What Martin says about his reasoning behind the speaker angle in his 412 cabinet makes good sense. I realized how directional my Marshall 412 was once just by walking around playing with a wireless in a venue that would seat about 500 people. This was obviously without a mic on the cab. I was amazed not only at the volume difference, but the sound difference at different points in the venue. Anyway, great design!!! Great playing!!! Great sounding amp!!!

Hey from west-o-the -pond. Bout 10:40 Mr. Kidd was just.... Not caressing but grabbed that kitty by the throat & shoulda pulled a "London calling"cover & slammed the guitar walking off in domination. His ease & pinched harm. I thought Chaps musta been tryin the cab. But camera moves from frets to room , a Grey beard!!! WTF?!? I start I started laughing out loud had to go back because that man destroyed!!!! The frets were about to just drip liquid metal in small puddles all over the floor. That was an amazing beautiful humble guy. Thanks guys. From Detroit with the other 14 people still in the city. ---Dave

I'd been waiting for this review after watching the Duke review. It was worth the wait, this amp is awesome.I love the sound, both clean and with gain.
There needs to be a nobel prize for amplitudeness, so he can win it. Eyebrows taken off? My ears have just given me their notice, they don't want to be tainted by hearing anything else.
I'd say that the Cap'n's been down to the crossroads at midnight and that the Chapmeister, has more shred than a jar of Robinsons thick cut, either that or the incredible Mr Kidd has put pixies in his amp. Awesome sound.
Near the beginning when Martin was playing the CAP-10 I thought Lee had just gained some serious shred skill

thats what happens when you're picking guitars up off shelves for demos. Same way guitars always seem to have slight tuning issues when you try them in your local store. had the guitar been in the same temperature/atmospheric conditions (you could go on for hours about this stuff), been played for a few hours prior to warm it up. i'm sure it would be just fine. Tuning can be every guitarists nightmare, not least of all for people who pick up a brand new guitar every thirty minutes...
Great video rob. The autofocus on your camera jumps around all over the place though, which is very distracting with such a shallow depth of field. I suggest you either stop the lens down a bit to increase the depth of focus or move to using manual focus so that you can control exactly what you're focussing on.

Great stuff, this V50 reminds me of my own old Brunetti. It sounds fat and warm, tons of gain. And yes, Martin is an awesome guitarist... Damn!
What Brunetti amp do you have? and how does it compare to the V50 The Earl? I am in two minds about the Brunetti Mercury EL34 and the Victory V50 the Earl.... Any thoughts?
***** Hey there! The Mercury EL34 is great, but I own the XL Revo II which I find even better. There's just so much you can do with it since it's a 3 channel master volume and presence amp with fully seperate gains, volumes, presence and 3-band EQ per channel. It's also MIDI switchable. I have the 50 Watt version, nowadays Brunetti installs a 5 / 15 / 50 Watt powerstaging you can toggle with a little switch. I know it's marketed towards metal and heavy rock music, but it's so much more than just that!
The V50 sounds much like the XL Revo II for which you can find some demos by Vinai T and Eddie Vegas right here in CZcams Land. It might be a bit warmer, but that also depends on the speakers used and the tubes you put in there. Had some Winged C's in my amp at one point, it gave me headaches. Svetlana NOS is the way to go. I think the XL Revo II excells in usability. Plus, if you want the Mercury's sound you can get pretty damn close just using the Mercury Box pedal Brunetti makes.
Anyway, try them both and see what you like best. Victory Amplification seems like an honest company with passion for what they do, this amp sounds GREAT!

I would have liked to hear Rob get on a humbucking beast and do like 20 seconds of thrash metal to SHOW us what it sounds like doing modern sounds, and also what it means that "it has more gain than you'll ever use". I've heard that about quite a few amps and it's either not true, or yes it does have tons of gain but sounds like garbage.
Great demonstration of clean and classic tones tho.
I have recently bought this amp and I can assure you that it can do thrash metal very well and, although it does have loads of gain, it keeps the sound clear and defined, so it is 100% usable and awesome. Best tone I've ever heard ever.

That's good to hear, but have you ever plugged into an ENGL?
I've played all the ranges from Marshall, Orange, Mesa, Peavey, and Blackstar and ENGL tones and gain levels slay them all.
Les Paul and a Marshall.... Strat with a Blues Deluxe.... ML-1 with a V100 or V50? Yes!
Love how you can see the Cap'n has improved his guitar skills. Love the amp too, such a good tone.

How about a amp that switches gain sections and can combine them as well, so instead of channel switching, you choose between (say 4) gain stages, 1) super clean(gain/volume) 2)clean(gain/volume 3)crunch (g/v) 4)metal (g/v) with master EQ ,reverb and Master Volume and if you really want to Soup it Up! a Master Boost with level control
I'm glad that Martin Kidd has moved away from Cornford. The number of times that I went to gigs to see Paul Cornford red faced, smashed, burping beer all over himself. Proceeding to tell anyone who listened, who is was and how he's "the genius behind Cornford amps" and the money people wanted to throw at him to jump to a bigger company. He was embarrassing to watch and people should now realise that Martin was completely the brains behind the operation. I bet that you won't see another new amp come out of Cornford unless they get bought out by Marshall and bring new techs in. I sincerely wish Martin all the success in the world with this new venture.

I write this meaning no disrespect Chappers but why is it in your videos the guitars are almost always out of tune? Sometimes it may be only slightly but often it is easily noticeable.
I'm not Rob, so only he can answer this, but if I were to guess, it's because they pull guitars off the wall for the demos and as the strings stretch out they start going slightly out of tune, and since the videos are edited together and out of chronological order, sometimes they're more out of tune than at other times.
first of all HOARSEMUSIC nobody just pulls guitars off a wall to make a video representing there product ,they make sure everything is perfect or at least close to it

I think it's a 58 reissue custom shop V.O.S. plaintop in faded tobacco. At least it looks the same as my one anyway :)

Great sounding Amp. I have to say I'm not a fan of its older brother the V100 (The Duke). I like how The Earl has EL34 power tubes unlike the Duke which has 6L6 tubes. In my opinion EL34 tubes sound WAY better and have a better sounding overdrive than 6L6 tubes; which I think have bit better of a clean tone. My advice to amp companies, If you want an amp which a mean overdrive tone put EL34s in it, However if you you want a nice clean sound put 6L6 tubes in the power section.
Why not run the 6L6's for the cleans, then switch to the EL34's for the overdrive? I'd love to see an amp that did that.

Seriously, how hard can it be to check the tuning before recording Rob ? If you can´t hear it yourself at least check it with a person who do .Then record.
