@@tb12olemiss wassup man congrats on selecting the shit anit for the WEAK FR!
Update, I just got hired on and went through orientation. The first day is all video training, the 2nd day you get 7 hours of forklift training. The 3rd day your paired up with your trainer and you start doing the job. I hope this helps Also I'm at Sams Club distribution center so I don't know if theres anything different. I can also tell you we don't have to pick orders we basically do cross docking out of my center
I appreciate you letting us know what to expect, thank you Trent
No problem. Thanks for watching
You did a good job explaining your experience. This will be helpful for my son.
Glad I could help out. Good luck
Good job Trent! Another awesome video and follow up information. I think Iâve watched the first part of this. Keep it up!
Thanks Lala
148 đ 14k viewsâŠ. DO MORE! đ†need to here more about benefits and work environment also would be cool to hear about the experience they looking for to hire you at the DC
What happens if you donât meet your times for receiving and they hold you accountable do they fire you or put you in a different position I donât wanna transfer from my other job if they just fired you like that I have a mortgage payment I just came from my walk around. I need to decide if Iâm going to take the job please let me know as soon as possible.
They give new hires now 6 months I believe to reach 100 percent. It used to be 3 months. Each week you are expected to improve a little bit. First week think your required to run like 50 I think. My first day I ran 78. Very few donât make those requirements. I wouldnât worry about that
Really the hardest thing at first is the stacking. So many boxes are different sizes and heights and it can be hard at first how to stack. Youâre going to brake and drop trips at first. I can guarantee it
Ask your trainer and other co workers for advice on what to do and what they recommend. If they can tell your willing to learn and will try they will help you out
Thank you, very helpful tips:)
No problem
Great video lots of good information âčïž Good tip on paying attention to your trainer even if you think itâs easy. Love hearing the birds đŠ very relaxing!
Outside situations in the country. Thanks for watching TD. Always listen and pay attention is very important
Really interesting information and sounds like a interesting job
Interesting for sure. Thanks for watching Hershey
Thanks for the insight. I got an interview coming up at the Walmart DC here in my state. Wish me luck đ€
No problem. Good luck
What is the starting pay?
Iâm gonna be doing the weekend shift sat-mon 5:30pm - 5:00am 22$ an hour unloader for my first job it doesnât sound to hard cause Iâm a big guy being 250lbs at 6â1-6â2 but def gonna be nervousđ
You got this. Good luck
What type of equipment does freight handler work with, for example power tools, headsets, forklifts?
Orderfillers you pallet jacks and headsets
thank you so informative
So curious question i applied at my local walmart dc but i haven't heard back from them in like 3 weeks after my tour you think they will call me back or should i move on and apply somewhere else?
I would give them a call and see if thereâs a update. Iâve heard of many similar situations like this
So over time is a no go
Things have changed now in the last couple of years.
Some dcâs will let help come in. Some of those that come in to help still may not reach there 40 hours or they may go just right past it but not by much. Iâve heard of some dcâs who employers working 50+ hours if they want to. May just depend on how far behind your dc is
Great video man! Very informative. Iâve applied at my local Walmart dc. Was just curious in your opinion, would you see the position as a freight handler being a long term career or just a short term job?
I enjoy the time off, pay, and benefits but thereâs not many out there that do this 10-20+ years. It is hard work and itâs a young manâs job to be honest. Most either transfer or quit and donât do it for 10-20+ years
I know every dc is probably different but would you say thereâs room for advancement if you start out as a freight handler and maybe a few years down the road be able to say move up to supervisor? I was just curious the work I do is similar to it but where Iâm at the vacation stinks and thereâs no room to advance. I was hoping somewhere like Walmart you could start at the bottom and work your way up
@@kylecunningham6636 lots of opportunities to move up. Of course you have lots of different opportunities on the dry side and cold side. Orderfilling, hauling, loading, lift driver, etc. Have office jobs, managers, supervisors, yard drivers, truck drivers, maintenance and so many other things to choose from. Some are not worth it at all to me but some are worth doing. Also on my shift itâs harder to move up because it was a hard shift to get on in the first place and most of the veterans are on this shift. Most of new hires go to weekend and night shift. Also weekends and night you have more people quitting. Opportunityâs may come up on something your interesting in but may not be on the shift you want. Thatâs a problem me and others run into is we donât want to change shifts
Ok sweet. Man I really appreciate the info. It really helps for sure. Iâm in my 30s still kinda trying to find a career or somewhere to work for the long haul. People told me to try the walmart dc so I was just curious if it would be somewhere to consider. Your video def helps a lot thanks again
@@tb12olemiss I'm only interested in an office and administrative type of position at WDC in Sealy TX.
However, they are requiring for one to have at least 6 months experience in an office related type of work. So the issue comes down to............. One cannot obtain the position without the experience, and one cannot obtain the experience without the position. So, what do you do in this case?? đ€·
Just started order filling in the freezer on the weekends for $31.65
Good luck. It will pay good but your going to be extremely cold every day lol
Itâs 40%f first couple of weeks
Iâm trying to see if I should leave Publix distribution center and go to Walmart Distribution Center, Publix start off at 22.50 and their production percentage goes up to 200% if you run 200 for the week you get paid $50 an hour when Walmart pays $21.30 and you said their percentage only goes up till % and Publix feeds you every day, got a buffet hot line and a salad bar And good benefits, and you get free stock with the company after 90 days I just donât know which one I should go to because I donât know what to expect at Walmart and you only have to run 80% true maintain your job
Oh wow yeah Publix sounds better. Yeah Walmart starting right over 20 per hour. U said Publix tops out at 200 but Walmart only tops out at 150 now. Wow you even get free food every day. We got to bring out lunch or go somewhere nearby every day for lunch. Yeah sounds like Publix sounds a lot better
Walmart steals your incentive money if u get an error
Also, the dry department makes u pick up hella pallets due to them making it ours and not the forklift operators responsibility
Nah bro Publix sounds better
Hello My Dear Friend. Watching Today From Bikol Albay Philippines. Rabasero Sister Here. Harangs. Have a Great Day.
Hey đ. Thanks for watching
@@tb12olemiss My Pleasure My Dear.
Can you explain weekend schedule is it Friday-Sunday? Or Saturday-Monday?
Weekend Saturday-Monday. Weekday Tuesday-Friday
How much do they pay hourly for those who start out as a freight handler
If you work night shift you get paid extra. If you work weekends you get paid extra. If you work on the cold side you get paid extra. Depends on what department and days youâre interested in working. Starting pay could be anywhere from 20-30 a hour
@@tb12olemiss I just put in my application a lastnight , how long does it take them to get back with you? and if they donât within a week should I call HR?
@@tylert455 think it took about a week until they gave me a call. I would say if you donât here back in less than 2 weeks give them a call for sure
@@tb12olemiss appreciate it
Trent, I have a very close friend named Porter. Parents are threatening to kick him out of the house if he donât get a job and heâs interested in Walmart DC. Any tips for him?
Does he have any warehouse experience? Know they prefer that. If so you got a lot better chance. Weekdays is harder to get on and have to probably start on weekends or nights but still check and see whatâs available. I like only working 4 days and off 3. Good pay, benefits, retirement and more. Most likely have to start orderfilling which will be on your feet all day and picking up stuff all day. Any more questions ? Hopefully that will help your friend Porter out
@@tb12olemiss Thanks for the help. I will pass this information onto him.
4 hour
You still work there?
@@Luis-229_ yes still there
Do you know how many hours weekly ?
Close to 40 Hours on average
@@tb12olemisscan you ask for more hours ?
@@Angeljlc17 thereâs some weeks/ weekends extra hours is a possibility. Especially around hours or some weekends when they short staff they looking for extra help but most weeks no at my dc. Others dc may be different
At my DC you're scheduled for 4 10 hours shifts, expect 36 hours a week on average, sometimes less, sometimes more or even mandatory overtime on Friday. Every once in a while they'll send people home if they have too many people.
How much do they pay you per hour
Itâs different for every position. Which one you thinking about applying too?
â@@tb12olemissdo you get bonus pay for working fast? Is there a 3 12 shift?
@@clashwithjoe128 I know this is old, but there's no bonus pay for being over production.
Don't let them scare you off with the production quotas. As long as you're working hard and reasonably close to the quota they're not going to do anything, in my experience.
You may be more fit for a certain job, if your area manager is any good they'll put you in a more fitting spot.
Yes, you can get 50% more an hour for orderfilling. You run 150% as an average by each week. Huge difference.
