Chrome problem DSG gear shift handle reassemble/disassembly Škoda Octavia Mk3 (5E)

- Had to do some messing around till found all the latches that were holding the DSG automatic transmission shifter handle in one so this video is for anyone dealing with the same problem.. (Škoda Octavia Mk3 (5E))
With help of one of the commenters got Skoda order numbers:
Switch cover 5E0713147
DSG top cover 5E0713146A

Glad it helped! Did you found where to buy only those parts (logo cap and button) or had a donor handle?
@@letsfixitgarage Yeah, buying them is not an easy task. Usually you can buy the whole handle, but I found 2 different car dealers in Poland who were selling them separately.

@@letsfixitgarage In Poland eBay is not that much popular as in other countries - we buy using Allegro. And I bought those parts using that website.

Good explanatuon. I wonder is 85euros good price for the complete knob with leather boot as well?
I would say ok, if you need to change the leather part.. if I remember correctly it was ~100 when I needed it. Although I didn't figured it out how to remove the complete handle :)) and chrome parts were ~ 20 eur
@@letsfixitgarage yes the plate and the chrome switch would be 27 euros but the handle is worn too. Its a L&K Superb 4x4 mk3 by he way.
Well then whole handle seems like a better deal.. wow Skoda managed to get failing materials even for a more luxury cars.. unbelievable..
@@letsfixitgarage now that you say this.. I have an old DSG octavia and the gear shifter the old version is just bulletproof. I prefer the older ones to be honest. :)

Should be possible, although work will be more difficult because of space and angles..

@@MultiMilos83 I'm a moron.. of course it can be done, as I done it the same way :)))) had the same problem that I couldn't figure out how to exchange it completely so I exchanged only the chrome parts.
