What a wonderful video! Thank you for sharing your sources. These bonnets truly are a labor of love. I loved the collapsible bonnet you shared.

Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
I initially thought I might make a tutorial but I realized by the time that I finished it that every step of the way involved a decision about either how I would do the next step or what order I would do them in, and it seemed more useful to point people in the direction of other sources, and just document MY choices.
And isn't it wild when that collapsible bonnet flattens for travel? I just love that! Another student used that same method and process to make a flat-pack calash where the ribs were heavyweight trimmer like (like for "weed whackers", but I could find a good picture of that one.

Thank you. I've been hunting information about drawn bonnets on the internet to better understand the origins of a local traditional style of sun bonnet and discovered this and your other great videos. Now subscribed 😊

Welcome and you’re welcome! I’m so excited to hear about your research into local traditional sun bonnets! I’ve just started doing some research into slat bonnets and padded bonnets, which are structurally fascinating. Will you be making video content or writing/blogging about what you discover? No pressure if not, researching for the fun of it is awesome too.

Do it! Miss Philomena did a vlog about making a slightly later (chronologically) shape of this style using wool gauze:
      czcams.com/video/ynkjN-H1-Hc/video.html
She makes construction choices that are informed by the nature of that fabric (very different from taffeta)-hers is worth checking out too, especially if you are thinking of making one and haven’t picked your fabric yet!
