Elektron Octatrack: Make "Generative" Music with Sample Slicing

  • Here's one way to create a song that evolves through the use of an LFO to randomly pick sample slices for multiple tracks. All you need is an Elektron Octatrack and some samples with repeating (but not identical patterns).

    You could make 5 slices, the fifth being silent. That would add some space without the 4 tracks constantly overlaying. Also add an LFO to invoke portamento so you get a slide between slices.
