I heard and thought it was their original. I friggin' love theirs the best! But, I suppose it depends on which version you heard 1st as to which you might like. I was only 6 when Sweet brought out Ballroom Blitz, which I believe Set Me Free is off of the same album, Desolation Blvd.
BTW, Saxon has become my favorite band for the in the last 15 years so I'm just "a little" prejudiced towards them!
Another good version is the Heathen cover, though they tightened up the arrangement of the original.
Immortal classics!!
great version of andys classic mal on vocals sings with slade now.drummer bodo scoph and keys and guitar steve mann were in micheal shenkers band not forgetting jeff brown on bass who went to sing in sweet for a few years great band sweet go deep purple on of there best songs.
ANDY...YOU ARE THE SWEET...
Such a fantastic group that my father introduced me early in me early days. What a delight it was to watch their concert here in Brazil a few years ago.
+Haita DID he explain that is NOT the group
Aussie Outlaw Of course that is. Andy cartões on with Sweet since 1985, and back Then the band was called only Sweet. He Just changed the band's name to andy Scott's Sweet when Mick left the band. And then switched again to The Sweet when he died.
***** LMAO, Ahhh ok
Funny Haita, my mother had the 45 single of Ballroom Blitz back in the 70's when I was only a little kid too. I played it OVER AND OVER on my little portable record player she gave me. The B-Side of Ballroom Blitz was a song called Restless which I just loved! Every time I hear these songs, I feel like I've actually traveled in time back to my bedroom in the mid 70's! Ahhh, the good old days!
Love it 😍
JUST AMAZING.....SOUND SO WELL....
Metal nas veias.
Wow they're tight
Great song
The style of the great drummer here reminds the great MIKKEY DEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This track was speed metal well before it's time and as heavy and as fast as anything Purple ever came out with with before the time of it's release.
This tune was written in 74, I'm pretty sure its the first song ever recorded in this speed metal style,
people fail to see this, hundreds of bands copied this style including Judas Priest. Andy Scott still kicks ass!!!
I get you completely
Fireball, Deep Purple, 1971
No, Priest never did speed metal. They did some prog stuff and a bit of new wave influenced music though, as well as a NWOBHM sound. Also, this song wasn't speed metal either originally. It was just heavy metal. This version is sped up from the original on the album.
@@camerondodge2070 Of course Judas tackled speed metal. Exciter, Call the Priest, Genocide(live1979) and Dissident Aggressor are indisputably prime examples of them pulling it off. And those songs were pre-NWOBHM too.
@@camerondodge2070 Ignore. Keep reading if you want. Just throwing out some history.
Their first album is the only and I mean, ONLY example of prog in their discography; and to their credit, all those songs were throwaways written by the previous vocalist, Al Atkins. If it weren’t for Gull records, Rocka Rolla would not exist. The prog element was issued by the label.
Auch schon wieder über 30 Jahre her. Wo ist die Zeit geblieben.
Harmonies are great , sorry to say lead just isn't Brian, no offence
Muy bueno!!!
fantastic 🔥
Live!!
What a drummer
The Drummer is the Son of Mick Tucker ;) great Performance. Andy is one of the best Guitarists on HEAVY METAL \m/
Mick Tucker only had a daughter as far as I know
@@paulm42 I know my Friend :) . I meant it ironical ( ;) ) cause the drummer is very good.
@@loddel3 ahhh sorry I thought mick had a son I didn't know about
@@paulm42 Your'e welcome my Friend :)
This is really kick ass. Most people probably know them from ballroom blitz or fox on the run, which are nothing like this..
Mal kicked ass with Sweet and is still rockin' it with Slade:) Pete Lincoln is now front man for Sweet and his solo cds are so worth having :)
Awesome..
Hell yeeeeesssss, this line up is almost than amazing like the original!!!
if you like Mal McNulty check him out as the front man for Slade :)
SHREDD!!!!!
Goddamn,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Brian sure did sing well back in the days
DKDonson
DKDonson This is not Brian, you know.
Oh yeah, what I mean is that mr. Connolly was one hell of a singer... not talking bout this fellow
DKDonson I agree nowhere near that same feeling
If you want to understand a KICK ASS rock song with MOJO and innovation, just start here.....FUCKIN A baby!
A Shaddow of Sweet.
Hardcore-Punk!!!!
Ma ovo je jebeno, najbolji drum solo ikad.
TI SI PEDAR?
But very good!!!
Tommy Lee Jones on vocals )))Joke. Good job guys. Thank you.
Yeah, I know....Brian and the "classic" Sweet. But this is a good song and the singer is great and they are not trying to imitate something no longer in existence. I'd rather have it this way than continuously having to compare their smash hits sung a new lead singer to Brian's version. So, Kudos from me.
🎸🎸🎸😍
Nice
Due ALL RESPECT - the drummer PERFECT performance,- but to me Jeff Porcaro (TOTO) and Buddy rich, and Mike Tucker STILL TOP 3! :-)
Mike Tucker??
michael thomas tucker.
Michael Thomas "Mick" Tucker - the one and only original Drummer of this
legendary band "Sweet" a.k.a. "The Sweet" !
Fun Fact - Their album "Desolation Boulevard" was the first N.W.O.B.H.M. album - nearly 10 years before that sub-genre even had a name !
Drummer like a God...
There's another live concert with new members except andy. I think from 90's. Can someone post it please. It even has topless dancers!
Recently attended a show in Shepparton (regional Victoria -Australia) and they wowed us all, it was a great show for sure. Just wondering if the drummer on this video is the same guy in today's lineup.
After Mick left in 1990 Bodo Schopf took over for a very brief time, then Bruce Bisland replaced him in 1992 and he has been the drummer ever since.
No Bodo Schopf is not in the band now but , as Fabian S said, Bruce Bisland is still kicking it ol'school for Sweet :)
Pretty dam good I say!
Na porrada 🤘
best Version ever !
Flanger overkill!
Why in heaven's name is Bodo Schoff not in the drummers hall of fame .....the boy can play :)
+Mary-Anne Swanson Sure he can play! He was in the Michael Schenker Group too!
Mary-Anne Swanson This is not Brian, you know.
I know it's Mal McNulty who now fronts Slade and is a great vocalist . No he is not Brian but he can still stand on his own as an excellent vocalist :)
ps the fella with the big black head of hair is Jeff Brown and he also was a lead for Sweet and now has a band ,a solo career as well as gigging with The Tremolos . I have his cd and it is really rockin :)
ian. bodo the drummer on here and steve mann are x micheal shenkar bruce bisland was the drummer you saw has been with the sweet about 22 yrs has played for wildfire that had original iron maiden vocalist paul mario day who sang with the sweet in the 80s
agreed although it's the legacy of sweet
Andy Scott with a bunch of hired guns.... but I'll take it.
This could be Judas Priest or Iron Maiden!?
Neither would exist without this
