- This is the Harbor Freight Tools/Pittsburgh Blind Hole Bearing Puller Set (Item 95987). It is listed on the Harbor Freight site as "5 Piece Slide Hammer And Bearing Puller Set". The regular price was about $70. But with sale price and coupon, I got it for $45. It did a good job of removing a pilot bearing from a treadmill roller. It would have probably come out easier if I could have somehow clamped the roller down.

This is exactly the kind of video I was looking for. Thank you. Been watching for many years. 👍🏻
Awesome. Just bought one for $49.99 - 20%. Worked great on the treadmill bearings. Mine were tight. Had to hold it vertical to add gravity to the force.
Thanks for taking the time to show how this works. This answered quite a few questions i had.
It's a cool tool. Expensive. But I have used it a few times. Nice to have.
If you keep the piece in the bearing snug up to the other side of the bearing it would have come out in half as many hammering pulls.
John Dozier
Thanks for the info! Now I know what I need to get to change a pilot bearing🙋
Great vid, thanks for the demonstration, am looking to do this, this coming weekend on the project bike.
Cool, it's the same for bushings then. My grandson has a 2010 Milan with a seal leak caused by the bad bushings Ford & Mercury install for the half shaft... Thanks for the video, I'll run up to Harbor Freight..
Great set
That's great but what do you have for a two inch needle bearing?
Solid my dude! Thanks!!!
I wonder if this would pull a needle bearing race out as well?
long as he got it out thats all that mattwrs. good job
Cool tool, thanks for the demonstration. One question tough. Have the inner ring of the bearing ever separeted on you with this tool? Is that a problem?
I haven't had issues. If the bearing were glued in, it might be an issue.
In some cases you can also hammer on the mandrel from the other side, it'll be easier to apply a lot of force that way than by using the slide hammer.
Great video!!!
Thank you!
Nice thanks for the viedo
GOOD JOB ***** DO THEY HAVE THE BIGGER SIDE THEN 3 BLS SLIDE HUMMER ? THANKS.
I don't think Harbor Freight sells one, but there are 10lb slide hammers out there.
Can it also pull crank bb bearings?
RJ, very good video. I am researching how to pull a bearing out a procon pump.I can get about 1.25/lb. for yellow brass. .22/lb. if not stripped of steel and plastic parts.
These seem more appropriate for bikes. Even on AMazon these mandrel type bearing pullers arent rugged enough for flywheel type bearings after the first use. WHat do you think?
I don't think I have used it on a bike yet. :D
Does anyone know the thread of the slide hammer rod itself? And also the female adapter on the end?
Wow didn't know HFT had one of those.
hi just a question do you think it would pull a race out of a peddle that blew apart ??
Dunno. Not even sure the race is made to be pulled out.
I got the set, did as you said. I had to call king Kong to pop it. I'd almost given up on the treadmill bearing for my Sole treadmill. But it did the trick.
It could be on yours, the bearing was loctited in.
@@RJTheBikeGuy Hope not they didn't use loctite. I've got a second treadmill roller that needs another bearing removed. So I'll have a spare if this new bearing goes bad. It's seems it was really pressed in. I would recommended getting a bearing puller with a 5 lbs slide weight verses the 3 lb slide for better throw weight on the bearing. Again thanks a lot for the tip. You saved money some big doe.
@@RIchardDavidson007 The roller in the video was from a Sole F85. I had a roller from a Horizon, and never got that bearing out. I suspect it was put in with heavy duty Loctite.
I just bought this same one brand new from eBay, shipping from the USA. While harbor freight's website says $74.99 plus tax
Ooouuhhh FANCY!!
thanks
Will this work on removing washing machine bearing you think?
+mc mc Maybe.
Is there any chance that i can use this puller set to remove the valve seat from a cylinder head..????
I have no idea. Sorry.
I"ll "Go ahead" and buy it. :)
Go ahead!
And then you just go ahead and comment here, give your thoughts then go ahead and click send.
Mine had too big a range between pullers. Ended up collapsing the fingers that extended past the internal ball bearing that expands the fingers. The tool could not stay on the inner race without slipping out. Failed to function for me.. It would have helped if the fingers had s step instead of the rounded edge that catches the inner race.
Brought it back and purchased proper industrial tools made by OTC. Yup they were 5 times the cost but they worked!
v good
What did you use to install the new bearing?
+Joe Guzman A hammer. I just softly tapped the bearing in by tapping the outer edge. Do not tap the inner ring as that can damage the bearings. You can also take a big socket that is a larger diameter then the bearing, place it with the flat side against the bearing and tap it with a hammer to drive the bearing in.
Oh nice, this should work well with my BMW clutch pilot bearing, and having to not buy the BMW tool
Will that work on a VW bug read bearing
Sorry, I have no idea. I don't know how that is set up.
what an arkane tool ;))
Is it any good for bicycle use?
I have used it a couple times.
can i use this tool to remove a race?
I think you'd be better off asking Hitler or Stalin.
I bought one of these made in China bearing pullers to pull out a bushing and it kept slipping because the feet have a rounded edge.
I haven't had any issues with it.
Grate
First set I bought one of the arms broke on the first try. I did buy a second set and the same thing happened. The metallurgy is just not there.

If you did it the way shown in this vid, you did it wrong. The collet is supposed to fit very snug and be TIGHT inside the bearing before pulling it out. My set has been in use for 10 years and it was made in China too.
quanto costa il set valigeta grazie dove si puo comprare ciao
It costs about $75 (cheaper with a coupon) and you can get it at harborfreight.com.
What is the smallest size bearing it can handle... 1/2" ? Thanks!
Not sure. The manual is here: manuals.harborfreight.com/manuals/62000-62999/62601.pdf
There are specs there.
Looks suspiciously like a Sealey AK714 costing considerably more in UK.
Wow, yes £115 which is $150. One would *hope* the Sealey one has been copied by other manufacturers and they don't come from the same factory.
Heat the surface a little first. Should come off in three blows.
😎
can I get it
I want order from india
20.00 at amazon..just for everyones information
+Cliff Whitaker That's a great price. I checked, and it is with $18.50 shipping...ouch. I use this thing every once in a while. Nice to have.
+RJ The Bike Guy I bought one for 90, was 159. But that has more scaled bearing hole. If needed it can even removed a typical BB30 bearings from the frame.
It does not work for motorcycles bearings because of the spacers between the them. There is noting to grip as the inner bearings and spacers are one smooth continuous surface.
I am guessing there is some method to get them out. And I am guess not all motorcycle bearings are the same.
Amazon has it for $35
Where to buy in the Phillipines
I don't live in the Phillipines. How would I know.
You totally used it wrong to remove that bearing, They are not supposed to slide inside the bearing like that.
He didn't watch a CZcams vid first that showed how to use it. The collet should just "barely" get through, then should be TIGHTENED inside the bearing NOT LOOSE as was shown, then the slide hammer attached and used. I think the first collet he picked up and rejected was the correct one. He needed to remove the collet expander first. It would have been just right to push through, then expand and tighten. No sloppy fit allowed when using a pilot bearing puller, you will damage the collet AND the bearing can be yanked to pieces, leaving the outer race still inside the blind hole.
Yes i do my Bearing tool tight it as to places to put spanners on.
How else would you get a bearing out that has no flange hanging off?
order kais e karneka
Cara yang salah
i just wont say it
fuck man ive fucked up a roller bearing so bad the outer case is stuck in the rear diff case and now ive fucked it up past the point of using this tool whoch no doubt prob would of worked before i destroy the lip that it could have grabbed on too
crack the outer race with a sharp cold chisel easily. Make sure you have safety glasses on though.
Lo compra uno y no funcionan como lo demuestra ya me paso o se rompe

I have used several professional sets like this and have over thirty years as a professional Maint tech. I needed to pull the bearings from my two motorcycle wheels. This kit is not worth the effort. The fixtures are not hardened to any extent. They bent and distorted before any bearing could be removed. Plus the slide hammer is much too light for the size Jess rings they would be pulling.
Why are you breathing so heavy>
It's just sounds that way since the camera was so close to my face.
He as a good woman at home.
your breathing troubles me
The camera is next to my face. I actually run marathons for fun.
Hey you need to check your lungs with doctor.
i think he was trying to control his breathing for the camera
Not using it correctly chap
Why do you say "go ahead" in nearly every sentence? Go ahead and take this out, go ahead and put this in?
Go ahead and stop saying go ahead dude!
And yeah you have no idea how that tool works!
Why don't you make a video of how it works then? Why be so critical. I found this to be a very helpful video.
