My husband just got off ECMO a few days ago, if it was not for that technology he may not be with us today. Doctors told us he almost lost his life. I credit all the doctors and nurses, for caring,, loving and supporting us, and never giving up.
This machine saved my 2yo daughter. Watched for hours while they tried keeping her oxygen up with a ventilator and it just wouldn’t stay above 80%. Rushed an ecmo pump in the back of a nurses husbands truck and got her on ecmo. She wouldn’t be alive without it. The success rate is low but when it’s their only option, it’s a no brainer.
I was on this a few months ago. I had the same problem with not being able to keep oxygenated. I’m so glad it worked for me and so glad it worked for your daughter ❤
WOW I was on ECMO only 7 weeks ago with PCP Pneumonia. This post would not exist without ECMO. Looks like this chap is going to be busy with a lot of Rehab.
@@jonathangalante2829 I was on ECMO for 8 days starting on December the 6th. I think the fact that I have trained all my life has helped me with recovery. But when I woke up, I was in Delirium, and lost about 20 kg of Muscle mass, and could not even walk. How did you get on?
@@jonathangalante2829 I had blood cancer about 2 and a half years ago, with a bone marrow transplant. My immune system is still a bit compromised, and this opportunist PCP Pneumonia, which only hits immunocompromised people hit me like a sledgehammer. Going well now, back to full cardio workouts.
Hello Simon, I am so thrilled to hear of your recovery. I am curious if you received a double lung transplant after being on ECMO, or if you were able to recover your own lungs during your 7 weeks on this machine?
I remember I was saved by ECMO in Australia last Christmas, and I dreaded seeing the physio's coming towards me, as I was just so weak. My lungs burned on getting up, my heart rate was around 120 just standing, and of course my legs were too weak to hold my body. But here I am now at 55 years of age doing full boxing workouts with my son. I just pray everyone takes care of themselves, gets vaccinated, because once that oxygen saturation hits the lower level you are in trouble. Doctors said;; we are just going to give your lungs a little rest on this machine''. I knew what that meant, and the percentage of survival was only 20%.
you probably dont give a damn but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account? I somehow lost the password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Reed Bruno thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Yeah my Boyfriend bless him has a hole in his brain his fingernails started falling off & skin he has PTSD & trouble learning new things & bad anxiety but he's looking after himself thank God!!!! Thank The Lord God he's still here. I don't know where I'd be without him atm.

Rest in peace your friend
I was on the machine for 2 weeks for Ards. Sorry for your loss

Pretty amazing things we can do these days in modern medicine.

TPN, ECMO and nasal cannula. Jesus i can just imagine the staffing thats required for all this.

@@maverickgraysen2537 You got it tough. Wow not being able to get into instagram, life and death.
I spent 6 months on ECMO a ventilator and a dialysis machine it saved my life but left me handicapped.
ALLAH YAR VE YARDIMCINIZ OLSUN
he's so lucky he had ecmo on standby my brother had to wait and my brother is way younger than him. My brother is 26 and been through 2 cprs.
My 11 year old might need to be put on ecmo. Ill find out in an hour. Doing some research. I dont know what else to do but to research.
No credits for Perfusionist wow
Yesss , the worst
My brother who has COPD, was placed on one of these machines today.
Is he ok?
ECMO does not work in all patients and cases there are a lot of dangers

There are far more dangers than not being on it if required. It is the highest form of life support.
Interessant
Is ecmo usable for copd or ipf patients
That poor chain to the roller blind....
The reality is this guy will discharge and go home and go back to smoking and not exercising or dieting. It is the American way
The Japanese say, this machine has a 50% survival rate for people dying of coronavirus!!! In the news in Japan today!
Let’s be real here once your on ECMO more than likely you will never make it
I was on only 7 weeks ago with late-stage PCP Pneumonia. Without ECMO this post would not exist.
I did. ❤
