Welcome to Hong Kong. As a local Hongkonger I am so glad you love Hong Kong. After watching your video, I can even discover more how amazing of this city is.Thanks for your vlog, just simply excellent.
Hong Kong is one of my favourite cities in the world. Amazing architecture, food, geography, transport, convenience, modernity, history. It's pretty much got everything.
I recommend you do two things.
1. Eat a steamed garoupa on lamma island at one of the seafood restaurants. Trust me, even if you don't like fish you'll like this. Rainbow restaurant is a classic
2. Hike up to the top of Braemar Hill, stand on the rock and enjoy the most epic 360 degree view of Hong Kong.
We have really enjoyed it!! We were on a weird schedule for a lot of our trip, which kept us from trying the best food. Definitely want to go back sometime though! :D We didn't even know about steamed garoupa!
Thanks for your travel guide, I planned to do in this Autumn.
@@IfWeGoTo I already subscribed to your channel, hope to see your Shanghai video soon
Thanks
I am a local in HONG KONG. I understand it all depends on one's budget. Yet I recommend to stay in regular hotel, but not Airbnb in some old buildings . The hotel usually has a nice environment with better cleaning . That is my advice for all travelers
Thank you SO much for your tips! Next time we will definitely opt for a hotel.
We chose the Airbnb over a hotel for a specific reason, but actually did end up switching to a hotel during the trip (though nothing was actually wrong with the unit itself). We will explain more in our coming video!! :)
totally agreed.
You stayed in a building with no elevator??? Why? Stay in a hotel. Some are very reasonable
Will explain in the next video 😊
Yes, as a local Hongkonger, very less people in HK use Airbnb, it's not famous and led to poor quality living place 😢
So great that you are showing HK. Mongkok not the glamorous side of the city but it does have a lot of character. The scaffoldings is not because they are poor, but bamboo is actually proven stronger than steel scaffoldings in a storm. And it's environmentally friendly and economic, best of both worlds. But it does take a special technique and skill to do so there are trained professionals to do it. That's what is used for renovations and building skyscrapers. Amazing to see!
HK is my hometown, thank you for doing this video! Makes me miss HK so much, and hope you guys enjoy your month there!
I live in HK for many years, very dynamic , a city never sleep with diversity of people all over the world. If you are fast path person this place will impress you. Hope u two had a great stay here❤
I went to Hong Kong last year just as the announced they dropped all covid restrictions. Am from uk so it was 14hr flight! But so worth it! After watching your video brought back so much memories. My first time travelled on my own too. Glad you guys enjoyed it. I hope to visit again cuz theres so much more i wanted to see.
Hong Kong local here, welcome to HK! I am glad that you’re having a pleasant stay here. For the bamboo scaffoldings, it’s used in construction/renovations and once the work is done, the scaffoldings will be dismantled. Hope that helps! :D
Bamboo scaffolding has been a tradition for HK for many years! prob the only place in the world that uses bamboo for scaffolding. Its cheap, strong and quick to put up and down compared to metal.
Good choice of HK style noodle and tea. It is very popular among the locals. 😋
The most underrated travel channel of CZcams. Thanks again for another amazing video!
Wow, thank you so much! 😊
Welcome to Hong Kong and have a nice trip👯♂️
Thank you very much!! 🙏😊
Thank you for vistiting HK; Yes, HK is very much like New York. The only diverse and the only active metropolitan in the Eastern side of the globe.
You should go hiking the rural side anywhere of HK, the views are just stunning and they're all reachable within 30 mins from the city.
Thank you!!! HK looks like it has some great nature to get out into!!
Welcome to HK! A warm greeting from the local people! Hope you enjoy every moment in HK😊
Thank you!!! 😊
Always fun to see a new video come out and feel like I’m experiencing some of your travels!
I'm really glad we can make them!! They're time consuming but sooo much better than just photos!
Amazing vlog, full of funs , colors and different angles of the city🎉
Thanks a ton!! 😊
This is my favourite travel channel. :) It makes me want to visit places I would haven't considered before. I've booked a trip to Taiwan after being inspired by your videos. Keep up the great work :)
Ohh no way! That is awesome! Hope you have an amazing time in Taiwan, it’s so much fun there! Thank you so much. 😊❤️
Welcome to HK !!! That's bamboo scaffolding, as the building is under renovation, workers really climb out and work on the outer wall, the net of it is to prevent objects fall down to the street during renovation. Using bamboo because its tough and strong nature while still flexible enough. It's a HK heritage. Eco friendly as well as they will be reused. Enjoy your time here ;)
Great explanation!
Hi! That’s my dog in the black raincoat and my husband walking in Tsim Sha Tsui. Hope you are having great time in Hong Kong! 19:52 there’s a lot more to see too - beautiful mountains and beaches :) have lots of fun and stay cool 😎
Oh no way!! That’s so cool. Your dog is so cute!
We really enjoyed Hong Kong! There is so much more to explore! Thank you so much. :)
The blue light you saw are fishing boats in the sea, they usually fish at night with a strong blue light hence the blue lighting
Thanks for coming to Hong Kong :) the bamboo that’s covering the buildings is called scaffolding. It is used for renovation. Actually it is a traditional Chinese style renovation method which only a few places still adopting nowadays. you should take more picture of this as it may be disappear in the near future.
Welcome to Hong Kong.
Thank you!! 😊
Love your video! you guys are cool & generously show your trip to Hongkong! Can't wait to see more!!
Thank you so much!! We’ve had a small delay creating our next video, but hope to post it soon!! 😊
glad to see foreigners visiting HK again. Immerse in HK food culture and our country sides, u will like it.
Some tips for your next visit:
Spring: Always raining and very humid (sometimes 100% humidity)
May 2024: whole month raining
Summer: Best visibility and blue sky. You can take perfect photos but hot like hell, suggest bring one more T shirt for changing.Otherwise, the humid weather will easily make you become smelly.
Autumn: Best temperature for visit and hiking.
Winter: You won't even sweat, nice weather for city walk. Visibility may not good sometimes, no blue sky.
Thank you so much for your tips!!
Downside to winter - apartments often lack any form of heating, so it can actually feel quite cold, especially at night.
You are so welcome to Hong Kong! Please enjoy the trip
Thank you!!! 😊
beautiful smile from both of you makes the whole videos delightful.
Good to see u guys travelling to HK as a hker, enjoy the trip :D
The beaches in HK is beautiful and quiet
The bamboo scaffolding is how we built our building or restoration, we have typhoons in summer, so when winding the bamboo falls but don't hurt 😂
guys, welcome to hk and looking forward to your next video of exploration and discovery in hk.😅
Welcome to HK . Expect you enjoying the trip to HK with delicious food and fruit.
Thank you!!! We had a lot of fun!!
Good to know you guys are enjoying some adventure in HK! Yes we do use bamboos to do renovation work for buildings. Hopefully you guys will enjoy more good food here
15:53 - the bamboo scaffolding outside the buildings - they are under renovation. Sometimes you'll see workers climbing all over the scaffolding doing the work. It is quite common here in HK.
Yes!! There were lots of workers!! It was impressive!
Welcome to Hong Kong! Hope you enjoyed the trip here!
Yes! Thank you!
I just randomly watched your video. your video is so cool. Anyway, welcome you guys to HK.
Welcome to Hong Kong, I wish you a pleasant journey.
Hong Kong is the last (if not one of the last) place on earth still uses bamboo as scaffolding. It’s because it’s fast growing and cheap. They use it to build skyscrapers.
(I was born and raised there until I was 10). Have lots of tips if you wanna know!
It seems so smart and sustainable!! I wonder why so many places decided to go without it in time? Is it maybe more fire prone in dry areas?
We would love any tips!!! We are a bit behind on our videos, but definitely plan to return to HK one day!! We were on a weird sleep/wake schedule our entire visit so feel like we missed a lot of it!
@@IfWeGoTo it seems crazy but they’ve been doing it for centuries building houses, I must admit it does sound very scary though on paper.
@@RaymondwLin it is really smart… I think the scariest part were the ties and the feet were not always evenly cut… but it seems to work so we can’t knock it!!
They sometimes use it in Taiwan.
Welcome to HK🤝enjoy & have fun too🎉
That’s always nice to see all the foreign folks to show everyone a true nice video of how my home Hong Kong is. We don’t need to say how nice here but just a fair comment is enough. We also have bad things somehow but I rather to let everyone know it is what it is.
Hong Kong is a multi national culture city and you can enjoy everything here. It’s always easy to access to every places and by octopus or pay wave( except taking the cab you may need to carry enough cash).
Food are nice and people are kind to all visitors.
I agree with a comment that better not stay in AB&B but rather to take standard hotel .
Anyway enjoy and we all welcome you guys to visit again for more wonderful exploration ❤🎉😊
Welcome to Hong Kong 😊🎉🎉
CZcams logic brought me here! Love new channel!!!
Thank you!! 😊🙏
Welcome to Hong Kong. 😊 Enjoy your time.
Dai Pai Dong also famous in Hong Kong and is the place we always have dinner together. It’s so Hong Kong style. If you have time, you can try it.
Welcome to Hog Kong. I hope that this trip wil be a good memories. Enjoy
I'm a local HK. Thanks for coming to HK. I do agree with other comments that staying at hotels is better. Also about the bamboo thing - it's the tyipcal construction style here, and yes workers do climb on it and work😂
Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Shenzhen are all big cities in China. Shenzhen is next to Hong Kong and can be reached in 30 minutes.
Thank you for your recommendation!! 🙏😃
Welcome to HongKong!Here’s a few tips..(I’m a hker for 10 years)
Don’t buy unnecessary things
Transport by bus instead of train due to lack of price
Sit in normal instead of first class (if ur on train)
look at the schedule if ur very late or the bus time is very long
book a cheap and good hotel(e.g. in Tsim SHA Tsui)
MAKE SURE TO GO TO AVENUE OF STARS AND K11
REMEMBER TO LOOK AT OLD BUILDINGS SINCE IT MIGHT HAVE SOME THINGS IN WW2 OR BEFORE
Remember I commented along with the vid :)
welcome to Hong Kong, enjoy yr trip🎉🎉🎉

Oh how lovely!! Hope you have a great trip!! Thank you for watching!! 😊
Welcome to HK, though it’s been drastically changed and deteriorated on many grounds since 1997 handed over from the UK to PRC😊
Welcome to Hong Kong and I think it’s nice for you to stay a few more days to explore more of our city. Maybe you can go to the islands to see the beautiful fantastic views❤️❤️❤️❤️.
Welcome to Hong Kong. Hope you enjoy your time here!

And I used to live in California as well 😂
Thank you!! 🙏😊
hong kong people welcome you. Have fun🎉
Thank you!!
Welcome 🎉please enjoy
Welcome to Hong Kong 👍👍
Interesting. Welcome to my hometown.
Welcome to HK, a unique place. You see mixed of East and West, enjoy your trip.
Thank you!
I am so happy that you guys love Hong Kong. Welcome! The bamboo stick you took on the building is actually a construction technique that Hong Kong uses a lot. There might be repair work on the building wall, covering it to prevent some tools from dropping on the road, and the sticks are for workers to walk on them.
Thank you!! Also that is good to know, it was everywhere so we were so curious!
Those bamboo'ed buildings have a very unique style that you can recognize. They are already like 45-60 years old buildings where usually the old/poor people are living in there. Even worse is that some apartments could even partitioned like 1 into 3, 4, 5 bedroom for the poorest people in HK. Like you say, it could just one street across and see you see rich people in high rising/new buildings.
The bamboo'ed building in your video is under large scale of renovotion. Very likely due to forced inspection and maintenance regulation imposed on these old old buildings.
Eat wun ton noddle, a good noodle served with wun ton which mainly meat in wun ton, the surface of wun ton is a layer of flour paste.
Welcome to HK ❤
Thank you!! 😊
17:33As aTaiwanese,my ears perk up when I hear Taiwan . Pineapple bread is indeed Hong Kong food, but it's has been popular in Taiwan for a while, so many people mistakenly think that pineapple bread is Taiwanese food, but in fact, it is Hong Kong food 😂😂
鳳梨酥才是.......哈哈
We really loved Taiwan!! Hope to visit again sometime. They had great pineapple bread there too - despite it being from Hong Kong!
Re the scaffolding, it's used just like steel scaffolding, workers climb onto it to work on building exteriors.
Re the butter, yes often there's a slight lemony zestiness to it, I actually quite like it as it lightens things up a bit and keeps it from feeling too heavy, but obviously not everyone does.
welcome come to hong kong 😊 !
Welcome to Hong Kong 😊
Thank you!! 😊
Thanks for visiting HK! If I had had my summer holidays 2 weeks earlier, I'd really have shown you around some other places of Hong Kong from locals' perspective, in particular, for great food! When I took a tour in Europe decades ago, I missed the wonton noodle ! That's why I have never thought of emigrating to other places. This is my home!❤❤ 3:44
welcome to Hong Kong❤❤
You two are really cool
Wow, the HK Express train was ultra clean and modern. Comfortable, too.
Brisket of beef noodle soup is a safe and delicious order.
Wonton noodle soup is also very tasty.
Omg slayyyyyy I live in HK lol
hello,Welcome to Hong Kong 🥰
Bamboo scaffolding is super sustainable.
It is very strong yet light. It has a tensile strength of 28,000 per square inch, in comparison to steel which is 23,000 per square inch.
It's also cheaper than steel.
We were wondering! It does seem extremely sustainable and like a smart option!!! We couldn't believe seeing the construction guys up on it!!! Do you know if it is more fire-prone?
@@IfWeGoTo And they're eco-friendly as well.
@@IfWeGoToUnfortunately I think it is, and it has happened in the past that fire spread upwards through the scaffolding. It's recommended to cover the bamboo in fire-proof paint to lower the risk.
While we were visiting it seemed like there was a small fire in the night at a nearby business and the scaffolding was affected. But we were not sure what had happened!
Hopefully most places do that!
The airports, train stations, and subway stations in East Asian cities are big and new, and the trains are very clean. They are completely different from those in the United States.
Definitely!! I wish the USA had a comparable transit system. The trains in Asia are really incredible.
Hope you guys have an absolute blast!! Make sure to try out the mango pomelo dessert, the puff pastry egg tart, the roast pork and roast duck, and freshly steamed fish :D!! Also eat lots of dim sum!! And be sure to take a ride on the Star Ferry at Tsim Sha Tsui as well as a tram ride on Hong Kong island!
Thank you so much for your recommendations!!! Mango pomelo?! That sounds amazing!!!
@@IfWeGoTo It certainly is a tasty summer treat :D! I forgot to mention a few notable attractions worth checking out if you have the time. The famous Wong Tai Sin temple a few MTR stations from Mong Kok, Ladies Market in Mong Kok (super long series of streets where they sell all kinds of things), Langham Place shopping mall in Mong Kok, and the Sogo Mall in Causeway Bay where they have a really large and extensive basement food court and supermarket. Hope you both have a great time! Enjoy your stay and please keep us updated on your travels! Best regards :D!
Thank you SO much for this!!! It means a lot to get so many recommendations from you!!
Welcome to Hong Kong ❤
I heard you already visited Shanghai, now I am going to subscribe to your channel and wait for the Shanghai video, I always subscribe to anyone who visits mainland China!!!
Ahh thank you!!! Yes, we’re a bit behind on videos but we filmed one in Shanghai!!

Bamboo trees grow in southern china, and bamboo scaffolding is a special skill
Welcome to HK both enjoy
Thank you!!!
Welcome to Hong Kong❤😊
Welcome to HK.
Given its bleak outlook, it's still a good time to visit here before it goes further downhill. It's so different from what it was 5/6 years ago when food (and everything else) was not so expensive with people wearing more smiles on their faces + not much emigration and brain drain issues. It was a truly international financial centre and a vibrant and dynamic city of great diversity.
As some people have said, hiking is highly recommended and there are many beautiful beaches for taking a dip. Still a lot of lovely sightseeing spots not so touristy.
Hope you guys can come again soon.
Welcome to Hong Kong !
