Okay, so I love Reload and all and I think it usually does the original scenes justice, but what the hell happened here? In my eyes, this is one of THE most pivotal scenes in the game. Aigis's relationship with death is inextricably tied with the rest of the game's narrative, and it was imperative that they nail this in the remake, so I'm shocked they completely lost the plot here. The framing is so good in the original. P3's high angle shot works in its favor here by making the characters look so small and weak in the face of death. The lighting is dark and moody, and the way the characters are positioned around Aigis feels like something out of a stage play, heightening the drama of the scene and emphasizing how alone Aigis feels in this moment. The sprites also play a big role in this scene. Most significantly though, somehow this game from 2007 has more expressive animations than the 2024 release. Aigis's body language here is such a stark departure from the rest of the game. She stands timidly, hands clenched over her chest as she stares down at the floor, refusing to meet her friends' eyes. She's so overcome with fear and grief that she falls to her knees, but her body is literally incapable of shedding any tears. In Reload, they sit around on a couch? Why? This one decision removes all of the angsty energy present in the original. The dark lighting is gone, the camera angle is neutral, the framing is bland, and most important, all of the character animation present in the original is replaced with canned animations. Aigis no longer demonstrates all the humanity of the original. Her paralyzing fear of the situation is no longer conveyed properly and the contrast between her attitude before and after her altercation with Ryoji isn't as noticeable.
@@blues2270 well, she used him as a container for ryouji AND left makoto without parents,thanks to that he end up in all the SEES mess and Nyx was able to born again, so, yeah, technicly she is the cause of the whole game and ending
Right, like I knew it was gonna come and when it happened my mind immediately wanted to CZcams this cuz it's so well done, very awesome. Reload just felt dry and was disappointed 😞
if im gonna be honest, I like the scene in reload a bit more than the OG, probably due to the voice acting being a lot better in reload than in the OG.

After watching this scene on Reload, I fell so sad, they butcher it It's so much weaker and bland, everyone is sitting confy on the couch and Aigis just stands up and sits again, not even falls on her knees... Where's the emotion!? And I gotta mention, everyone is talking about how Junpei and Akihiko VAs are bad, but Aigis really bothers me (she's not bad ny any means! It's just that her voice doesn't fit for this character) Her whole deal is a machine that lacks emotion and by the passing of time, she gains it! The og VA gives this impression of machine, synthetic voice, it's mechanical and almost not human at all Now this new VA just sounds completely human since the start, don't give her own take on Aigis way of speaking... Truly disappointing, one of my favorites scenes of this amazing character I love so much... 😕
I agree with almost all of this, but the VA stuff is technically more accurate to the JP script. Aigis never really spoke in a particularly robotic way in the original JP dub apart from using stiff, overly formal language, which I think the Reload dub actually does convey properly. The monotone voice Aigis used in the original English dub was a localization quirk. You can argue the change elevated the character (I would actually agree with this point), but I don't think the point should be held against Dawn Bennett's performance.

I haven’t played the game yet, but seeing clips it’s a bit jarring to hear the new voice actors but they slowly growing on me. The one I’m fine with is Junpei. They were going to have to replace Vic given how he hasn’t been doing any voice acting for the last five years, I think Zeno Robison does a great job with Junpei. But that’s how I see things.

The original va for aigis was way to over the top with her robotic voice it was pretty annoying.
