I went to a gamestore to sell my disc copy of Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the PS2 (I have an extra cleaner copy with a case). They ran it through the resurfacer twice and it was a miracle that it worked.
What made me happy was that it was the copy I grew up with when I got it. It was just unreadable due to playing it so damn much. Seeing it start up again made me so damn happy.
They don't even clean their resurfacing machines.

@@nikhernandez8435 I have a car dvd player for long drives on trips and it just takes normal dvds not Blu Ray type disks.
I wish I had this as a kid my favirote Thomas dvd got scratched up because I couldn't hold it and eventually It couldn't be watched.

Too bad resurfacing only works a few times before the disc is irreversibly ruined

A little tip for everyone, Wiis have a widescreen option that you can access and enable in settings. It's also an option when you boot a Wii for the first time I think.

I have this one handheld one from early 2000? It sounds like it is snapping the disk, but it works perfectly. (A disc cleaner)

You can also just smear toothpaste on the disk, let it dry, clean off any excess toothpaste and viola! The paste should fill the scratches.
(Note that it can only work if the scratches aren't too deep.)

Had a disc of MKWii for 13 years that got really beat up, but still somehow worked. It finally gave up while playing it one time (game crashed, ejected the disc to find it was cracked).
Luckily, I had another disc ready to go!
When I was a child, I used to use some paste wax for cars to smooth light scratches on my CDs and DVDs. I wonder whether this way of buffing can work onto a Wii disk.
A Wii game is a DVD so stuff that works on standard DVDs would work on Wii games.
Too bad resurfacer machines are also extremely expensive

I had a resurfacing machine, it was pretty awesome to save games. Didn't make it as shiny but it did buff them out enough to play

How effective actually is this?
We all know how sensitive discs are, or atleast i personally do...
Could this cause certain frames to freeze / crash?
Could this cause certain data to be unreadable at a specific point while playing?
Honestly, this is why homebrewing is so important. Not having to worry about flawed discs makes my life so easy.
How much testing is *actually* done to ensure these are properly working? If its only what the video shows, this is why i cant be bothered to shop with DKO, when i test things that i fix i do deep tests to ensure the quality of the product, and its effective because i have had issues that i still needed to fix that a 1 minute test would not tell me.
Man i hate the gaming market, always so sketchy.

Hey, I have the same thing with my Wii Sports game too, how can I fix it even though I donât have the machine that you have?
Very late response but you can use a soft cloth rag and some polishing compound. I suggest looking up a more detailed breakdown then what im giving you though, since there's different types of compounds to choose from. You can also actually apply a new layer of clear material on the surface and that sometimes works too I've been told.
