  • Conservative MP Phillip Lee has quit the Tories, dramatically crossing the floor of the Commons while Boris Johnson addressed MPs.

      @@Billy2011C A coup is when someone makes a sudden and decisive change of government, either illegally or by force.
      Stopping parliament, so that MP's cannot speak on behalf of their constituents, only to force through legislation -- is a coup by definition. Boris forcing prorogation of parliament in this context is nothing but a coup to take control and ignore all other MP's within the house.

      Well, you really have to consider what you are being asked to vote for - Brexit referendum was about settling Tory divisions and preventing the loss of a few seats to UKIP. It was a bluff by the government, you were never really meant to vote Leave. And the ones who did want you to vote leave also promised things that weren't really on offer - all the economical advantages of the EU without political union. That was never going to happen. So instead we will probably wind up with some manner of fudged Brexit where we pretend we got the freedom we wanted because our ego makes it hard to admit we were duped but if we are honest with ourselves is nothing like what was on the prospectus.
