"Nagsisimula pa lang tayo, tuloy-tuloy ang ating gagawin,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. stressed during the town hall consultation with farmers and fisherfolk of Occidental Mindoro on April 23, 2024.
Various issues were raised during the consultation, including the rising prices of onion and rice which have been a burden for many farmers. In response, the President outlined plans to mitigate these challenges, promising targeted interventions and support measures to stabilize prices and ensure the viability of agricultural production.
The discussion also touched upon the need for livestock vaccines to combat swine flu in the Philippines. The Chief Executive assured the government's commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of livestock, including the provision of necessary vaccines to prevent the spread of diseases.
Additionally, the Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Credit Policy Council (DA ACPC) program for tuna fisherfolk was highlighted as a vital initiative to support the fisheries sector. The program aims to provide financial assistance and capacity-building initiatives to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of tuna fishing operations.
Expressing gratitude for the active participation of the community, the President urged them not to hesitate in communicating their needs to the national government.
"Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat at sana po huwag kayong magsawa sa pag-abiso sa amin sa national government kung ano pa ang pangangailangan ninyo, nandito po kaming lahat,” President Marcos Jr. ended in his remarks.
