  • Today we install a Fisch Racing Tech adapter onto the 280Z's Nissan CD009 transmission so that we can mount it to the Toyota 2JZ engine! I'll show you how its done so that you don't ruin your transmission! We're finally getting close to working on the 2JZ swap on the Datsun.

Loving the content buddy, it’s a lot harder to get one of these in the UK but watching you restore my dream car is the best thing to come home from work to 👍🏼

Buy once, cry once. As I've gotten older, that is more my style. That looks like a really nice bell housing adapter

For sure. Cheap parts can be more expensive in the long run.

That seems like a really nice thought-out kit. I also agree with bellhousing > adapter plate.

Excellent adapter kit. I wish I could spend as much time on mine as you have on yours. Chers

Nice work. Somehow S30 chassis just seem right with an L6.

And a 2JZ sounds amazing and can make big power.

This is one of the best videos I watched in years. I didn’t even know you could do that with a tranny. One question, what do you do with the gap between the body and the new bell housing? I was hoping you would show the fit but never did.

Same. There's another similar kit that I've seen people use and the gap varies a lot by the person who installed it. It seems like it might be weaker overall not having the bellhousing cast into tthe case and only held on with like 10 bolts if you have a high torque application.

I just posted a couple pics of the fitment on insta. Fits nice and tight. I don't think it would matter at all if you had a bigger gap, there's nothing in there that water/debris will hurt. Could seal it with RTV if you were worried.

I thought that myself initially but am the research I did said it's not an issue. The front cover/new adapter indexes on the input shaft bearing race etc also, which would help with the strengths. I suppose you could also do a few welds around the seam and cut them if you ever have to pull the trans apart.
