When I was younger, I used to not be myself at work, church or school because I felt that people were always judging me and watching my every move, and I cared about other people's opinions about me. Now that I am older, I stopped caring what other people thought and say about me and I am true to myself because life is way too short to be worrying and caring about what other people have to say about you and I wasn't put on this earth to entertain or please people.

Lonnie is right. In the workplace there ARE certain boundaries you should adhere to. It's a drag some times but it's a reality.
One of my old managers hired me partially because we clicked the first few second that she was interviewing me. I was also being genuinely honest with my answers and wasn't lying about anything. After the interview, she told me that she liked my attitude, and I was hired. Always be yourself in whatever circumstances you are in, because the right people will appreciate you.

I would say I'm not my full self at work. I'm quiet in general but I don't open up to my co workers or tell them much when they ask me questions. I'm not much of a people person. I'm just there for the money. don't really care much about making friends at work

Last year my mum got fired from her job. Don't get me wrong, she deserved to get fired. The problem is that it was someone who she considered her friend at work that reported her. She was so shocked and finally realized that you can't have friends at work. Just keep personal life separate from business.

Not many of us is ourself in the workforce. We are expected to be professional by showing respect, using proper language, dress appropriate and helping our co-workers. Of course we should be like that all the time but not many of us go home and act like that.
