You can see why tyr is so loved in the realms. Hes so well played.
Odin made a mockery of him.
I hate Tyr, but I have to keep reminding myself that the guy whom I formed my opinion around wasn't actually Tyr
And Odin is Tyr's father.
@@shawnwarrynn8609 Not here.
@@BlossomPathOnStage15 Yep he is, son of Odin and a giant woman, similar to Thor's case.
I hate Tyr. Týr is ok tho.
This DLC is a full on Therapy session for Kratos and Mimir. I’m all for it
Was for me too. I had bad anger issues and a past of not so great actions. This helped me process my past
This is truly a white lawn chair talk moment. I only wish Thor was there too to finally reflect on himself as well.
I think Odin fear Tyr because he knew he could foil all of his plans, talk Thor out of his brute pet status, and probably would aid Kratos much sooner. HECK!! he would probably talk Freya out to make Baldr make him not feel pain at all so he wouldn't turn crazy. Even talk him out of trust Odin too.
I also think Tyr was imprisoned much much much more sooner. Probably almost the same time time Faye fight Thor before.
It makes sense tyr was holding back everytime he fought kratos I wonder what other powers he had that could give odin real trouble if they where to fight
I imagine Tyr has powers and knowledge from his travels that would make him unpredictable in a fight. I mean he's pretty good with so many different weapons, and he's demonstrated to know about Chinese Martial Arts (Tai-Chi in particular).@@joshmanchester5873
I am hopeful the theory thor ascended to the same place Athena did comes true, Thor's death was one of the only true missteps of Ragnorok Imo, not even ironwood i feel is bad it just feels like it was trying to much at once.
Thor is somewhere in Valhalla, so maybe he heard this wherever he is
wise dudes being wise chaps
wise chaps being wise guys, hey hey!
Kratos, Mimir, and Týr: The 3 Wise Dudes
Wise guys being wise lads
3 men, absolute badasses, talking about how much love can make you better and how important their loved ones are to them
don't you ever think men don't have feelings
The social expectation of men showing no feeling comes from, _drumroll_ ....other men.
@@MM-vs2et What are you doing here?
@@MM-vs2et I wouldn't say that. There are countless stories of straight men showing their emotions to women they love, who in-turn betray that confidence and caused men to retreat inwards as a result. The most stoic men all have stories of such moments, where their darkest secret is used against them or a deep yearning and insecurity is treated with the same care as one would a dry leaf on the sidewalk. But of course, he goal is to walk the balance of understanding one's emotions, but not letting them take control, or allow others to take advantage of them. Its a hard line to walk for most, so they opt to never show them because its a less painful alternative.
@@ChadVulpes To speak harsh truths
@@Netherwolf6100 That's not where social expectations come from. It's not a philosophy, it's a value based tradition. It comes from our fathers telling us to "man up" when our feelings get hurt. It comes from our uncles telling us to "keep it to yourself" when we are confused. It comes from our brothers telling us "don't cry" when we are pushed to our limits. It comes from our friends "take it like a man" when we are bullied. It comes from other men. Not women. Women simply echo that expectation that is set up by men.
Everyone needs someone like Tyr in their lives. Either find yours or be Tyr for someone else.
Perhaps it is hubris talking, and not wisdom, but I think I have succeeded at being the Tyr for others. Not, necessarily, speaking words of my own wisdom--though I do aim for that--but being a clear mirror, able to offer back to others truths they may already have, but cannot see.
@@ZekeRaidenThat is...Unfathomably awesome. I hope you succeed in your quest, my friend.
As Uncle Iroh said - "Sometimes the best way to help yourself is to help others"
Maybe by trying to be the Tyr in other people's lives we can ourselves become our own Tyrs, or atleast allow the other person that you are helping the chance to become our Tyr
So, be the boss fight your friends must conquer in order to achieve mental balance. Got it. Can do
@@TheColSamson I know (or at least am pretty sure) this is a joke, but if you need to be, then yes. If you have to be, you’ve gotta be the hardest thing about their lives some times for them to become the best version of themselves.
Holy shit this is actually life changing and enlightening though
Not really. It's not that hard to take insight in things, just give yourself enough time. The hard part is to apply it to your life.
Just because you know how things work doesn't mean it's easy to follow this wisdom.
@@michaelpitou3690 nice try Michael, but you're wrong. Regardless of how hard it may be to apply in real life, the piece of wisdom given is both enlightening and life changing. Feel free to try again bud
@@Vezgod bud, you are gonna forget every piece of enlightening and life changing information 5 minutes after you heard it because you posses no discipline nor aspiration to utilize it. At least stop lying to yourself
@@michaelpitou3690you must be fun at parties
@@michaelpitou3690 Ive never seen such an obvious projection before
"I wonder, what if that better person was within you all along, but you could only see it once it was reflected in another? As though love is the feeling of recognizing the potential in our own soul?"
"You mean to say falling in love is really only about ourselves?"
"Not only that, one hopes, but the more we can own the part that is about ourselves, the more we can see others for who they really are. And love them, truly, in whatever form that takes."
He's spitting absolute facts. Knowing you've found the one is when that person not only makes you want to be better, but see value in yourself. To begin to love yourself to an extent.
You may have saved my life.
Never in all my years did I expect a god of war game to teach me the secrets of love, but here we are.
Alls fair in love and war.
Tyr, from a God of War into a Psychiatrist
War of the body easy. War of the mind... now that's a worthy challenge
man I love when games get philosophical like this. good stuff
Tyr’s voice is very calming I’m ngl
Ironic how a literal god of WAR knows more about love and is a way better person, than like literally everyone I saw both IRL and on dating apps.
War is fundamentally about conflict. Who better to mediate and resolve conflicts, regardless of form, than a God of War who understands it best?
Both of them! In fact.
Speak softly and carry a big stick
@@Blaze7296 War is about destruction and bringing the absolute worst out of people. Gods of war in IRL mythologies certainly weren't philosophical, especially not about the idea of love. They are described to be brutal, oftentimes making conflict and with other gods. If there was anyone in Norse pantheon who could've preached peace, then it was supposed to be Baldr, but GoW retconned him into angry, savage guy who turned insane because he could not feel anything. And Freya, goddess of love was retconned into broken woman who was forced to wander Midgard because she could not stand (again retconned) Odin and his anger.
@@RebelWvlf You’re not wrong that war is about destruction and bringing out the worst in people. Question is, is that all? Because your interpretation of war deities is too narrow, seemingly based off only Ares.
Because Athena is about the strategic cunning that a commander can bring onto the battlefield. Mars has aspects of masculinity and peace through power. Guan Yu symbolizes valour and brotherhood. Yue Fei is a paragon of patriotism. Cao Cao (yes at one point in history he was) is a symbol of competent governance, and also a poet, calligrapher and literary critic (contrary to your assumption that Gods of War are not philosophical. If anything, because of the nature of their jobs, they tend to spend more time thinking about it). Are any of these negatives?
Tyr makes a beautiful point. The women Kratos & Mimir loved saw the good IN them. They didn’t change them as much as they helped guide the change. Kratos & Mimir still had to make the change themselves. And to want to change, to want to be better, despite their past crimes, is evidence enough that they ARE inherently good. For if they were truly cruel, would they have felt guilt for their actions?
Tyr is really that one homie who became the best therapist in the world after 2 am
This DLC made me wish Kratos, Mimir, and Tyr would start a podcast
Best take on love always comes from HK-47.
Query: Tyr and HK-47 have the same VA?
Hk has a take on love? First ive heard of it.
@@HTH2408 "Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope. Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticule, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds."
Thats hk as we love and adore him. :-) (dont tell him i said that... I happen to value my live... )
@@WarcraftAceThose last few sentences are actually kinda nice
And all this amazing writing is from a free dlc. Keep talking and take our money.
Mimir and Tyr are well deserved brothers Kratos wished had with Deimos i am glad he is not alone in this world
This dude is the personification of “Be prepared for peace, but carry a big stick”
Just three dudes talking about the impact of true love, and somehow it's the rawest and most masculine thing I have ever heard.
Bless you, Týr the Therapist.
Tyr is a god of wisdom as well as war in the Eddas, I expect nothing less.
Bruh I would pay money to see/hear a podcast between these 3 homies
This game is like therapy. But with violence.
Damn this was preached in meditation a lot especially Hindu
I did it for 2 years during COVID and they all thought of focusing on yourself becoming your better self and then you find someone who truly appreciates you for what you are
Not someone who is looking for someone starving for attention. You will attract the wrong person to your wrong persona.and thus it will end in the wrong relationship
I don’t know who is responsible for this dialogue but someone really got into detail
It is said that love is symbolized by fire, as it converts the lover into the beloved, just as fire converts all it touches into itself.
Týr has become norse jesus
Shrooms were hitting just right while playing Ragnarok, and then this conversation came up, and I cried and cried. I swear this convo was engraved onto my soul man
Man, seeing all these clips makes me want to watch Dr. Mick play Vahalla even more each time!
Dr. Mick would have a field day with this. This is literally therapy gold
I KNOW RIGHT!!! I would hope he plays the recues real Tyr mission first tho.@@Dakiens
Tyr and Kratos, Gods of War and Love.
And hope and peace
So they give you an action adventure game, and then give you a Rogue-like mode after you beat the game? Damn, ya'll are eating good.
I’m so glad they brought back Tyr for Valhalla when I found him in Nifilheim I kept telling myself “I really hope we can discover more of tyr in future content” and thank god we did
Am i the only one who wants this dlc to have countless updates maybe add more weapons enemies doors armor and othet stuff even a helios skin where he roasts you in the main game 💀
This holds considerable inspiration and meaning
Damn, that was poetic.
Tyr is right. I've gone through a lot of growth in my real life and I've come up to a very similar conclusion.
Imagine Thor entering Valhalla
Mimir calling Titania and Oberon Scounderels
Writers where cooking with the dlc
Never knew two baldies and one hairy giant make a gud dynamic as bros
I guess Tyr change his occupation from God of War into God of Moral Support aka Tyraphist
that thumbnail is a vibe.
These guys should start a podcast
theres so much therapy in this dlc
The norse god of war, landies & Gentlemen
Its crazy everytime im reminded of this
But Týr is Odin's son
Its crazy how a son of Odin is better than Odin ever would be
Tyr spitting facts all the dlc.
Man I wish thor could have been here
All it takes for a Chad to become a Chap is turning at least one part of yourself around.
However much the writers of these games are getting paid, it's nowhere near enough
If Tyr could regrow his whole arm after Garm ate it, why can’t he get Mimir a new body?
Now I'm wondering about Tyr's love life, if he met someone special in the nine realms or on one of his journeys beyond them.
Idk why, but I'm losing my shit on that thumbnail lmao
I imagine that if she survived, Athena and Tyr would become great friends.
Tyr looks like Jesus Christ a bit.
I honestly would've happily given them much money for this DLC.
I never knew I would ever be schooled about love by nerds and geeks like myself 😅
I'm calling it right now my fan theory is Tyr will end up becoming jesus christ
Everyone here keeps spelling Týr's name wrong. Is Odin haunting the comments section?
I'd figure it's because the good ol QWERTY keyboard doesn't have a ý key. But THAT could absolutely be Odin's doing...
Where was this level of writing for Ragnarok?
Alright now it’s feeling kinda forced… Maybe they’re only getting lovy dubby because they know it stays between them.
I've been thinking this. The love reflected in love songs can be towards ourselves. Think about how you would treat another if you loved them- treat other people like you would yourself, it's not that deep.
Ive never been into romance so thats what i got out of love songs
Rather poor advice for people who are self-loathing which is surprisingly many.
Question, is this the real tyr?
Yes
Love is about sacrifice first, you cannot love without sacrifice something for the other person.
Preachy Old Stiff....
I do love these conversations and the whole way that themes of love and redemption have been handled by these games, but I will *hard* disagree with Tyr on that last point. Love is not about ourselves and I don't think the idea that a better person was "inside [Mimir] all along" is a helpful or healthy stipulation or suggestion. It's cheapening to say that Sigrun's influence on Mimir was really Mimir's influence on Mimir and the definition of love is very literally not about recognising potential in ourselves but in about sacrificing for others.
Tyr makes it sound nice in its ultimate end goal but Mimir's self-reflection was a consequence of love, not love itself.
Look at that alpha and sigma males talking about their feelings...
Gods (or more commonly Goddesses) of both Love and War are not that uncommon in early Afro-Eurasian mythologies, as I understand it. Obviously a shared passion exists between the two domains, but Strategy and Romance are also not dissimilar concepts. The play of two powers against and alongside one another is a meaningful part of both enterprises, and keeping one next to the other in the mythopoetic space simplifies a lot of life's... contradictions.
Love is weird. Never felt this thing once in my entire life, so i have no clue of what they're talking about. Maybe it's something like joy or satisfaction, i don't know. So many weird philosophies put together.
Your first statement pretty much sums it up. Everyone experiences love differently whether they know it or not. In what form it takes is the bigger mystery.
@@StealthTheFoxz Ok, Mimir. 🤣🤣🤣. But seriously, fair enough, i guess.
There are endless things and ways to love beyond just romance. Love can be for your friends, for your parents, for a place, for a wonderful video game. I doubt you’ve never experienced it. (If you truly haven’t, you might possibly be a psychopath? Nothing to be ashamed of, truly, but very worth knowing about yourself if true. A therapist would be the best person to ask.)
Also, if you’ve never been romantically in love, maybe look up the aromantic label? Some ppl, several dear friends of mine included, just don’t experience romantic feelings, and that’s okay :)
@@iiiiitsmagreta1240 Yeah, the concept of romance is just weird, and it sounds like it's just plain bull. I've never been in a relationship in my life, so for me, the whole thing just sounds dumb.
