Just some take-aways: Peter’s Aunt Martha should be the villain of the story because as a psychiatrist, she knew the harm in forcing a female identity onto Peter, but she wanted a daughter in “Angela” too much to care. I love Aunt Martha’s house. Why go to camp when you can watch tv and listen to mom? Peter knew on a level that Aunt Martha didn’t realize that Peter couldn’t pass as Angela even as a kindergarten kid. He and Angela had spied on their Dad and his boyfriend making love and saw that their bodies were alike. Later, Peter and Angela had played post office and would’ve realized their differences.

This one being more than most, but even if you go to some of the bigger ones you have child's play 1-3 with its final boy and nightmare on elm street (the sequels) having more african american representation than most modern horror movies you'd think would do better than late 80s Freddy Krueger flix, not to mention nightmare 2 being aggressively homosexual in nearly every aspect.

The plot twist at the end was highly controversial for the day, but still shocks even by today's standards. They made a mold of the actress's face and put it on a male college kid to get the shot. He requested to be drunk before hand because he was nervous about being nude.

Cuz, like you said he/she was trying to fight the reality of his/her own Boyness in order to make the kiss okay.
So what you're saying is the pointing is Peter telling himself, As he's being kissed by another boy, "This is okay. Because you're not really a boy. You're a Girl. Overall I really love this film. Thanks for checking it out. 2 and 3 are decent attempts to carry the franchise, but obviously since Angela's "secret" is already out of the bag that bit of shock value isn't really a prominent factor. Thank you so much for watching this movie while considering the era in which it was made. Men in short shorts and no such thing as cgi for the effects was normal in those days. The artists who did the post-kill shots were on the same caliber as the ones who did the "living dead" zombie movies to come. Make up artists were amazing back then. I'm glad you appreciated their art and didn't find it 'bad' or 'dated.' I idolized those artists growing up and miss them in modern film-making.
I also enjoyed your take on the subject matter of the film itself. I'm glad and relieved that this movie didn't upset or offend you. I was a stupid kid when this movie came out so I had no idea how polarizing the film would be 4 decades later. I just saw it as a "bad guys who deserve to die do die and I'm glad" horror movie with a twist ending. For me, it was what The Sixth Sense ended up being when that movie came out. Revisiting this movie as an adult, I still feel the same way. Except now I can feel sympathy for stupid young hormonal Paul (?) wanting to make it to second base with a "girl" so he could be like the other boys. When I was younger, I hated him pressuring "Angela" and was glad he got the ending he got. Being nice to "the girl" gave him no right to push when she said no. As a preteen I wanted him dead after that first scene when he had her on her back, even without knowing how the movie would end. As an adult, I'm sorry he died for his hormones, but I still sympathize with the main protagonist. And I'm nostalgically attached to this campy old horror film so it's nice to simply watch someone who doesn't read too much into it. The world was very different in those days, for good or worse.

Ricky's mother made made tragedy happen. Because Peter survived the accident his sister Angela and his father died. So Ricky's mother forced Peter to live as his dead sister thos suppressing Peters true identity and feelings. By making him live as his dead sister Angela against his will. Wich is probably considered extreme child abuse both mentally and physically. It has nothing to do with gender its about the child abuse that Peter went through. By Ricky's mother she literally made Peter not exist anymore. Then had him live as a completely different person of the opposite gender with his dead sister's name. That would be called and considered psychological and physical abuse of the worst kind. Then Peter out of ants control along with other triggers. Finally snapped then completely lost his mind then killed anyone that wronged him. Basically it took a couple years after the accident an living through years of abuse. Under the ants control of psychological and physical abuse. But Peter finally broke through again then. Lost his mind completely and took revenge on anyone that did anything against him. That vision of the two kids on the bed . Was Peters mind reminding him that he is Angela. They are the same person Peter was resurfacing after all those years. As living as his dead sister Angela against his will. Basically let's say someone went to you your know a boy named Bob now . Like it or not you will Speak like Bob you will dress like Bob and you think like Bob and feel like Bob for the rest of your life. Who you were before does not matter they are dead because you are now Bob. Then live like that for 8 years suppressing who you really are. Because someone's making you live as Bob. Then lets see what kind of psychological state that leaves you in. Because that's what Peter went through he was forced to live as his dead sister for years. Untill he finally snapped and started to kill people that's Wonged him. But it all started when Ricky's mother made Peter live as Angela against his will. That's why she didn't want anyone knowing every got medical forms. Cuz anyone looking them up would know that Peter lived and Angela died. Then she would be in trouble for making Peter live as Angela. Because they would see a death certificate for Angela. Not for Peter then she would be busted for child abuse see what's doing to Peter.

I highly suggest the 1982 horror anthology film 'Creepshow'. It's directed by George Romero (night/dawn of the living dead, etc), with some stories by Stephen King (he even stars in it as well).

Of all the horror movies you said you'd react to, I never would've guessed Sleepaway Camp was on the list. BTW I still think the makers of The Crying Game owe creative credit to this movie.

I somehow missed this because it came out when I’d just gone to college. So I watched it before watching your reaction. Great reaction, again, and as a Gen X’er who dressed this way in high school, can confirm those shorts left little to the imagination. They made me uncomfortable to look at and wear. But we all wore them anyway. Shocked now as I remember boys jiggling around in those shorts and it was normal.😂

the second you said "oh the girl died!" and "angela must be the killer" I was like roll credits LMAO I don't think I've ever seen someone new to this movie actually guess the ending, let alone in the first 20 minutes!

I was sooo happy to see this was your next review. Sleepaway Camp is very much out of Left Field but this is definitely a classic. Thank you for choosing this. This camp though. Dang. The 80s were wild. This is one of those classic movies that there is NO WAY IN HELL you could remake in today's environment, but I am glad this exists.

Sista you are hilarious and gorgeous! You make my day when I see an upload. It seems you got 80s horror covered so I would like to recommend The Exorcist (1973), The People Under the Stairs (1991) and the original Candyman (1992). But I'll watch you react to anything, so do you boo!
