  • In a bid to restore forests and help fight climate change, Flash Forest is a Canadian start-up with an aim to plant 1 billion trees by 2028, using drones and aerial mapping. “There are a lot of different attempts to tackle reforestation,” says Flash Forest co-founder and chief strategy officer Angelique Ahlstrom. “But despite all of them, they’re still failing, with a net loss of 7 billion trees every year.” According to the company, their drones can plant trees ten times faster than humans, with the added benefit of being able to reach difficult terrain. For CNN’s Tech for Good, Kristie Lu Stout talks to Flash Forest co-founder Bryce Jones about the technology being used to carry out reforestation at scale.
