    I’ve found placing mushrooms in an airtight container lined well with absorbent paper towel helps keep them fresh for up to 3 weeks. Had some blue oyster for dinner last night that I harvested 17 days ago and the were still firm and fresh

      Oml Ik this was 2 years ago but when you do that do you make the paper towels damp first?

    • @elizabethshannon9964
      @elizabethshannon9964 Před 8 měsíci

      @@Little.Froggie no, use dry ones. It helps absorb the moisture given off by the mushrooms. By avoiding excess moisture you extend the shelf life. If they become too wet change them out for fresh ones

    Hello!
    First off, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your specialized mycology content! I've been watching for sometime and love that you often use science backed data rather than simply your personal experience, yet still keep it easy to digest.
    I'm actually writing to see if you would engage in some light consulting work; I was hoping I could get some advice on restructuring my facility. If you're open to a preliminary chat, please let me know.

    Been asking everyone. How do you get constant flushes? Please do a video on this. I am stuck at this. I do everything on a weekly cycle, spawn, inoculate, incubate and transfer into fruiting chamber but the they just sit there. Even ones that i placed in the fruiting chamber 4 weeks ago, 3 weeks ago, 2 weeks ago and nothing. Proper fruiting parameters.

    • @GroCycleTV
      @GroCycleTV  Před 3 lety +1

      That's unusual...if everything is healthy and all substrate, spawn and growing conditions are good then Oyster mushrooms will usually just start fruiting after full colonisation and when exposed to fruiting conditions. The weekly cycle you are doing is how to get regular weekly crops, but it sounds like something else is not quite right..

    • @michaelleewagaman301
      @michaelleewagaman301 Před 3 lety

      Hey thanks for getting back to me do fast. Could i be experiencing species fatigue or sequencence. Or what its called. I just recently broke out my master culture slants and re-ran them on petri. Also, how do you do your turn around? Meaning how many times do you expand from your master to perti until you either go back to your masters or just clone from a fruiting body? Would enjoy seeing a video on that. I am working with regular oysters; king, black pearl, path finder oyster (mossy creek mushrooms bred species), lions mane, figuring out the white elf mushroom (nebrodensis). Just broke out my indian, blue and elm oyster and bears head. Findings on those will come later. Everything worked some what fine 8 months ago and then i had that winter period where i had to shut er down due to my limited operational ability. Again thanks for getting back to me. Sometimes it just takes a sound board and some direction in these matters. I have asked all the farmers i am subscribed to but your the first to get back to me. Apologize for the lengthy response. Keep up the great work, i learn alot from yall.
      Blessed be
      And keep it fungi.

  • @claytune8075

    I was surprised by the recommendation to keep it in the original packaging, most videos I see say to put them in paper bags before refrigerating them, I think it also depends on the type of refrigerator you have - older ones don't remove moisture and newer ones do. So maybe this is making a difference in the advice given here? If moisture is not removed, my understanding is that the mushrooms become slimy. I don't know - food for thought....does anyone actually read comments by the way :)

    • @claytune8075
      @claytune8075 Před rokem

      And actually after watching further he kind of reinforced what I am saying - Plastic wrap is "Breathable" - so if your fridge sucks out moisture then paper is not so much needed....

    • @conversationswithadrianne
      @conversationswithadrianne Před rokem

      Yep. People read comments. 😁

    • @dawneandjohn
      @dawneandjohn Před 2 měsíci

      In my experience, the Baby Bella mushrooms will get slimy if kept in the original plastic wrap.
      After I open the container, I fold the plastic wrap in half and place half-way over the original container (leaving air space on each end) so they can breathe.
      Granted, the fridge will eventually dehydrate the exposed areas after a few days, but it's better than being slimy. 😊

    This is a very unusual question probably, but if I wanted to preserve a mushroom for display (as in part of a mycological shadow box) is there a particular way I could preserve them? They obviously don't need to be edible, just preserved.
