Thank you so much for all you do and help us. I tested 5.7 last week. In March I changed my diet, getting rid of most of the breads, pasta and watching my sugar intake. I have lost 30 lbs. and 4 inches around my waist. I have my A1c tested every 4 months. My triglyserides have always been at a great level. I am 74 years old and have noticed a huge change in my 70's. I have to watch everything a lot closer than when I was younger. I do walk 2-3 miles every morning. And lift free weights at least 4 days a week. Still working on that pesky A1c though.

I usually eat at 10 AM and 4 PM no snacks. I eat eggs with both meals coupled with steak, burger, salmon, liver, or sausages. No fruits and little vegetables. I do this about 6 days a week. Sometimes I have a glass of wine with my meal.

Glad to hear this, there’s so much conflicting information out there. I’ve been eating scrambled eggs and two sausage links, the high fat meat corroborated by another site, but then was told sausage was unhealthy so I should switch to cottage cheese. I also was told that frying any meat including bacon, sausage or ham was bad. Along with the sausage and eggs I’ve been having a slice of whole wheat whole grain toast, but was told all grains should be out of my diet including any wheat like this toast, Wheaties cereal, etc.
I’m definitely going to be making that mushroom and cheddar omelette, great idea, thanks. 👍

Whenever I’ve eaten oatmeal I always get so hungry a few hours afterwards, I do like it though so I make a modified version that’s lower in carbs with only a little bit of steel cut oats plus hemp and chia seeds, protein powder, a bit of coconut yoghurt and top with nuts and berries

Hi Kait! Great content as always! I’m at the gym lifting weights by 4:30am 4 days a week. I eat my breakfast at 8am everyday. Trying to be consistent 😅. I also have insulin resistance so I’ve learned to eat a very high protein breakfast not just to help with building muscle but to keep me full until late afternoon and to keep my blood sugar under control. This morning I made a huge omelette with chicken sausage and loads of veggies. I also had 155 grams of seedless cucumbers with tuna salad. I ate everything! 78 grams of protein and only 13 grams of carbs. Delicious and nutritious!

More protein, at least 30 grams in every meal. I am a pescatarian. For 3 month I ate very good and very mindful of my carbs, protein and fats. Triglycerides and cholesterol are perfect but sugar when up to 116 and 6.6......I do not know what else to do...help....................MINDY

    • @Hertz2laugh
      @Hertz2laugh Před měsícem +6

Carbs are what cause blood sugar to go up, so you are thinking correctly - cutting your carbs will improve your blood sugar levels.
      The lower the better.
Juat be aware that carbs (a.k.a. sugar) is addictive just like alcohol and caffeine and nicotine.
That means, the more you cut back on carbs, the strongee your cravings will be.
And it means that if you try to cut down on carbs, you will go through sugar withdrawals for about a week or two - headaches, low energy, mood swings, intense cravings, anxiety, disturbed sleep, etc.
This is the big thing that most people aren't aware of. They just thing carbs are something they like or are a family tradition so they aren't prepared for how difficult it can be to give them up.
      Carbs are seriously addictive.
You beed to prepare to go through an uncomfortable detox period if you are trying to cut back on them.
And, if you start eating more carbs again, it can trigger binge eating.
In other words, cutting down on carbohydrates is very simple, but it is not easy.
You need to mentally prepare yourself to go through a very uncomfortable two weeks.
But once you break through those two weeks of sugar detox, your whole life will become so much easier.
Being free of those cravings is an amazing feeling.
      You can do it.
I am happy to explain more or answer questions or address concerns.
I have personal experience with this protocol and with dealing with sugar addiction.

@@geno5169 Humans can live without dietary carbs.
Humans can make any carbs they need by converting protein to sugars (glucose).
      This process is called gluconeogenesis.
Dietary carbs are completely optional and not required because we can make the carbs we need out of protein.

There are foodstuffs that are far more nutrient dense than others. A simple example is fatty fish vs porterhouse steak. 300g of wild caught salmon gives you 353 cal, of which is mostly is provided by protein. 300g of beef porterhouse steak provides 666 cal, about the same amount of protein, but higher levels of fat.
The "balance between fat and protein" is more even that in even the fattiest fish. It will keep you satiated for longer because of the higher fat content.

If you workout and exercise regularly oatmeal is a great breakfast option. Especially steel cut or rolled oats. I usually make mine overnight style which reduces the glucose spike. I add 32g of whey protein, 20g collagen, 1 TBS of chia, cinnamon (a natural blood sugar spike reducer) and usually mix it all with half a cup of fairlife milk, or milk and cold brew coffee. This combo is about 350 - 450 cals and very nicely balanced. Easy way to get 40g of protein and keeps me going until late afternoon.

I used to eat two eggs every morning until the doctor told me to eat oats, nuts and seeds with a apple instead to lower my cholesterol 😢

Sausage and bacon, high processed food. You can find a study that confirms anything you agree with and ignore the studies that show the exact opposite . But different weight can be added to the different findings. High cholesterol is still the biggest cause of heart related health events. Are studies comparable? And yes there are studies with findings paid for by drug manufacturers. But high cholesterol still kills. Fact. Processed food cause higher cholesterol. Fact. Is high cholesterol the only cause of heart problems, no.

Bacon can be just sliced pork. Sausages can be just minced meat in casing. I won't address your cholesterol concerns because I have other videos on the topics if you would like to learn more.

    • @stupud818
      @stupud818 Před měsícem +1

@HealthCoachKait you know as well as I do that nobody is slicing pork and calling it bacon. And no one is eating just pure mince meat in a casing and calling it a sausage. You say bacon, ppl think cured meat, you say sausage, ppl think sausage meat. If you were going to eat plain mince with nothing else added why would you put it in a casing? And where would one purchase these mince in a sack?

@stupud818 I’m not saying to make them yourself. I am saying they aren’t always as processed as you are saying.

I've really gotten into eating a whole 16oz carton of clean cottage cheese and usually 6 or more eggs and maybe a half to a full pound of bacon. I usually cook 2lbs of cut up bacon the night before, then cook my carton of 12 or more eggs in the bacon fat, and I'll eat some right then for dinner, but I'm usually not as hungry at that time. So I'll eat that in the morning. But I usually wait until I'm actually hungry, which ranges anywhere from an hour to 3+ hours after I get up. But I've found that eating the cottage cheese, eggs and bacon really fill me up without being uncomfortable. Then I can go out and do my job, which is fairly physical and involves food, and not be hungry or tempted to snack until 8+ hours later. 🩷😁

These teachings do not tell sufferers whether they can come back to normal lives after insulin levels have been lowered based on established levels.
Fasting normally brings down insulin to acceptable levels so following these teachings involving fastings often, and eating lean carbohydrate food once or twice a day ensures insulin remains at acceptable levels. But is that life?
After insulin has come down and stays within acceptable levels for sometime, can someone come back to normal life, and eat like a normal human being should eat? These teachings have not shown a pathway to a normal life. Saying diabetes will be getting better, why not? With all d fasting and not eating and living normal life, why won't d diabetes get better? What we are saying is, after following these steps and insulin level comes down, what next then? Can someone live normal life again by eating like a normal human being after this length of self-torture? If not, it then shows that science is correct that diabetes does not currently have a cure. D cure in this teaching is simply for one to continue with self-torture.
One more thing. These teachings continue to recommend certain foods or supplements. These do not consider availability of those foods or supplements for every one or every where.
