It's a professional string quartet actually with a cello, viola and 2 violins.
It's in a few songs, she ends a lot of songs with other songs melodies
I love how she has been flexing on different vocal styles in this album. She's got some really great R&B runs, She has some very beautiful mystical vocal moments, she has some of the more 50s jazz kind of vocals in one of the songs, and The Greatest has a point of build up where it hits old school Rock Ballad awesomeness.
Finneas is also showing us in this album that he is a hard worker and artist who can go head to head with ANY high end production.
Watching these two kids grow and become so amazing has been an absolute joy. Major kudos to thier parents.

I think for this album I would recommend you guys to listen to it in order, the transitions are amazing and blue makes more sense cause has a verse with parts of the lyrics of the other songs of the album

Loving your Billie journey, thanks. FWIW this album really starts to sharpen it's teeth from about track 5 in terms of its sophistication and mind-blowing cinematic prowess - purely imho. The second half is just constant curveballs, as you know from doing Blue. Then again it's all great!

the lyrics that you commented on about being a secret are about how some fans wanted to gatekeep her music, and how some people stopped liking her once she became more mainstream even tho she herself never “did them wrong”. she still cries, she’s still human and the same person basically. at least that’s one interpretation of it and it hits deep in the context of the song.

Thanks for reviewing, and please do more! The song is her commentary on fame and its attendant public scrutiny, and the things people say about her. Some of her earliest fans have said they miss the days before she was famous, when she was “their secret”. A few years ago, some people were questioning whether Billie was “in her flop era”. I doubt she spends a ton of time in the comments, but she’s always aware of what people are saying. And of course - as a female - discussions about her body are inevitable, inappropriate, and painful to experience. I think she’s a bit fed up with it all, and maybe her “I loved you for so long” lyric just means she’s distancing herself from some aspects of fame.

I remember a while back when she turned off all her social media because it REALLY affected her mental health. I imagine this is a reflection on that along with how idiots are brutal on women's body image online and men's! How she still feels trapped by it even when she comes off of the stage from the cheers. So glad she has a good circle with her family and dear Finnias to keep her grounded! x
