Beginner slow wheelies 1st day

  • This is me practicing slow wheelies for the first time. I'm trying to get the feel for the balance point. The bike's a '93 CBR600. Since the video, I have taken off the instrument panel, so it won't keep getting messed up, and it looks a lot better. Any tips or advice would be great. I don't even bother going fast while doing a wheelie, because I think slow controlled wheelies are cooler, and better to learn on. Plus I'm not even old enough to ride on the street, and parking lots aren't that big. Also, I want to compete when I get good, and I'll need to know slow wheelies more than fast ones. That was my third crash that day, but the bike's alright, and I am too since I was wearing gear. I also have an Icon spine protector under the Alpine jacket. And I'll have more videos up later of progress.

    As a dad myself, I laugh when my kids have scary situations to let them know "you don't need to panic, everything is OK... keep going!"
    Maybe the "drag it" advice wasn't great but it's better than being an overprotective neurotic yuppy parent that panics when their kid gets a scrape and make em live in a plastic bubble!

    Im guessing the negative comments about the mate laughing are non british. In Britain us Brits tend not to give a flying F%$^ if we get laughed at, its banter and fun really, even if its a stranger tbh. I'd rather have my mate laughing at me, then running over like a lil slag screaming 'o my god o my god are you ok. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it, just stick with it blah blah blah' like a weird ass male cheerleader.

    Hey Sam, though you are not planning on doing fast/long wheelies, you need a much longer distance to effectively practice. You may not realize it but you are spending a lot of your thoughts on how short that runoff area is. longer piece of road makes a massive difference it also means you can try hold it at balance point 4 or 5 times before having to worry about slowing down and turning around breaking your focus.

    omg people are so dumb.
    all the hate everytime for NO reason ...
    if u fall with a BMX Bicycle no one woudl comment shit.
    if u try backflip u will fall as a beginner, no one would blame u.
    i fu try to hanky sack and the hacky sack falls down no one would talk shit.
    But if u try to have fun on a motocycle (wheelie or whatever)
    people start to say u should have died and u are stupid.
    whats wrong with this people?
    everyone should do what he likes as long as u dont hurt anyone else.
    Peace think about it.

    • @REM44MAG
      @REM44MAG Před 9 lety +1

      Exactly what I was think. What's with all the hate on the beginners trying to learn to stunt. Even if you can do a decent wheelie half the pros will hate on you and say you're shit. That fucking yut ughhh video pisses me off, especially because I can't even wheelie as long as that guy on the 750. So what if he was hustling people, where the fuck are the stunt schools at, why dont they offer some kind of lessons instead of critism? Fucking assholes.

  • @christophergang4683
    @christophergang4683 Před 9 lety

    everyone's hating but this is realistically the best scenario to learn.. private road, bike designed for stunting..and protective gear.. what do you guys think people just "know" how to wheelie.

  • @joshbowman2934
    @joshbowman2934 Před 9 lety +3

    Looks to be good beginner wheelie to me.
    Don't push it tho. Start small. It's better to have a comfort zone than to be over my head.
    To me 2nd and third gear wheelies are easier than first gear.
    So pick up the front wheel then chase it with the throttle. Always have your foot resting on the back break. Sit towards the back of the seat. Chasing ( power wheelies) with a clutch up is was less risky than looking for that balance point for beginners.

  • @lpdemolition
    @lpdemolition Před 13 lety

    Great job for practicing in the right area with the right gear. I think the way to learn is just like this. If it was a perfect world, a dirt bike would be best for stunt riding practice as the parts are cheaper and dirt is a bit more forgiving. Get the dirt bike down, then practice on areas like this. But I give you props for doing it right with what you have.

    @Belicose777 Před 7 lety

    What's so bad about the cameraman laughing? We're almost wired to find little falls funny.
    My point is the bike has a wheelie bar and an engine case cage so the bike isn't damaged and he's wearing all the gear. A fall like that doesn't hurt very much and is actually very valuable in understanding how far is too far. It's taking me longer to learn slow wheelies because I'm so cautious. It's a thin line between balance point and looping.

  • @DavidDoesntLikeDogs
    @DavidDoesntLikeDogs Před 11 lety

    That's what I was trying to say. You can use a dirtbike as a practice bike because most people would rather not drop a bike like this one. As far as posture goes, crorch rockets are unique but a dirtbike is the only other bike that you sit up on top of and lean slightly forward on. It's not exactly the same but it's closer than anything else that's on the cheaper side.

    no roll along at slow speed (10-20-30kmph) pull clutch in, rev up maybe 2-3-4 rpm higher then it should be and drop clutch but hold throttle in one position when you let the clutch out. that way you can decide to power on or off as the bike comes up. slowly work on getting slower and giving more RPM and eventually you find perfect mix for your bike

    good decisions on gear, wheelie bar etc...for advice like you asked...if your not used to the balance point, cover the brake with your right foot and put your left knee on the seat...you'll be able to see in front of you better which will make you more comfortable/confident. Also, i know u want to clutch it up to get it up quick and be able to stay slow and controlled, but try a power wheelie in 1st (or probs second if you feel comfortable) and just find the balance point. Confidence 1st...

    If u brake it´ll go down and when it comes up again do what you already did.
