How to floss like a boss!

- It's still really important to clean the areas in between teeth, as brushing alone cannot remove the plaque from these areas effectively. Floss is one technique of removing plaque interdentally. Alternatively you could use interdental brushes.
If you floss incorrectly, it may not be effective, and can actually cause unnecessary trauma to the gums. Remember to wrap the floss around the side of the tooth to scrape the plaque from in between teeth.

You would be surprised how little people actually floss everyday. And in the group of people that do floss everyday, how many of them do it incorrectly.

I just flossed properly for the first time . Here are a 3 tips
-Wrap more floss around one finger then the other so you can work your way down the string of floss. Much nicer then going back and forth
-Pay attention to how tight the floss is getting around your finger. My finger started turning purple and numb because i was cutting circulation with the floss and i didn't even notice!
-Dont! buy cheap floss. I used floss i got at the store for 75Cents. It frayed sooooo Much and pieces of the floss actually started getting stuck in my teeth lol

Use your middle finger to load up the floss. this way your index finger is free to maneuver the floss about and you don't have to worry it will unwind on the index finger.

actually you have to constantly roll the floss on your thumb and use a clean, uncontaminated, part for each tooth. If you only use one stripe for all teeth, you will only move bacteria from one tooth to another.

Nekochii Chan yes it's normal to go under the gum, it may bleed a little at first if they are inflamed but if you continue doing it your gums will become less inflamed and they will get tighter against your tooth.

The problem that this video does not explain how to solve is that my teeth are actually inside my mouth. And the difficulty is not only to know how to floss correctly, but also how to get to those teeth. No matter what I try, I just can't really get to most of the teeth. I can do the front ones, sure. But what about the rest?
Try using the dental floss sticks/interdental brushes, so that one hand can hold the stick and the other can pull the cheek away I feel like it helps a lot, anyway this video is so stupid ngl, like why is she shoving the floss under the tooth and out the other side, is this a tooth removal video😂😂😂

This is quite useful as I've just started flossing. I am able to get the floss into the "trouble areas" where plaque builds up, but my teeth aren't perfectly straight. So it's been a bit of a nuisance getting the floss to clean the gum line.
Thank you so much for this video! I am new to this concept of flossing and hope to begin soon because I recently had four minor cavities taken care of and all were in my front teeth. I was very shocked to know that when the dentist had told me about them. Now I don't want to make any further mistakes so I intend to start flossing

The problem I have with these demonstrations of flossing, the correct way to brush your teeth and using interdental brushes ect is because most of the time a dummy model of the teeth and gums are used. It doesn't show the technique of flossing ect in real time on a real persons mouth. Show us how you use floss on your own teeth. It will be more instructive.
I and others find that we can't wrap the floss around our fingers and pull it taut across our thumbs like you show in this post. And I've tried.
Also if your gums do bleed when you floss, you should make an appointment to see your dentist, as you could be suffering from gingivitis. Your dentist then will advise you what you should do about it. It may mean for a short time you'll have to brush with a toothpaste that contains Chlorhexidine. A toothpaste like Curaprox, which has Chlorhexidine in it.
And it wouldn't hurt to rinse your mouth out with a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water in days prior to your dental appointment..... ⚛️

I got braces recently and flossing is so annoying now, but I got used to it the top is pretty easy, but the bottom ones it's near impossible I can't even get the interdenral throught it
I just saw an ad for a product that claim's flossing damages your teeth and gums. The company is lying. Flossing helps clean in the places a toothbrush can't reach. Also, I have tried a water pick, it can't get in between my gums it is not strong enough to do anything but spray water into my mouth causing a mess. I feel better after flossing with dental floss. If I don't have a toothbrush on hand I use floss and brush my teeth when I get home. I was thinking about making a travel bag with mouth wash and floss and an extra toothbrush for holiday dinners. It would be nice to have a way to brush my teeth when I am visiting my family for holidays. We usually have dinner together on the main holidays. I always have food stuck in my teeth and I have to wait hours before going home. Thank you for sharing. You are helpful. ❤️👍

I see some dentists who do a single swipe up after going under gum line (your examples) vs others who up and down (which I heard before can push plaque under the gumline). So should be a single swipe up or up and down several times?
What do you do if your floss gets stuck? Last time I flossed it got stuck and I pulled it out and chipped my tooth. Im honestly scared to floss after that tbh. Then again I was using the plastic ones because I thought they would be easier to use.

People who have healthy gums with no gum recession ideally should floss, People who have gingival recession with associated gum disease (periodontitis) may benefit more with the Water flossers; especially if they have deep pockets. However waterflossers are only beneficial in gum disease immediately AFTER a professional clean from a Dental Professional.
My teeth are so tight I can barely get the floss in between some of them and extracting it I have to pull very hard.
Why don't you try dental floss from 'Piksters'
I just found out there's a brand out there specifically for different types of dentals. Most people use it for braces but afraid not.. The sizes varies so you can just choose one that suits you. The name 'Piksters' because they are intended to pick instead of gliding through in between your teeth like normal floss does. I believe they are call interdental pick cause they can go deep into your gums and in between by picking. The smallest size is 00 (0.32mm)

I got the satin floss with mint. And i think mint shavings come off and get on my hands. Is that the floss splitting or is it just mint? Is Oral b Glide better?

Rezetro I recommend you floss daily. If you do it regularly the gum becomes less inflamed over time, healthier and stronger so there will be less bleeding

Joseph Jeyakumar Alphonse you can use those if you prefer. This way is cheaper and less plastic thrown away. Also I feel better control using my fingers than the holders

Many dentists recommed not to take floss inside gumline as it will cause gum recession.

after taking a bunch of prescription drugs. I started getting pain in one tooth whenever I eat or drink something with sugar. Especially drinks seem to in there. I can also feel a difference in the tooth, like it's sharp. Was at the tentist, they even did an X-ray. Didn't find anything. But still have the issue. What should I do? :)
