- The sheer numbers involved in raising a rhino calf are staggering: a young rhino can drink up to seven gallons of milk a day - which means the mom needs up to 110 pounds of grass each day to sustain herself.

Lots of people don't realize it, but Indian rhinos are nearly as big as White Rhinos (5-10% smaller on average weight) and much larger than Black Rhinos. Not to mention, their conservation story is one to be shared throughout from 75 in 1905 to more than 3200 today, all this while battling poaching for their horn.
Fourhundred pounds of cuteness
eko pranata absolutely!
Let's just take a moment to appreciate the govt for putting in the effort to increase the counts of these great species from 75' to 3200 today . And From few of Asiatic lions to More than 600-700 today. Same goes Bengal Tigers too. I wish them more luck in the future in this mission.
Baby Rhinos are so adorable. Thanks, Smithsonian Channel.👍👍👍
They sort of remind me of giant armadillos.
They are actually related.

Rani and Raja in India are usually considered in stories as lovers not as mother and son 😉😝
Must have been some confusion. Indian sanctuary officers are generally way good at naming them

At 01:49 I hope those flies swarming are a common thing for Rhino's, and that their body armor prevents them from having to deal with the nuisance. Got me itchy as soon as I noticed them :(
A market for Rhino milk just got created.
EFAP anyone! 🦏🥛
Growing 4 pounds a day 😳
Lagbhag 1.5 kilo
@@benefactor4309 around 2 kilos
Creatures whose horns are sold for $70,000 a kilogram (according to a TV program) should not be doomed to extinction. But I myself ...
What is with the narrator audio!? Lol is this a deleted scene from 2001?
Do they get splinters on their tongues from licking the salt wood
Anønymøus Víds no, they have thick lips and youngest that allow them to eat tough plants
What are all those flies under the rhino? Looks like a wasps nest! Gross! Beautiful animals.

Sadly, their species is on the brink of extinction now. Only a few of them are left. 😔😔
Nope Indian Government is doing great efforts for saving them, In 20 th century there were only 200 One horn rhinos left... But with strict protection and management now their population has reached to 3500+ .
You can visit WWF website for Numbers....
75 to 3500
Not in india, here they will further increase❤❤❤
Did you know that humans are the only animal on earth that drinks another babies' (animals') milk?
And the only ones who keep drinking it when they are adults

Well i m a vegetarian from india, we have thousand yr old culture where cow were considered like a part of family . Being a majority vegetarian society we depend on milk and butter. Just like a mother provide milk to infants cow provide it to us . Thats why we call it gau mata(mother) . The village i come from they have bond with their cows and buffalos ,they sense their emotions thats why hindus dont eat beef. How can we eat something which has feed our infants and us.
@@Nk-fu1yn The way you do it is sacred and beautiful. 🙏🏼
My comment was aimed more towards big agricultural companies, and how they farm and provide milk across the world.
The cows are encaged all day being milked, but before that they are artificially inseminated, with a humans ARM repeatedly over the course of their miserable soon to end life, until they are exhausted and spent, unable to produce any more milk, then they are cut up into pieces and shipped off for our (or our dogs?) consumption. Oh and they have their beautiful babies taken away from her at birth, the females are bred to live the same miserable life as their mums, the males are mainly nail gunned and disposed of, some might be lucky enough to become veal 😒
Sorry for rant, and I'm also a hypocrite because I'm not even vegan!
Just spreading an inconvenient truth. 🙏🏼
@@Nk-fu1yn Statistically false. No, India is not even close to being a vegetarian society.
Looks like Rhinos have an easy life..
@Carla Cristina da Silva Almeida oh..=(
Their horns made excellent home decor.
they dont even look real. I want there to be more rhinos and less people
