- Donna Anna: Birgit Nilsson
Orchestra Of The National Theatre Prague
cond.: Karl Böhm
Or sai chi l'onore
Rapire a me volse,
Chi fu il traditore
Che il padre mi tolse.
Vendetta ti chiedo,
La chiede il tuo cor.
Rammenta la piaga
Del misero seno,
Rimira di sangue
Coperto il terreno.
Se l'ira in te langue
D'un giusto furor.
~
Now you know who sought
to steal my honor,
who was the betrayer
who killed my father:
I ask you vengeance,
your heart asks it too.
Remember the wound
gaping in his poor breast,
recall the earth
covered with his blood,
if ever the wrath of a just fury
should weaken in you.

For such a huge instrument, she has quite the agility! Very impressive.
From my point of view Mozart is more exciting when sung by big voices. Nilsson did a really good job in this aria. 🎉
Take a second to admire her beauty.
Outstanding!
Try listening to another, it's weird that, in my opinion, she does it best. She attributes her long career for her mozart rolls, she called it "easy on the pipes".
@@brianparks3417 Birgit Nilsson won international recognition as the leading dramatic soprano in the world, a legendary interpreter of especially Wagner, Richard Strauss and Puccini. Through a combination of hard work, musical talent and strong discipline, she successfully conquered all the leading opera houses in the world with an impressively wide repertoire: from Mozart, Verdi and Puccini to Richard Strauss and Wagner. It was above all Wagner's music that came to define her career. In my opinion, Buttefly or Electra have not performed with such intense bravura since Birgit Nilsson stepped off the stage. Mozart was not what she did most. But I think that this particular aria where the young Birgit Nilsson interprets Donna Anna became very exciting in Nilsson's easily restrained interpretation.
What a genius she was!
Any relation?
@@brianparks3417 I wish! Nilsson is a very common name in Sweden. We are both southern girls. 😀
Not the best, but she does a good job as the outraged Donna Anna.
Speaking of "not the best" listen to Troll Emily's "singing" sometime.
I really think she is the best at this aria, for something that shoud be out of her element, she sails through it.
@@Muttonchop_USA No thanks, I've already had the dubious 'pleasure'
