      Ok so good point! I WANT TO MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR…. You can make money in non cdl hotshot. But it is harder and you are handicapped. When you can get your cdl for a grand and a week of your time and make literally 100k more per year. So I guess it’s up to everyone to make there own decision. I shouldn’t have said don’t do non cdl. But after seeing my brothers numbers I got my CDL. Very good point though and thank you.

      I have a 2007 Ford E-450 cab and chassis dually..it has a gas powered 6.8L V-10... Gvwr is 14,050
      I bought it used..
      Trailer is 30' non cdl gooseneck ( 4 wheels- not 8 ) I'm leased on to a hotshot delivery company for now... will go on my own in the future...
      I have a gooseneck ball and a heavy duty 5th wheel... I can haul gooseneck rv's...
      Most of the work (85% ) I've done/ fixed/ replaced myself...( saved tons of $$ )... being a retired A.S.E mechanic, I can fix just about anything mechanical on my setup...
      To start out, I don't recommend buying a $80k truck and a $30k trailer...
      Believe it or not I've only invested $22k on my setup...
      I will post pictures when I'm done on CZcams...!!!
      If anyone is interested on buying a cheap reliable cab and chassis let me know...!!!
      Oh hell, I'll let my secret out...out of 12 trucks I've looked at this one was the best .. I've only had to replace the PCM on it so far...
      I bought it from (drum roll )
      U-HAUL TRUCK SALES..
      Asking price was $7,200 but took it home for $4,950...
      My next truck will be a mid size single axle freightliner or international...
      These pick up trucks are not made to last for everyday use and long run times / hours...
      The newer diesel pickup trucks are junk... transmission on them are junk too...
      The banks love people who can't finish paying for their new trucks due to break downs.. the repo it, re sell it... the banks never lose $$$ but you do if you don't manage your business and equipment...!!!!

    I've been doing this for a lil over a year, I started non-cdl hotshot. Ram 2500 with a 14gn 24+5 mega ramps big tex 10,000 + 15,900 = 25,900. After my 3rd run I could easily tell that there is money to be made and you will make money. But I also learned that I could make double/triple with my cdl. So i stayed with set up and used that to make me the money to get my cdl set up. Simply put, I bought a ram 3500 dually once i connected that to my 14gn trailer It was then considered a cdl set up. 14,000 + 15,900 =29,900. I then jumped on line did the required class time got my certification for the FMSCA, then went and took my written cdl test at DMV General knowledge +combination - no air brakes- automatic only and no fifth wheel restrictions. Passed that then studied some more and waited the required 14 days then went into dmv and took the pre-trip, basic skills and driving test passed all that in my set up and now have my CDL. Now i will use the set up I'm in to earn the money to purchase new trailer. I did and am doing it this way so that I am at zero debt and own it all outright. Now i have 1 non-cdl set up and soon will have 1 cdl set up. Then i will use my profits to buy another set up at that point then i will hire a driver. From there i will use profits to buy an "used" semi and trailer and then go back in and take cdl tests for air brakes, standard, and fifth wheel. This is assuming no problems and will probably take 3-5 years to reach point of purchase of Semi/trailer. Then i will just repeat and have keep non cdl, cdl truck, and cdl semi and keep expanding.

      Wait hold on brother, how did you take you choose which sections of the CDL test you took? Because I recently took my permit test which I failed by a few points.. but I had to do every section. Like they didn't tell me I could do it like this.

    • @kiddgroovy
      @kiddgroovy Před rokem +1

      Do you mind giving a more detailed outline on how you went to the DMV and got your CDL with a dually truck and trailer? Because I was under the impression that you had to use a semi-truck to take the test. I thought when you take the test with your truck you have to point at specific parts of the truck and state their function, are you literally doing this with your dually truck? Does the test proctor have a separate testing sheet for dually trucks? Do I literally just tell them I want to do hotshot? Because I was explaining to one of the DMV employees what I wanted to do a few months before I took my permit test and he still said I had to take the full test, or is it that you can choose which sections to take for the actual license? I guess that's where I'm confused. You say written test, are you referring to the permit test? Or the CDL license test? Also how much money you reckon I need to start all this? I currently have 10k and a 740 credit score. I flip cars from the iaa and copart car auctions to make money. I only have a public account so it's taking a little longer plus car sales are a little slow right now. But I would really like to stay connected with you man. It sounds like you want exactly what I want! An empire!

    • @yrbuddy77
      @yrbuddy77 Před rokem

      @@kiddgroovy So when you went into dmv and filled out the application you should have had to check off what you wanted. Such as Interstate non-excepted, air brakes, combinations, doubles triples ect. So sounds like you checked all endorsements. So it's all in the details. What state you in? Essentially you only select the tests representative of/for class of vehicle you want to drive. so the only endorsement i needed was the combination endorsement checked off.
