She's not a hero you know that right? Just a cop and she can't just drop everything to help them like the guy wanted too. It's called being realistic. Like she said there's nothing more they can do as cops.
Everyone have to make End Meets. If I have to help homeless myself I would probably be more debt than I am right now as someone have to Pay Uncle Sam and IRS.
They're talking about things like fire code, the hard cap on the number of people that can be in a building. The state doesn't say "only X people can sleep here because it's a shelter." And contextually, this must be an atypically cold winter night in California, so the shelters are all much more slammed than usual, which is why they can't find another spot.
True story, this one officer, other resource groups and myself got involved with a couple and their child stranded from another state, they too were told no space, places was full, but we never gave up and made sure they wasn't gonna spend another night on the streets. They were blessed to stay in a hotel that night, and the next day, the resource group got them some plane/bus tickets to go back home. And I thank God for it all. And to others going through similar situations, keep praying God will see you through. He has not forgotten about you ❤
She would have only been arrested if she resisted or caused a scene, which she didnt. Nor would she have been arrested for child endangerment as there are plenty of homeless children. It aint a sad truth if it isnt true. If she stayed calm, as she did, she never would be at risk of arrest.
@bangupzzz2403 maybe it varies place to place and cop to cop, non of the police I know in my hometown would arrest her in this situation but big cities are different
@@pheonixchica5518 the first time i had a friend get beaten by the police for no reason was in middle school, they sicked dogs on an eight grader who was accused of stealing a bottle of alcohol during his lunch break. After his assault was over and his leg was shredded they found no evidence of theft on him. Incidents like that are why ill never trust law enforcement in my life and why im so critical of copaganda shows
This is something most people should be aware of by now. As sad as it is, where I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, I asked my mom where the homeless go in the Winter? She said that they stay here, and just have to be first call at our few shelters. (Our best shelters maybe have 100 beds, I could be wrong.) What I do know for sure is that I’ve seen the same men holding up signs with fewer and fewer fingers every year.
I've volunteered before. I can guarantee that shelters and do turn people away. There are max occupancy laws. About the only time they break it is when it's bitterly cold out and the cops willingly look the other way.
Last summer I saw a young man sitting downtown with a tent and some other bags. He had been driven 3 hours to my small town and dumped. He had no family, no money, no shelter, nothing. Luckily my town has 2 homeless shelters. I called the one for young people. They did not have any room BUT they found another place for him to stay in another part of the state.
@sunnyday4055 You're gonna get genocided unless the hamas surrenders and returns the hostages. You talk like you have leverage. You have nothing. No arab has ever defeated the Israelis. Imagine if the Palestinians had joined forces with the Israelis instead of voting for the hamas. Oh, well. The hamas said they wanted to exterminate the jews. Now they beg for a cease-fire.
The amount of money that the U.S gives away in forgin aid is so miniscule compared to the amount the government makes its practcly nothing. Government corruption and people lobbying against homeless are the reason for the homeless crisis, not the fractions of cents per dollar we give to other struggling countries
No one is sending money to Ukraine or Israel, military equipment that has been sitting in warehouses for decades is being sent, I wish people wound understand that
That child should be under state custody if he cant be sheltered… Perhaps it would have been kinder to “arrest” the mother than to leave her out for the night.
My friend died on the streets because he didn't want to leave the city.a man i knew would give homeless people a job,he found my friend a tiny house in the country side, he said no.he died about 2yrs ago, some people do love the streets.
Rookie never thought it was a game. He was genuinely trying to find help for them. Just goes to show you, the world doesn't care if you exist if you're homeless.
Maybe there should be a priority system. Women with children get beds first, and the addicts can sleep in the alley. The addicts choose to be homeless.
It's not as simple as giving the mom a minor charge and having her sleep in jail for the night. The issue is she's got a kid and if she gets arrested and no relatives can take the kid, kid's gonna go to foster care and it's gonna be a mess for the mom to get her kid back even if she finds a new place to live. And most parents would rather keep their kids at all cost because you never know what kind of foster home kids end up in (optimistically, a nice one; statistically, not a nice one). Sadly, until she can find shelter with a friend or family or a homeless shelter has an opening, they gotta sleep rough.
And what's crazy is someone (more than one actually) has enough money to make a substantial dent in the number of homeless people in so many cities... but instead space... or greed because we all know the most wealthy family that has pretty much ALWAYS been multibillionaires just don't want to set aside a few million to build up homeless solutions (ie a hotel/apartment type thing where they have to meet certain criteria to stay which would be setting them up for a life of their own). But again... nah... It's my money and I'm going to keep it no matter what, even in the face of starving children in America and their dying parents.
Germany: Daily social welfare payment of 25 €. Tripled on Friday. Many cities offer free showers in the public pools. If you need sleeping bags/tent/camping stuff, it gets provided. Lastly: If you want to go back on live in housing, you just go to the townhall of a town, saying: "I'm homeless and need an apartment". The municipals are responsible to provide this. No luxuries but a roof, a small bath and a kitchenette.
What gets me is there's all kinds of buildings sitting around empty why is it the city have money for this n that but none to put beds in the rooms a kitchen where they can have some breakfast before going out.of course there will be stipulations that come along with it.even a couple of buildings for wemen with childern 🙏
Its a pretty easy thing to solve. The city just has to buy a house and dedicate it to homeless people without addiction. 1-2 bathrooms, acsess to a shared computer for thoose who want to put in job applications and beds/matresses. They need to separate the people with addiction, because they steal and lay needles arround. They should rather go to a rehab facility first.
I may sound like a piece of crap for saying this. But I would go to the local Walmart purchase a tent and two inflatable mattresses with bedding. I know it’s not the best fix but it’s a lot better than sleeping on the actual street. And it might be a more of a long-term solution. Mind you I’m saying this, as someone who actually had to sleep out of their tent at one point as I was technically homeless … I say technically because I own a car and I had a tent… a lot of people would say that I wasn’t truly homeless. I have a car and a tent… I had to live out of storage unit at some point… it wasn’t technically legal, but… they didn’t start cracking down on it until 2010… thankfully, I was able to some roommates I could move in with…😢
I've been homeless for weeks and out of shelters it's basically a rotation. Right now I'm suffering from homelessness and the only saving Grace I have right now is that I have a girlfriend who has a mother that is letting me sleep here. This is a complete effed up scene but it does show you what's wrong with America. We spend billions of dollars on the military budget and let Congress shut down while they still get paid. Instead of selling the homeless issue. And paying people a living wage and getting them the help they need instead of incarcerating them.
I used to get a hotel room for the homeless in my city during winter, but those asshole big hotels took over and put all tbe little ones out of business, and those big hotels dpnt allow people to pay on behalf of others if the homeless person looks unkept
Women and families are so difficult to place😢 so few spaces as most are for men for some reason. They can call Child Protective Services as they may be able to fund emergency placement.
all the people saying "arrest her for something minor to hold her over night"... cps is called for her child and then she spends a lengthy battle with the court trying to get her child back before the state literally traffics that child into adoption.... all cause no shelters would take them in...
he could have taken her to the precinct for the night. it has been done before but unfortunately he would have to get creative without acs getting involved

And they did this right around Christmas.
To everyone who ever bought me a hotel room to sleep and shower bless you
This scene is sadly so true across the States now .
I’m homeless and I have gone thru the struggle of not being able to have a bed in a shelter for 2 years now
Try getting a job as Security as WorkSouce as program for that especially in July.
@@rollinia7770 well it’s not just me whose homeless. It’s also my fiancé. We both need a safe place to live before we give up our food stamps and get a conventional job.

go to the ER and tell them you have a cough, then sleep in the waiting room
If i became homeless i would give my kids up i love then dearly but their health is more important than my ego
We say "there should be more beds" and then turn around and complain about people with signs on the street corner. We say "someone should help them" and deride anyone who dares to show they have a heart. We as a culture choose to let these things happen to our most vulnerable, and its so cruel and so casual.
"we cant find beds for all of them" you can and you will.
Lol what they gonna do spawn beds ?
No they need to raise money and build more shelters

She's cold hearted. They could have found something for those two. Homelessness is a horrible problem in this country. I really hated her lack of compassion.
She’s not. They can’t leave the city for it because they are still on duty.
Remember if a character makes you mad, then she/he is a good character
She's not a hero you know that right? Just a cop and she can't just drop everything to help them like the guy wanted too. It's called being realistic. Like she said there's nothing more they can do as cops.
Everyone have to make End Meets. If I have to help homeless myself I would probably be more debt than I am right now as someone have to Pay Uncle Sam and IRS.
Look how great this county treats they're own😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember folks, the key line in this short is "state law prohibits us"..... our government no longer serves us.....
They're talking about things like fire code, the hard cap on the number of people that can be in a building. The state doesn't say "only X people can sleep here because it's a shelter."
And contextually, this must be an atypically cold winter night in California, so the shelters are all much more slammed than usual, which is why they can't find another spot.
He has not forgotten about you ❤
Show name: the rookie
Umm it’s actually called better call saul and the lady there is called Suzan Ericsen! A former District Attorney from Albuquerque !
Sometimes this show has really good acting and then you have these moments
So many homeless in New York but they got beds money for people who don't even contribute to it's society
The only way to win the game is not to play - Kevin Flynn
Hear me out.. pay for a hotel
For them ....
that’s expensive. and not always feasible
Man season 1 of the Rookie was the best.
unrealistic she would have bin arrested for trustpassing and child endangerment child be taken away that the sad reality this is fake af
She would have only been arrested if she resisted or caused a scene, which she didnt. Nor would she have been arrested for child endangerment as there are plenty of homeless children. It aint a sad truth if it isnt true. If she stayed calm, as she did, she never would be at risk of arrest.

It’s just a program but I know these things happen and my heart just sank from the thought of an innocent kid going g through this.😢 💔
But let’s keep sending money overseas….
This is something most people should be aware of by now.
As sad as it is, where I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, I asked my mom where the homeless go in the Winter?
She said that they stay here, and just have to be first call at our few shelters. (Our best shelters maybe have 100 beds, I could be wrong.)
What I do know for sure is that I’ve seen the same men holding up signs with fewer and fewer fingers every year.
Shelter doesn’t turn people away
I've volunteered before. I can guarantee that shelters and do turn people away. There are max occupancy laws. About the only time they break it is when it's bitterly cold out and the cops willingly look the other way.
They do, all the time. It's literally the reality of homelessness.
Wtf are u talking about😂
Even with a motel voucher in Los Angeles there no winter shelfter for 2 location open up in Los Angeles.
yes they do? have you ever stayed in a shelter my guy?
Last summer I saw a young man sitting downtown with a tent and some other bags. He had been driven 3 hours to my small town and dumped.
He had no family, no money, no shelter, nothing.
Luckily my town has 2 homeless shelters. I called the one for young people. They did not have any room BUT they found another place for him to stay in another part of the state.
THIS IS WHY WE MUST PUT AMERICANS FIRST!
Good cops god bless and help them
60, 000 homeless and were worrying about Palestine and the Ukraine our government is a joke
Yh maybe stop funding a genocidal country in the middle of some far away land, and put the money were it should be instead
You are giving trillions to israel and funding their occupance of Palestinian lands. You are not worried about palestine you are worried about israel.
The amount of money that the U.S gives away in forgin aid is so miniscule compared to the amount the government makes its practcly nothing. Government corruption and people lobbying against homeless are the reason for the homeless crisis, not the fractions of cents per dollar we give to other struggling countries
No one is sending money to Ukraine or Israel, military equipment that has been sitting in warehouses for decades is being sent, I wish people wound understand that
That child should be under state custody if he cant be sheltered…
Perhaps it would have been kinder to “arrest” the mother than to leave her out for the night.
Kids deserve better, I'd take them in it's just sad.

I love the Rookie and this Episode hit me Hard being a Homeless man myself.
Sometimes you have to put up with a lot to protect your child things do get better.
Such a good episode
My friend died on the streets because he didn't want to leave the city.a man i knew would give homeless people a job,he found my friend a tiny house in the country side, he said no.he died about 2yrs ago, some people do love the streets.
i wish that he would’ve let them stay with him
Rookie never thought it was a game. He was genuinely trying to find help for them.
Just goes to show you, the world doesn't care if you exist if you're homeless.
Its sad how often people in real life will purposely get themselves arrested just to have somewhere to sleep.
This is why I get angry when people sneer at the homeless and ask why they aren’t staying in a shelter, it is RARELY that simple.
Blame Newsom for that
'Mean'while, that huge heated lobby stays empty 🤷♀️
& Churches are no longer able to help due to Code Enforcement 🤦♀️
it be ya own ppl 😂😂
Maybe there should be a priority system. Women with children get beds first, and the addicts can sleep in the alley. The addicts choose to be homeless.
bend over backwards for a single mother but leave thousands of vets out in the cold the world needs to get its priority's right .
I was expecting him to let them stay at the station not to have the mom killed

Nolan took them to his house for the night and helped her get ahold of family.
Why u put the 90s sitcom filter on this😂😂
This is how my mom started taking in homeless women and children. God has protected us in our endeavors. All ended up in their homes.
For once I actually need the paragraph guy… Dude where are you???
Cps would have been involved and taken that child.
“Well I guess we can take them to prison?”
Reality. There’s got to be better solutions.
At this point I’ll just go and book a room for them at a hotel for the night and give them my number until they sort out a bed.
i know in my area everyone is only one paycheque away from being on the streets in the same situation , ~especially~ those of us with kids …
It's sad in real life they refuse citizens a place but if you are illegal you get a place, money, food it's sickening
My gorgeous cousin ebby🥰
Something tells me he takes them in
A lot of yall have never watched the rookie and it shows
