    What size glove should you use for softball? That can be hard cause many of us are used to our baseballl gloves but this is a very different sport and you may need a different glove. If you played in the ouftield than you're in luck because almost every outfield glove will work great for slow pitch softball. The smallest size glove you should ever use in slow pitch is probably 12". You can get away with a smaller glove but it is only making you worse. I currently use a 12.5" glove at shortstop and it has felt great. I used 12.25" last year and it felt a little quicker but obviously a little shorter. For anyone in the outfield you should be using at least 12.75" and could go up pretty much as much as you want. I've seen softball gloves go all the way up to 15" before!!! At third you could use 12.5" or bigger. I think 12.75 would be most peoples favorite size glove at this postion. But as you'll see in the video I'd reccomend going with 12" at the smallest for middle infield. In reality you should be using something bigger because a softball is so big so you aren't going to lose it in the glove. The only thing you need to weigh is how quickly you cqn move the glove. Meaniing left and right when someone tags a short hoppper to you and you need to just make an instant move to a back hand. Are you gonna be able to make that pklay with 12.75"? If so you might as well just use that size glove cause it'll only help you.

    Loved this vid. I’ve been using my Wilson 1787 because that’s my only glove but now that I’ve been playing softball much more I was thinking of getting the Wilson SP125. 12.5 size deep pocket and awesome color way. I play shortstop too so I’m hoping it’s not going to be tough to transfer quickly. It’s coed so the small ball for women is easy to catch with a small glove but the real ball I don’t have a lot of room for error.

    I just got a 1275 rawlings gg elite and was wondering if maybe it was too big. I've only played baseball in the past, but I'm playing softball now. Good to hear that you think bigger sizes are probably better even though you prefer 1225.

    After trying a 13.5 (too big) and a 10.5 glove (kinda small) I got a Franklin Fieldmaster 12, fits good and works well! I couldnt find a used leather glove and didnt want to break in a new leather glove, too hard, takes too long! Its a pleather glove, inexpensive, perfect for throwing balls with the hubby and gkids; arrived next day via Amazon; arrived splayed open, so used bungee cords to flex fold it closed for several hours, then it wd close readily. Theres no batting/catching/running group for grannies in my area, drat!

    Is there a glove you recommend that would work for multiple different positions and games? I’m getting back into baseball and playing in a city league here but wanna get into some different leagues also and it’ll be baseball, slow pitch softball and fast pitch. I will be playing mainly outfield in all of them but every now and then switch to 2nd and 3rd base. I’ve got a Walmart cheapie glove I been using but am now looking into the market of the good 100-200 dollar gloves and I can’t afford to buy 6 of those. So I was hoping that I could find a glove that would be ok for each position and league. Or I might just have to buy a outfield glove and use it for each league and infield glove and use it for each league.

Wondering if you could shed some light as I am about to place my first 44 order and I'm not sure which to go with. I've always just used 12.5 to 13in baseball gloves in the past for SS in slowpitch. Thanks for your time.

      Second question if you don't mind, do you think the 44pro 12.5 slowpitch pattern would differ from your 12.5 HOH baseball pattern? Basically wondering if the slowpitch pattern from 44pro will make the glove "bigger" even at the same glove length.

    • @ballgloveking
      @ballgloveking  Před 2 lety +1

      I don’t have a 44 pro in 12.5” but my 12.25 44 is definitely smaller than my 12.5 Rawlings’s I’d guess that it would be just right in size if that makes sense

      Sizes over 12 inch is generally considered as big for infield gloves. But some people use big gloves because they feel comfortable to use it. So basically case by case.
      While it comes to 14 inch I would question it. Never knew that softball gloves come with max 14 inch size, which is interesting. According to MLB rules, all gloves excluding mitts should be under 13 inch long. Although it's not illegal to use your gloves in your game since you're not a Major League baseball player but just bear in mind why there are such rules in regulating sizes of the glove and/or why most people don't use gloves over 13 inch. Not just because unlimited glove size causes unfair games, but you as a player will feel uncomfortable pulling the ball out from your glove to throw it when defending as an infielder.

      dude same, i’ve always used an 11.5 for middle infield for baseball and it feels fine for softball too haha. i can’t imagine there being too drastic a difference from 11.5 to 12.25, tbh i feel like i’d be slower haha

      I try a 12 inch idk I didn’t feel comfortable, but could be I’m use to my glove

    13 is my smallest and used for 2 but most of the time in the outfield I use a 15"

    12.5 seems to be minimum for slowpitch, I have guys on my team using 14.5 to help get those HOT balls coming 90+ off the bat

      As long as they can get the glove there in time bigger is sorta better, that’s awesome

      No softballs are going 90+ off the bat🤣

      Yeah I think that’s the one thing ballgloveking didn’t take into account. I use a 12.5” at 2nd/SS and it’s great for church league. However for more competitive leagues where the guys are hitting the ball at 90-100 exit velos….it feels too small.
