    Love the video! Helpful on how I should distribute my body weight to make those big saves👍

    Great content, being able to remain balanced with good footwork while shifting left to right without losing that balanced posture is so crucial. I see it so often that when the set up is balanced, good posture our feet are free, i use that turm free because if the keeper body weight transfers to much while shifting laterally the feet are no longer able to perform there part in the save so there not free. Its very rare i see a trained keeper beaten by a saveable shot when he has good balance with posture and his feet are doing there job. Once again great content. Im a keeper from many years ago and only this year have got back Involved due to my son starting U8s and ofcourse he wants to play half game keeper. So i started breaking it down back to the basic beginner fundamentals and its really starting to show in his games, now at U8s that allways doesnt mean saving goals its movement poasture balance positioning.Any way thanks i enjoy you shows

    Omar, gotta question for ya. In several of your training sessions, you encourage the keeper to sink in to their set for low service, and in this session you advise staying taller for the high service. With the advanced knowledge of where the shot is coming (high/low) this makes sense. But in a game with unpredictable shots where do you advise the keeper "set"? I would think the sinking into your set (with hands staying neutral), because its easier to come high out of a lower set, rather than stay tall and go low (especially for the taller keepers). Just wanted your thoughts. Thanks.

      Hey Rob!
      Sorry I am just getting to this.
      So even though he knows where the ball is going, he still has to produce the sinking motion to avoid any arching in his dive. So I am telling Alejandro to do this so that his body begins developing that muscle memory.
      Obviously, in a game there will be many instances where you won't know where the ball is going to be hit, but having that muscle memory and ability to get low and then drive in a split second, is KEY.
      Hope that makes sense!

      @@progkacademy Thanks for getting back to me! I have been incorporating this approach (one-on/one-off & prep step along with the sink) into my training for all of my age groups. It has really provided an "ah-ha" moment for some of my GKs when correcting certain issues with their dive/reactions. I really appreciate your channel and follow religiously, its a massive help for continuing my GK education (been quite a few years since I played and the position is constantly evolving). Thanks again!

      When I worked with a coach the reason he said sink down in the set was because the ball is close and that close the only place you can really hit it is low and when the shooter is farther like the 18 yard box you can set a lot higher because at that distance the ball most likely will go up

    What if during that prep step (before he is fully set) the shot is taken? Are both his feet are in the air and so therefore his reach is extremely limited? Also (and I'm only guessing) could getting either yourself or a PT coach to teach him the correct technique for box jumps help with distributing his weight during his set position? A main part of box jumps especially 'depth box jumps' is being able to land softly and evenly distribute weight throughout the legs in order to power/drive yourself back up. I don't know tho, just a thought. Great video regardless, Always a pleasure to watch. Ps....... Merch?

    • @progkacademy
      @progkacademy  Před 5 lety +3

      So, when I mention the prep set, I want it to be a slight jump so that you wouldn't get caught in the air and if you did, you would be able to get your feet back to the ground quick enough where it wouldn't completely hinder your ability to get a dive off!
      I love the idea of pairing goalkeeping with PT training/strength training. A lot of that translates very well for us!
      and the merch is coming!!

    • @bor233
      @bor233 Před 5 lety +1

      Yes the more I think of it, the more miniscule that "gap" becomes. Yeah, I think personally, learning the correct technique for depth box jumps alone would help Alejandro, It'd help distribute that weight and he does look like he knows his way around a gym!!! I think you should link this video to De Gea....... Might do him some good. Can't wait for more content and the merch!! Great work as usual!

    You should really focus on him going to the ball with both hands. To catch of course , a keeper at his age needs to be able to go with both hands to catch them readjust to one hand depending on speed and location of ball

      I suggest you just go out see if you can stop the ball and if you get scored on learn from went wrong you cant get better at something without practice and without putting it into a real game situation

      I wouldn't say always. I'd rather you take a prep hop step right a the shot is about to be taken than be overtly on your toes!

    Your goalkeeper, when he has to dive a lateral ball, make a mistake, since he drives himself with the leg furthest from the ball instead of the one closest to the ball. It's like their legs are being swept
