If you want the color to come out less blotchy and more even, saturate the clothes with clean water before you add it to the paint water. It spreads the dye through the fabric more evenly.

DO NOT. REPEAT. DO NOT PUT SAFETY PINS IN A WASHING MACHINE.

this works great for minky fabric, too! which is great, cause i needed some minky in a specific pale skin tone colour for a character plush, and this method for getting that colour worked like a charm! the minky 'fur' gets a bit stiff when it's all dry, but just running a comb or brush over it gets it nice and soft again

Acrylic is way cheaper. I've also had some results cutting open a permanent marker and letting it bleed into the water.

Could you like put the remaining mixture in squeeze bottle to store it? I’m wondering cause I wanted to use this dyeing method to tie dye! Putting it in a squeeze bottle might offer more control and a storage option as well. But then again the garment wouldn’t be able to soak unless it was really saturated which might’ve kinda hard to do from just a bottle 🤔

    • @Zeevisual

You can place the left over mixture in an airtight container.
Knowing acrylic you can put it in a squeeze bottle and splash it on the clothing piece like regular tie dye, diluted of course. Let it sit a few minutes and rinse it. Should work great

Ooh there's this new acrylic paint called musou black. Supposed to be the blackest black paint (absorbs 99.4% light).
Would that work with this method, like keeping what light absorbing percentage?

And does THE paint last when you wash it later on? OR will THE whole washer with clothes be yellow?
